why the f*** would they do that, there was a rumor that he was saved by his guardian, Charles R. and was replaced by a boy named Louis-Rene, and he moved to America with Charles and lived to see America move west, I hope that when they find out what happened to him, that's the answer!
how come this happened? i read that king louis xvii was buried in the ground of cemetery of ste. marguerite and no gravestone was erected on the ground where he is buried. how can these experts claim that this is really louis xvii's heart?
What about Louis Poiret from Seychelles. I dont trust the DNA test because those in power in France can't afford to learn the the royal bloodline still exist. Fishy!
As the son of the king, he was a Fils de France (Son of France). At the death of his father on 21 January 1793, and in keeping with dynastic order, he became King of France and Navarre although, imprisoned during the French Revolution from August 1792 until his death in 1795, he never reigned.
Program after program, people still keep using to say the heart tested in 1998 is indeed Louis XVII. The prof. who investigated the heart never said it was the heart of Louis XVII. The only result they could give is, that the heart belongs to a member of the dna of the habsburg family (female line). Louis XVII in fact was liberated in 1794 and has been brought into safety in the Flanders near Gent. He lived under the name of Rombaut. He died November 1, 1875. Evidence are in Vatican.
@evaschalck ...seriously? There are very few people it could belong to. Beyond a reasonable doubt, it's Louis XVII's. These conspiracy theories just don't happen. He died of tuberculosis. If the royal bloodline still existed, it would have no wieght, due to the fact that it was throne out a second time during the bourbon restoration, in which royal rights were abdicated. There would be no reason to hide the death. No one has hidden the death. The Russians did not hide the death of Anastasia.
Louis XVII of France, also Louis VI of Navarre (Versailles, 27 March 1785 - Paris, 8 June 1795), from birth to 1789 known as Louis-Charles, Duke of Normandy; then from 1789 to 1791 as Louis-Charles, Dauphin of Viennois; and from 1791 to 1793 as Louis-Charles, Prince Royal of France, was the son of King Louis XVI of France and Marie Antoinette of Austria.
I really can't believe what music they play while speaking of a dead, murdered child, even more, a Dauphin. What a moron you must be, to make such a documentary.
Yeah it's a little upbeat. This show would come on at like 3am where I lived and it was kind of trippy to watch when you're half asleep and hearing the upbeat music to this guy happily narrating the death of someone, good example is the Malcolm X one.
Yeah, this was a weirdly upbeat "documentary" . . . not to mention that some of the portraits they used are not of Louis-Charles (one is of his brother, Louis-Joseph), and some of their facts are incorrect, especially when it comes to the random assertion that the restored French monarchy told Pelletan that they didn't want the heart, and because they thought it was "macabre." I don't know where they got that, but what a load of bull. XD
The Bourbon family line didn't end there (too many for that to happen), but as Louis-Charles died, and his sister Marie-Thérèse never had any children, there are no direct decedents of Louis XVI and Marie-Antoinette alive today.
Great video!!thanx! But what i find weird is the modern music added and funny things going on which makes it look more like a Monty Python sketch and not worthy of the History Channel, but great vid just the same!
The utterly stupid choice of music and film is outrageous.

Look at that stupid clip of the 20th C surgeons performing a surgery that is paired with the words "an autopsy was conducted."

One of the worst documentaries I've ever seen. The most insensitive script and the most unbearable score ever. Ever!
