  • Terrible video quality.

  • why do you have to say a pledge every day just cause you're starting a day in public school? it sounds like propaganda.

  • omg.... what a degirse!

  • I never said the pledge in school, and didn't care about it's wording(God ref) but this mans pledge, I would say it willingly.

  • I like your pledge, and its intentions. however, i have some quips with it: I dislike "To the 'people'...for which it stands". I don't pledge allegiance to people I don't know. Just being a resident of the U.S. doesn't make them worthy of anyone's allegiance. "To DEFEND AT ALL COSTS THOSE PEOPLE..." sorry, living in America doesn't make someone more valuable to me than things that I hold as my highest values (like my life). etc etc, the same idea is behind pledging to aid mankind...

  • ur taking the words too literally. Basically it just means that you'll pledge to work to improve society, for yourself and loved ones, as well as everyone else. As opposed to working "solely" from selfish motives; as people who act from selfish motives are kind of the definition of evil. Also, I didn't say it had to be about AMERICA, it about man-kind as a whole. It not about countries, it's about ALL SENTIENT LIFE.

  • That is what I do. I take words that people say literally. If what I described is not the meaning you intended then you should change them to reflect their actual meaning. Phrases that sound good but need to be interpreted PAST their literal meaning are not preferable to clear, concise and exact words that are meant to express exact meaning. You're defending the use of rhetoric for a pledge of allegiance that should not be ambiguous at all. (1/2)

  • (2/2)

People acting from selfish motives while recognizing (and not violating) other people's inherent rights to life, liberty and property is not the definition of evil.

  • um, it's not ambiguous; "the people" means people. It doesn't mean US citizens, it means human beings. Sorry if you didn't know people and humans are the same thing. Not to mention you have to take the pledge as a whole; not JUST line by line, it starts out "to the idea of America". The problem with people who SAY they take everything literally, is language is inherantly NOT LITERAL; and it is designed to be used with rhetoric. Language is simply the best means we have so far to express...

  • our thoughts, feelings, presumptions and knowledge all at once. It's NOT an exact science. Rather than complaining about it, you should just learn to express yourself in the most accurate means possible using english. Why do you think EVERYONE adds and changes little things to whatever language they speak? So they can express themselves better. Anyway, glad you liked the pledge; and remember to a positive force, not a negative one.

  • I like it!

  • i like ur plegde. its very honest and simply. simply is good. the words make more sense the orginal because urs acutally staes whats america is suppose to be about. nice good!

  • I like the idea on no pledge at all.

  • All you have to do to improve the pledge of allegiance is remove "under god"

  • what you got against the word under? HARSH

  • I like the concept behind the new pledge. I would however make it more a personal motto. I especially like the "idea of America" because when I think of the idea of America I think of Lady Liberty and these words inscribed at the foot of the statue:

Give me your tired, your poor,

Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,

The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.

Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me,

I lift my lamp beside the golden door!

  • sorry I took so long responding, I just saw this now. Yeah, it's kinda designed more as a personal motto but that's probably because I'm not a fan of a national motto that applies to everyone that everyone has to say. Where's the individuality in that? I agree with the rest... have a great day!

  • Pledge of freedom ? of course, cuz in your little head only americans are/have the righ to be free.

  • I say right in the video that this is for everyone, not just Americans. Hence the allotment of saying it in other languages. Also, if your gonna be a douche, at least spell "righ" right. Your grammar sucks.

  • Maybe your cognitive skills also suck cuz you didn't get from my post that I'm not American, I bet my English is a hell of a lot better than your Portuguese, so don't even go there.

I'm sorry if I sounded harsh, that was not the point.

  • No, I got that you weren't American. And I'd say sorry being a jerk but I am sometimes, so sorry if it offended you. And yeah, I don't know a bit of Portuguese. But my point was, everyone deserves freedom; everywhere. Did you watch the video all the way to the end? I know it's kinda slow paced.

  • thank you for leaving god and his son (mr jesus) :-) out!!!

  • Great work, good writing. I'll take that pledge.

  • People have many different Gods (meaning things or entities they live their lives by) money, fame, adoration, murder, drugs, goodness, evil, spirituality, power, control, and just to name a few. These are all entities of being you may not look at them as deities but if you live by them and answer to them they are in fact Godlike. I think you really need to evaluate your definition of God instead of applying it to one Christian definition then maybe you'll understand we all serve somebody or something.

  • You make a lot of assumptions before you speak. And you assume a lot is implied while speaking. I haven't disagreed with you once and yet you continue to argue. Considering everything you've recently said was said based on what you want to say and not what I said (for the most part) I'm done with this. You really need to train yourself to think on a higher level. You seem truly blind to the more allusive subtleties of this world.

  • no we do not all serve somebody or something. i am me and i serve myself. :)

  • ok if you can prove God doesn't exist and is indeed a fairytale by all means please do,and I mean any God.

Lets face it Kids don't wanna be in School period doing anything they have to do is a chore not just the Pledge so your and Angrygirls observation is really pointless. And as far as your perception of what the "Real World" is, well it's just that "your personal opinion" nothing more. Others perception vary greatly from yours like it or not thats the "Real World".

  • his and angry girls observation is pointless??? how so?? when did freedom become pointless?? bleh.. thats american logic for you, ill never understand it.

  • Oh but you could stop using money I mean it would mean living outside and digging through dumpsters but If you feel that strongly get your people together and do it. I mean there is no change without sacrifice anywhere I have read through history right? I'm of this opinion I don't believe in Santa but I don't go to elementary schools telling kids its a lie.People need their faith as much as you don't need it just be the bigger person,or go all out like I mentioned earlier.

  • I agree with you; I don't want to force the harsh realities of the real world down peoples throats. Just like I don't think a fairy tail should be enforced as reality by the government. The only thing my pledge does is take God out of it; it doesn't say and in god we don't trust or something like that. Oh, and I'll tell you what, I'll only use credit and debit, no cash.

  • Also, going that far wouldn't accomplish anything; I'd be a bumb and no one would know why I chose that. When making a sacrifice the payout has to be worth the price.

  • If you really want to go all out against the term of GOD then please stop using your money! It has God emblazoned on it! Dont say the pledge and don't use money. Send all that Godly cash to me and I'll erase it and mail it back. I bet You wont go that far though hypocrite. Who cares about the pledge when theres bigger fish to fry? try living in Iran and spewing anti Muslim stuff.

  • Well obviously I can't stop using money, it has to be taken one step at a time. baby steps. Your right, "in god we trust" should be taken off our money. God wasn't in our pledge or money until the mid 50's. Good point, I agree. That's why we have troops there; we're not doing enough right now but America is doing something, despite all the flak its taken for it.

  • What is your problem with God??? Its only the atheist that complain about these topics, Get a LIFE!!What was the talk of a one world Gov't??? Yeah that is a great idea lets give all authority to one GOV"t so they can do what they please..This world is a fallen world there will never be Peace until the millenium reign of God! the rapture could happen any day turn to Jesus. If you dont believe me read revelations please

  • You do realize that revelations and the whole Bible was written by power seeking people... right? Don't just follow blindly, question everything till you have an answer. I wonder which presidential candidate you like???

  • POWER SEEKING PEOPLE???!! what does that even mean? The twelve apostles gave up everything to follow Jesus. That statement sums up how ignorant you are to the bible, who may I ask are these power seeking people you refer to?? dont take this as me being mean or anything you talk as if your a very intelligent person, just please at least read some scriptures. God loves you remember regardless if you believe in him or not. I mean do you really think this world is all there is??

  • I suggest you read up on "The Thousand Year Kingdom". Read it from a neutral perspective (i.e. not from an atheist (Satan) standpoint, and not from a religious (God) standpoint).

I think you'll find that it would be the worst period in life, ever.

  • You sort of look like me.

  • Um, okay?

  • Heh, sorry to be so random. I should add that I found your thoughts to be very heartfelt and I really appreciate hearing your views. I also attempt to pursue my own happiness while trying not to curb anyone else's happiness...

    Best,

    Rob

  • Thanks, I just didn't really know how to respond to your first comment:) But I'm glad you liked the video.

  • I agree this is much better than the current one. I'll reject this response to my other video so you can put it as a response to my American Girl video which I am now accepting video responses to.

  • Cool, thanks. Also, thank you for using such great music in some of your recent videos; I love finding great music.

  • I much prefer your pledge to the Pledge of Allegiance.

  • :), thanks. That's what I was going for.
