Low budget videos are the best. Remember how boring the expensive late 80's videos were? At this time the art form was fresh and vibrant. It was art. Ideas were what drove the creative process, not $. I wouldn't be surprised if the video directors were hired straight out of university.
@FeelGood30 - Very much so...very tasteful synth sounds (or Fairlight, if you don't want to call them "synth") for its time. Too bad Rob passed away at such an early age.
Brilliant synth pop .. I was a headbanger in the 80s but the sequencing and composition of this duo is just outstanding. This kind of music seems to have disappeared in the American market. It seems that anything with integrity is being ignored by the Hollywood types ...
That's because Hollywood and integrity are antithetical to each other! Those freaks in Hollyweird are good at nothing but distorting reality and presenting 'their' version of life, which is not mine. Those freaks are waging a form of psychological warfare on the populace, IMHO.
They're trying (and succeeding) to reduce us all into brute beasts without conscience or morals. They want to make people into 'their' image, which is the lowest common denominator of humanity. Slaves!
Wow, this is my fav group of the 80's. If I were to go to a deserted island, I would take this album "burning bridges" with me. Thanks a million for posting this.
Naked Eyes were Pete Byrne who's the singer and Rob Fisher The Keyboard Player who sadly passed away in 1999 at the age of 42. Pete still Tours with a whole Band.
I just found out that Rob Fisher the Keyboardist died in 1999 of Cancer. RIP Rob and thanks for being part of one of my Favorite Bands. You were Talented beyond belief.
i just bought their greatest hits today came with htis song & always something there to remind me,promises promises I'm hooked on this band i keep listening to the same songs 30 times a hour lol!!! music just isn't made these days like it was back then... rock on 60's 70's & 80's
Typical of 80's videos--the songs have nothing to do with the visuals, and are rather strange...still, this song is COOOL!!80's synth music will never die! Thanks for sharing this to us.
Where are you all finding these classic videos, I have loved Naked Eyes for soooo long and never seen this video nor the Promises videos and this is my very first time seeing. I guess the USA keeps us from seeing much of anything outside the states.
I don't think this was released as a single outside of the UK as I don't remember this but do remember their other singles (Promises Promises, Always something there to remind me, What in the name of love). There were lots of British bands and singers in the 80s that found success in North America at the time - more so then nowadays.
I have been searching for this song since july 1983...at first i tought it was martin fry before ABC.Thanks so much for posting, this brilliant song , it didn't have the success it deserved....

Thats funny about the slap bass. Definitely an 80's staple.
You know I think the bassist from Duran Duran still does the same slap bass licks!
