  • theyre not going to re open it. sorry guys.

  • It's 2011 and its STILL not re-opened!

  • Do you have an online petition?

  • What people need to realize is that Bay Lake is not a man-made lake. The lake is an actual Florida lake and the island that discovery island was on is a natural island. This makes it a lot harder for them to be able to control the water. N honestly looking back on it I don't think I would have gotten into the water in the parks original condition. I'm 18 now n I got to visit the park exactly 3 years before it closed down n the entire time I stayed in the chlorinated pool. I'm surprised a gator

  • @LMann32869 can you ask if you can re-open i went there when i was 4 an it god damn fun :(

  • river country was closed due to bacteria comeing up from the swamp disney world and bay lake were built on. we were told this years ago when river country closed by the cast member's who run the boats that go from fort wilderness and the contemperary and disney world its really sad because i remember all the fun times we had there when i was a child. Disney has changed so much things it will never be the way it use to be.

  • Ironic. The only Disney water park I've ever been too (back in 1995) and they close it :P

  • Your joking right? opening in 2012? The resort is falling in, secont the soil is so gross, the resort has been abandoned since 1999-2001,

  • Me too I miss River Country i hope it will be Re open soon.

  • i miss this park im 12 nd i reember going here in 1999 2000, nd 2002 nd i almost drowned lol i went on a slide nd they made me take my water wings off or watever they were nd wen i got to the bottom i fell nd couldnt get up my dad steppd on me wen he got offf thats how he found me lol

  • River Country is waay passe now with Typhoon and Blizzard Beach. I loved it when I was younger and it was a good time but it really did not have much to it. They should bring back the train for Fort Wilderness first so the atmosphere would improve.

  • From what I understand, for safety, Florida made a new law stating that no water park attractions can be used in "natural" waters. Government shows us that fun is always dangerous, and we need to be regulated because we're stupid.

Me and my 2 kids have very fond memories of this place.

  • but they could of filled the pool with regular water...

idk, i'm 13, went to WDW in 2002 and never went there :'(

  • @posttyped11 If that is indeed that case. then why not create a small dam that separates the water that is already in there from the natural water. Then they are not using a natural body of water. Disney can chlorinate or use pumps to keep it clean.

  • @aprilsitaly I am thinking the same thing it would be legal!!!!!!

  • The reason this park was great besides its histroical significance to Walt Disney World is you could ride the slides over & over again. Whereas during peak season the other parks were so crowded you spent so much time in line that it wasn't always fun. At River Country there was just the right amount of people. It was one of my favorites for that very reason. The water was like lake water so of course it wasn't clear water but reflected the idea of an old fashioned swimming hole.

  • This park wasn't that great. It only had 3 slides and you had to swim in dirty lake water. I remember finding a tampon in there once just floating down the innertube slide, we were all trying to avoid touching it while trying to push others toward it, Good times.

  • I would have loved to go here, but sadly it is no more =(

  • i Never got a chance to see or go to River Country, but when i was a little girl i had a movie that would show all the Disney parks and that was like 11 years ago. HOPEFULLY they consider re-opening it because my mom has told me stories and they are about the park. How she went when she was like 19 or 20 years old and how unique it was. Sometimes its Heartbreaking the way its just abandon there.

  • I believe this would be a fun park to go to, hope they re-open it.

  • Please join me in writing to the executives at Walt Disney World to bring River Country back to life. When they see how many people want it back they would have to, at least, consider fixing the problems and re-opening the park. P.O. Box 10,000, Lake Buena Vista, FL 32830-1000. Remember, this is the company that can turn nothing into something - and something is already there!!

  • they are bring it back to life it is going to be a the pool for a new resort they are building opening in late 2012 (I work for disney)

  • @chevyrules05

    That's bullshit

  • @LMann32869 that might not be a bad idea!

  • @LMann32869 i think that may help and i know it wont be the same but remodle it to match the old one and use a pool instead of a lake so they wont worry about things in the water.i mean its better than nothing.
