Thanks, John, it really looks and sounds like a piece of one inch copper round stock, rounded at one end, flat at the other, with some ridges in between. I've bee using a copper end cap, heaten and beaten over an oak dowel, but it doesn't have nearly the mass I need. Solid copper, or copper fittings, filled with lead, may do it. Back to the shop!
What kind of tool did you use, Bob? I'd like to make one like it. Round on one end, for bopping, abrasive in the middle, and flat on the other end. OK, so what's it made of? Sounded metallic.
@RobertRCook Most modern knapping tools are made of copper, so I can only assume that's what he is using in the video. I've seen other knappers use copper boppers that look very similar to what he is using
