this one must be great but i feel like it just couldn't compare to Ronald Coleman, Raymond Massey and Douglas Fairbanks jr. or the feeling of an old black and white film.
@RoronoaEmi Haha, I feel the opposite way. Perhaps because I saw the Granger version first. I LOVE black and white too, but Stewart Granger is just too handsome to handle and I just adore that version.
My mother loved this movie! It was one of her last joys. It become a part of her daily routine. Watching this clip has made me both happy and a bit sad. Thanks so much for posting this.
I would like a new version that would be closer to Hope's book. The movie versions have romanticised and blandified the original plot so much that it's now impossible to take it seriously, and is therefore not good for anything except parody of the most ridiculous kind.
R E A L ROYAL ROMANCE IS COMING IN 2010! Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden is getting married! To the man of her choice -- DANIEL WESTLING, her former personal trainer, (and very, very handsome -- sigh!)
It would be nice if they did another version, now, (2010)....or in the near-future! (P.S.: Ever hear the story about the Jewish person who didn't like being Jewish at all? That's me -- I'm THE PRISONER OF ZELDA!" : (
It is actually the same--almost frame for frame in some parts. And the music is the same, also. What this version doesn't have is David Niven, Douglas Fairbanks Jr., or the fabulous Ronald Colman. The one improvement in this version probably is Deborah Kerr. The dialogue lacks the flow of the 1937 version, though...
Amazing-- the script.. and even the music seem exactly the same as the '37 version (which was the best.) Aside from the color, they must have saved some pocket change by directly using the same script-- ah, remakes.
Why does he have black hair?!?!?

Had Elvis Presley been offered a roll in a sequel to this movie, the title may have been "RETURN to ZENDA" Boom Boom !!

errol flynn and viveca lindfors or alexis smith would have been a retelling, in flynn's better years.
