  • he sounds like JOKER.

  • this guy looks like justin beiber in 7 years

  • 3:29 - shut up and take my money

  • sure, it's important that you have at least some people who genuinely say that u have a great voice (i say some cause maybe classical music fans won't appreciate punk or grunge etc..), but shouldn't u mainly be singing for yourself? shouldn't that be the most important thing? i think it is anyway.

  • yep. I see why this is free.

  • @niobbit thanks ;)

  • whats the beginning and ending song? sounds nice!

  • i have no idea what my style is

  • I'm sorry, I dozed off. Did you say something?

  • Based on my vocal, I think my style is instrumental. :D

  • Hi, Brett. I have a breathing problem. One of the holes in my one is almost always close. That problem make not qualified for singing well?

  • You failed because you are a bad person and bad things happen to you.

  • i would like to book a lesson ): but i am from sg ! T_T

  • "You're not singing for yourself. If you where you probably wouldn't be singing." that sounds stupid, some pple sing when there depressed to vent if u will.

  • I am singing to myself and my friends say, that i should sing on stage...and then i laugh them out and they leave it.)

  • Singing is a mirror of your soul.

  • @badass5385 Nah.

  • I have a style. I call it silence.

  • Why does this guy always look stoned?

  • Who is brett manning?

  • Mannerisms remind me of Gene Simmons

  • he reminds me of Jack Nicholson..

  • i think this guy basically just said....

You guys suck at what you're doing... do something different... I can do everything. I'm ok at RnB but I'm kick ass at everything else but YOU?... you suck so find something else you don't suck at....

  • @TheShane2992 LOL!

  • i'm that tall gentle men from utah.....

  • omg, the quality is amazing!

  • I still don't understand! I really don't understand how to sing. Please help me...I do write songs, but I'm not really good at it. I want to sing so badly so that...I won't be afraid anymore. So I won't be afraid to share my voice. So that i can actually be able to sing a song without sounding completely horrendous. I think too much I know, but there has to be something to make me finally be capable of singing. I don't know what my real voice is! Please...help me.

  • @Rookie702Penguin Do what the video told you to do try a couple genres maybe your voice isn't made for the style of singing you want. Practicing can help ALOT. Stick with it singing can be taught, if you think you have a bad voice you can fix it by practicing everyday. Look for EricArceneaux on youtube he has awesome videos for beginners

  • @Rookie702Penguin Get a vocal coach. They'll be able to tell you what your problems are and how to fix them.

  • deep stuff

  • this guy is a jerk. But an honost jerk

  • Am i the only one getting nervous with this guy's right eye?

  • just too swindlerish

  • @KristopherAbelCsabai

well actually this was the first post from manning that i felt was not swindlerish at all

    the first one

  • @Rizzit, get a vocal coach. (:

  • I started with music 1 year ago, learned how to play aucustic guitar just for the cords and some rhytmics, now i wrote my first songtext, and its really just about the life of a girl and me and all the shit weve been trhough when we were kids. now that i learned how to sing and play guitar , i want to expand my voice and shape it to match the style to what people should hear and feel too.

from the first times i tried to sing til now there has been a huge improvement but i still suck need help

  • what's name of the song at the begining?

  • @czikita139 AuotoVaughn - hell of a place

  • Brett's KEEPIN' IT REAL with his message. You can tell by how softly his speaking voice is when he starts off that he's VERY serious about what he's telling us.

    Thank you, Brett.

  • Did he just called us very bad singers at 3:29?

  • i think if you grew with a music genre you liked then thats who your most likely going to be sounding like. and thats perfect!

  • I sing jazz the best but I'm into rock and broadway. SHIT!

  • don't agree with this at all

  • seriously ...this guy knows what he is talking about ....thumps up if u agree..:D

  • I think I sing like justin bieber....but I still don't know what my style is :(

  • @MrShaunwheatley I dont care

  • My vocal coach told me, I was more of a country western type, and I rejected it so much because I didn't want to be that... Turns out after some soul searching, I found I really loved songs that told a story..so now I gravitate mre twos songs that have that story telling narrative quality.

  • My vocal coach told b

  • VERY good tip! Thank Brett.

  • Wow I have been going back and fourth and singing all types of music for so long trying to figure out who I am because I love all music. You just gave me my answer thanks so much!

  • What if someone doesn't like the style that their voice is the best with?

  • @elderdruid44 - Who cares, I say. There are going to be people that just aren't into you period. Don't forget that most of your listeners in the audience, aren't going to think like you because they don't do what you do.

    You can't please everyone musically.

  • @elderdruid44 suicide

  • @elderdruid44 If you don't like the style you don't have to sing in it. I think everyone should sing in the style they love. I firmly believe that one of the greatest joys of singing is for oneself, and then for others. Because it doesn't matter if everyone around me loves how i sing, if I don't genuinely ENJOY singing for myself, they will never hear me. We just need to find the style we enjoy singing most and sing. lol :)

  • I mean, I get it. We depend on our audiences and we sing for them. But we also count" what about the artist itself... and maybe it might be a sorta musical stereotype hahahaha a tenor in rock metal , those high screamings, and bass and altos more soul-like... unique voices shouldn't be chained to any genre... Maybe, if the crowd is happy with one's singing is because the singer is happy with the one's singing... Emotion-likings-vulnerability sells better... I guess... ...

  • People have told me to sing broadway style music and I frankly don't relate to it. I would like to think I have a classical/baroque voice.

    chris

  • Well said...Really inspiring!

  • I like the psycho-bit of Brett. You sing for others, no matter what one thinks or claims that one doesn't. Even if you're un-commercial you want to sing to people to show just how un-commercial you are.

  • You're completely right. You just made me realize that I'm not singing for myself. Whoa. (not bs)

  • i thought it just depends how you feel? for me anyway, i sing how i feel...

  • hmmm ... this is the first time brett hasn't convinced me... yeah. that's a very commercial way to think... and I know, we're a supposed to sell our product (voice and singing and image) .yes! if we want to live that life, yes... but we should be feeling as well, and we should be happy with the genre we sing ... it's US who decide. Not our voices... it's just, hey you're a bass, you have got to sing classical because your voice will probably sound better like that... ... ... ... ...

  • @valarangel I think that he's referring to the timbre of people's voices, some people's voices are so unique they really are suited to sing certain styles, they should just be aware of it and if pursuing commercialism then keeping that in mind is the best tool. In most cases people fit 1 to a few genres, it's true its not bs.

  • i think my voice suits rock better...but i really wanna be able to do rnb =(

  • @miketoemusic1 you don't have to sound like a typical rock singer. What he is talking about is success, money, fame etc. The road to achieving that. Do sing RNB if that's what you want. I believe that any artist does best what they feel like doing.

  • i wanna use it to get laid

  • @samuelfs6 lol get a life. Getting laid isn't important.

  • @sweetbutdaring spoken like a conservative virgin

  • bieber hair :D

  • 3:29

  • Thank-you Brett for this tip of the week it really helped Now i understand musicals is what i should start off with before singing any other genre Quadracer687 (Laura)

  • This was really helpful, thanks!
