yes but she knows that and Mao and her coach are working on adding others jumps into the program. An elite skaters like Mao is capable of all type jumps but sometimes you have to make strategic decison in the competition to win the game. After all, Mao won over the 2nd place more than 20 points.

Are you jealous that Mao's much more experienced and is much better than you, patrickstarfish? You are obsessed with your own cheated critique of Mao! Mao has incredible artistry and oh, you can't do anything like she does! So stop whining and learn how to review other figure skaters, other than Mao. I don't post stupid comments like you do.

actually, you're right. she only has a flip, loop, and axel here. her lutz is a flutz, so it is really a flip. she does have incredible artistry though, and she has great spins. her jumps could use some work, but no skater is perfect.

So gorgeous. Glad to see she at least attempted the triple axel. All in all a good program technically, but there were a few little mistakes dashed in there (like the 2 footed triple-triple) I hope she picks up her game for the GPF: Yu-Na's last competition total was almost 20 points higher than this!

It's sure a great lead on the side of Yuna. It means Yuna have a clear advantage. But they have not performed in same competition before same judges. Anyway I cheer Mao. (Haste makes waste.)

I agreed. Presentation wise, this program is far better than Yuna's, but she need to skate absolutely clean and fixed her flutz at world if she wants to win the title. I don't think she need the 3A in her program and she done 3Loop before.

She was planning to do a triple. She landed two 3A in the warm-up just before her free skate.

Mao Asada, although she fell on her first jump, the triple Axel, and two footed the triple flip/triple loop combination, deservedly won with a beautiful program, well choreographed and pleasant to watch. Her technique is pure and she is so expressive and artistic too. To me this was the only program where the choreography was built around the music, a beautiful "Fantaisie" by F. Chopin, and she skated with her heart.

You interested in strange thing. I've heard figure skating kids' family uses a lot of money for shoes and costumes. And Top skaters get a kind of financial support from for example Turkish Skating Federation. That's all I know. And I've heard that Midori Ito was confronted with financial difficulty when she began to participate actively in figure skating competition. Maybe winning competition does not pay. I don't know well.

Lovely performance. A shame about the 3 axel but the rest of the jumps look good. Once again it looks like Asada, Kim and Ando are the front runners for the World Champs. I can't see Meissner getting close if these three gurls skate anywhere near their best.

Very surprising to see so much negativity towards others in this program. Her musicality is far superior to many other skaters. There were some technical flaws with a couple of her landings. Try to look at the total package though. Each skater has his/her strengths & weaknesses. That's the reason for the judging system.

The conclusion seems to be no problem. But I think you are too much confident of your own esthetic sense. Of course you won't be surprised if somebody say, 'EKevinS judgment on Mao's "musicality" is entirely subjective and therefore quite unfair'. I could say that Mao always skates with unfailing musicality.

what a two-foot skater! it's so obvious that she can't do toe jumps AT ALL. that makes her finish & start her sequence jumps w/ two-foot,sometimes. it's too fast that u guys might not be able to notice that. even judes either. that's why they gave her two-foot landing or two-foot jumps plus points. but NOT AGAIN~

2007 WCS FS. Mao's step triple axel lost one point because of two foot landing. I don't know it's fair or not.

Her artistry seems to have improved, but her jumping has dropped since last season; she has only six triples planned in her free skate rather than the seven that she did last year.

Triple jumps? There remains long enough time till GPF. If she regain her form, it's matter of course add to it within the limit.

Surprised to see so many people guffawing about this program here. This is a hell of a lot of arms flailing and windmilling.

Just how many arms does she have exactly?

It must be either that this is a computer or whirpool washer-generated choreography or the skater has no idea what she is doing.

And why is she so damn slow with her spiral?

Now I know why she incurred a 1 point deduction for the time limit! When the music ended, her movements didn't end. Although, that turn right after her ending pose was not a part of the performance (she was merely getting out of her final pose), it was still counted as a part of her overall program cause she didn't hold her end pose (which is what the judges look for).

That was an amazing performance! Lively steps, spirals and spins. So much improvement here from the last year.

Too bad the sound is not in synch in this clip - it spoils the effect somewhat. It is hard to judge how well the skater interprets music, when the music itself is delayed. :)

Mao used to be so carefree, now she becomes so mature, her performance is so much more emotional and dramatic. But too bad she hasn't landed a triple axel this season.
