in california, each language class is 5 units at 20 bucks per unit. To get efficient at a language, you should take a bout 4 classes. Thats 400 dollars right there. each of those classes has a book for at least 100 dollars. Thats well over the price by using rosetta stone as a main resource. Just try it....you have 6 months to return it if you buy it from rosetta stone directly.

this is rosetta stone version 2. i have rosetta stone's version 3 Italian and it's a billion times better than this. Version 3 is amazing. Version 2 stinks. Rosetta Stone is really great on version 3. They have version 3 for like 8 or 10 languages. Check their website. Don't give rosetta stone crap jerryfudala unless you are blind.

Well.. ive downloaded some languages.. even is really simple.. i found that it helps to improve some pronunciations and other things.. what is really a problem about learning.. is trying a ancient language like mandarin, japanese.. it shows only audio.. but words? oh yes.. all in chinese.. and kanjis.. oh no.. its hard to me..

Try learning italian portuguese.. etc.. u will get good basis ... trust me :)

yeah.. the rosetta stone sucks... i got it and as soon as i started there was no teaching behind what anything means.. it was just a bunch of pictures and words asking me what each one was.. then after i figured them out by trial and error it was next going into sentence structures such as over and under the table... how the hell is anyone going to learn like that?

I can't believe this comment got 2 thumbs up. I just started using rosetta stone, and it's simple: you look at what's happening in the picture! I got a 97 on the first lesson, mainly because on one I thought I had already clicked a picture that was the right answer, when come to find out I had not yet clicked it and I was right on it being the right answer. It's a very simple program to use, though you do have to be able to think.
