Nice. I'm a beginner salt-water flyer, and it's good to be able to see peoples techniques. I have a lot of missed strikes with speckled trout when stripping, but the 'rod under the armpit and strip with both hands' idea is a winner for sure.
Yea, the hand-over-hand technique keeps in in constant contact with the fly. Just try to resist the temptation to rod strike - hand strike with the line!
Hand over hand is perfect for reds and speckled trout. You can just pull to set the hook in, then let them them run while you organize your rod and line. I can't wait to try this. I'd love to see a vid with techniques on how to combat the wind with a fly..
Definately saltwater. We were fishing inside Jones Inlet at Pt. Lookout (Long Island NY). Weather was really snotty for June. Couldn't get outside the inlet.
what kind of outfit do you use?

In this video I am using a 9wt rod with a 350 Teeny head because the water is deep and fast in that area.

Of course. Just be sure it's legal to fish were you want to.
