@Digomezdoradense Exactamente lo mismo estoy pensando.....debería haber música de adoración en este genero. Sería increible!!! Que Bjork cantará al señor con su magnifica voz y música. Sería una bendición!!!
No. One of the biggest tells with someone lip syncing is that the "s" sound comes through as subtle and not harsh as it is in this video. In the recording studio when tracking the vocals you would use something called a "Pop Shield". This piece of equipment is used because of the limitations in all microphones for "p" sounds and "s" sounds that create a "pop" that is very disrupting in the recording. The second tell is her phrasing. The nuances are subtle but they are there.
@The3rdHiltonSister Lol, sure. You do realize Björk has been around and famous for much longer than Gaga, right? Even this live DVD is older than Gaga's career.
@The3rdHiltonSister You just made me laugh with that comment of yours. Gaga's isnt everything. Bjork has been around JUST as a solo artist since like 1990 and was in a band called The Sugar Cubes before that. This DVD was made in 2002 gaga wasnt famouse till late 2008. Gaga is 26, Bjork is 45. Therefore is makes you look like a complete dumb ass for making that comment. And Another thing is that you cant even compare the two. Bjork is Unique. Gaga Is every pop star in a nut shell. BAM
Bjork, in my opinion has incredible skills in wrighting, but only about 2 or 3 of her songs sound good. The rest sounds like jumbled malarchy.... sorry guys, thats just how I feel.
@plpearl i completly understand, at the begining i liked only who is it and Joga, the rest i almost hated, but then, i started to like hidden place, and then i liked almost every song from her. Now there are only like 2-3 songs i dont like, but it took me almost a year till i get to this...
@timabakulini This is in fact music. However, music is subjective, and people wont always like it. But that does not mean it isn't music. Try to understand that before commenting on a song you don't like.
just amazing. this just adds to the respect i happily give her. an artist, vocalist, and conceptual genious. her own style is so private and sacred to her, you can see that - and with each song, she lets you in little by little as if she really develops this intimate trust with her audience. purtity...creativity at its essence, and passion that is honest. she just IS the moment. beautiful to watch. i will always enjoy this.
You know what would be really cool to see on Bjorks concerts ? ... The face expressions of those watching, i really wonder how many of them are smiling, crying, happy, or everything combine....
I interpret this song differently (which is the beauty of the song). I see it as she destroys things, and thinks about what would happen if she jumped. She scares herself in order to appreciate her significant that much more. Kind of hard to put in words though
@Scrizam35 I agree, I think she's someone who is in an abusive relationship. She is isolated (“at the top of a mountain”), but she is trying to see the positive (“beautiful view”) and her way of coping is to destroy things in the same way as she is slowly being destroyed by her partner. Good thing, when a song allows you to have you're own interpretation. (:

her songs r so extraordinary. lik her singing is lik already one song, an the instrumental is already a song, n someone put them togethor n this happened :D
The orchestra really brings a life and energy to this already upbeat and honest song, almost echoing the wind and atmosphere of the mountain she stands upon. Perhaps she feels trapped by her relationship, she must live out her inner (raging) desires and connect with her core needs before he wakes to satisfy her soul and emotional turmoil.

one could say she's experiencing an existential form of angst. standing on the mountain pushing and exercising the boundaries of human freedom, nothing holding her back, but nothing willing her to actually jump off the mountain. a powerful and beautiful song, maybe we should stop comparing this talented, incredible woman, and embrace her for what she has created.
If Bjork's thoughts and music were a tangible place it would be the most terrifying, confusing, intricate, sorrowful, beautiful, extastic, colorful, euphoric place, that would grab hold of you and fill you with a feeling of such wellbeing that completely consumes you.
to suicide or not to suicide .... Bjork's lyrics actually go "I go through all this before you wake up, so I can be happier to feel safe with you" Sounds like someone who is loving life to me?
This song has been inspiring me for years. It's the kind of song that makes your mind drift to unfamiliar places that seem warm anyhow. I made a video of the images I see inside my head when I listen to it. Visit my channel and drop a comment.
I thought Bjork wrote this song about a friend that committed suicide. It doesn't really matter, we all make our own meanings to songs, but when I heard that I couldn't help but feel differently when I hear this song.
Zaliczam ją do obydwu kategorii. Stanowi klasę sama dla siebie. Pozdrawiam Cie Bjork. dionek128
@pctification Wow - have you not read the lyrics at all? This is a song 100% about contemplating suidcide. Each day she throws little things off and wonders what her body would sound like crying against the rocks below. She says it in her own words. Try listening to the actual lyrics. It's a song about contemplating suicide. Couldn't be more clear about it.
@jackal242 "Basically, 'Hyper-ballad' is about having this kind of bag going on and three years have passed and you're not high anymore. You have to make an effort consciously and nature's not helping you anymore. So you wake up early in the morning and you sneak outside and you do something horrible and destructive, break whatever you can find, watch a horrible film, read a bit of William Burroughs, something really gross and come home and be like, 'Hi honey, how are you?'."
It's a metaphor for the relationship. It's high, on a mountain, with a beautiful view. The reality of watching things fall and crash and envisioning herself falling and crashing makes her feel better about the beautiful, lofty, dream-like life she lives. Better to see it end during a symbolic morning ritual than to see it truly end.
her voice sounds a little sluggish here. She still makes it work beautifully, but these are just little things you notice when you are a singer yourself
I love how 2 things easily pronounced pretentious when taken separately (Bjork and the London Opera) are the exact opposite when combined. This whole concert feels full of grace, joy, and raw power, but above all, FUN. Hard to do in a space like this. She's the anti-Gaga: you get a rich, immersive experience that isn't slick and manufactured. I.e., she is comfortable letting her choir dance however they like, which is great! The music is the only spectacle; it speaks for itself.
@inspireradavstatyer Wow, such vehemence for a comment that is 4 months old! Look, I love Gaga AND Bjork, but I realize as well as she does that Gaga sucks the corporate cock and swallows afterward. Look at her comments on Fame Monster: when you become ultra-famous you have to let go of a lot of who you are, and she's fine with that. I love them both, I was just pointing out how completely different they are. Judging by your list of favorites, I doubt you'll believe me, but whatever.
I think the song is about her finally finding a relationship that puts her soul at peace, and it makes her uneasy because she's never had that before. As a reflex, she's creating internal conflict because that's what's comfortable for her.
I think this song is that she might commit suicide, but only afer the other person she refers to is no longer there..
she is appreciating all that she has and that at the same moment imagining what it would be like if she does not have those stuff/no longer needs those stuff
also, she seems to be suggesting that by contemplating suicide, she is appreciating the existing things even more, which is emphasized by the upbeat last verse..
Cool interpretation. For me it sounds more like she is living something she is not happy with, so she tries to make herself happier for the other person but deep inside of her she wants to jump of the cliff. It's a great song anyway!
i think its your third suggestion ....she goes to the cliff and imagines her own death or frailty , so she can go back and feel safe again with her lover .
I think this song is that she might commit suicide, but only afer the other person she refers to is no longer there..

for me absolutely the best version of hyperballad and one of my absolutely fav live versions of anything. she enjoys it so much... (really a bit sad when comparing it to voltaic where she really battled)
she has some extraordinary composure. despite all of her vocal quirks (which are beautiful) she completely nails this song in front of an audience. very few popular, traditional vocalists can do the same.

@jackal242 Actually no. She said it a song about getting bored in a relationship.
She does these things to spice things up and to scare her. So when she goes home she can appreciate her partner.

@inqueling Thumbs down for such a lousy comment.

I can honestly say i feel Björks live voice is just as good as the recordings chosen to be on her albums!

btw i love 3:15 when matmos make the beat more disco-like and she smiles, so free and full of joy:)

@pyschosadist777
Cool interpretation. For me it sounds more like she is living something she is not happy with, so she tries to make herself happier for the other person but deep inside of her she wants to jump of the cliff. It's a great song anyway!

i think its your third suggestion ....she goes to the cliff and imagines her own death or frailty , so she can go back and feel safe again with her lover .

for me absolutely the best version of hyperballad and one of my absolutely fav live versions of anything. she enjoys it so much... (really a bit sad when comparing it to voltaic where she really battled)

she has some extraordinary composure. despite all of her vocal quirks (which are beautiful) she completely nails this song in front of an audience. very few popular, traditional vocalists can do the same.
