Cleaned my WRX MY06 MAF sensor wires. The nice thing is, you can just disconnect it, and remove two screws and whip it out as a small module. Takes 5 minutes. Uses a 2 hot-wire arrangement. Do not drop it or damage it, or you're looking at $250+ for the original part!
cleaned my 2001 ford taurus ses maf sensor with this today, worked amazing
a lot smother start up and could tell a big difference when i took it for a drive
you don't need to use as much as the guy in the video, just a couple sprays DO NOT try to wipe anything off in side by maf wires just spray and air dry for around 20 min to 30 min and your set so easy to do and such a big difference
After a $150 tune up to my 1999 GMC Jimmy didn't fix the start up hesitation and no power from a complete stop problem, I figured I would try this cleaner. OH MY GOD! I feel like I'm driving a new vehicle. No more hesitation and it will smoke the tires from a complete stop. I definitely recommend this product.
Thank you CRC. I have a 2005 F150 5.4 engine, after doing a full tune up my idle was of multible code errors. I saw this video and tried it. Extremely easy and what a difference, it even solved a jerking action when the truck reached 30-40mph. Thank you
I'm all for CRC products, but I did find it pretty ridiculous when brake cleaner was being sprayed on the piece of plastic, the person holding it was bending it insuring it to snap. When MAF cleaner was sprayed on it he was applying no pressure. I felt like I was watching a corny late night Billy Mays infomercial.
@Jo060 lol this comment flagged as spam? Why? Cuz he said this video was like a late night commercial (ie, kinda like spam). But THIS PERSON'S comment was not spam. I saw the same thing with the plastic--no bending it when the CRC product was sprayed. So nice comment @Jo060
It is not recommended to touch the sensor wires as they are extremely thin and sensitive. The CRC MAF cleaner does come out of the can with enough force to clean the wires enough to improve performance without swabbing. Swabbing the wires greatly increases the change of damaging the wires which would render the sensor useless and thus requiring a costly replacement.
that type of MAF , at least remove the aibox boot, you need a torx to remove both of the aluminum adapters at either end. if you don't you can spray all day long, you need to get in their with a swab.
@Jcal022 This applies to any vehicles that have a Karman Vortex Mass Air Flow Sensor. The best way to find out if your make and model has this type of MAF Sensor is to contact your local dealership. If you do have this type of MAF Sensor, unfortunately there are no alternative products. Due to the hyper sensitivity of this sensor you are unable to actually clean it, eventually it will need to be replaced.
hahaha im all stoned and i see that when he uses the carb cleaner and other "none" maf sensor items he forces it all hard so it can brake and on theirs he just holds the plastic.. hahahhaha HOW LAME... next this joker is going to tell me not to put acetone in my tank because it will mess up my car.. right? even though most products to clean the tank and injectors have acetone!
It does appear that he uses quite a bit in the vid doesn't it? No, you don't need to use quite that much chem. You should be able to get about 8 to 10 jobs out of one can of MAF sensor cleaner however, since the chemical is quick drying and plastic safe, it is safe to use as much as you see fit. In the video they switch angles and cameras making it look as if he is spraying non-stop but it is not necessary to spray that long.
@raygoza626 perhaps it is his thrifty ways that allow him to buy such a nice car? If 15 minutes and a can of cleaner can save him $375, why wouldn't he do it? Over time, that nicer $68K car doing his own repairs vs a $25K car bringing it in for everything would eventually be equal. (CRYBABY)
Best stuff on the market. I have a $68,000 BMW M5 and dealer tried to tell me i needed new MAF sensor ($375) but with a can of this stuff ($10) my car's power is restored!!!
Since the wire in the mass air flow sensor is so fragile and sensitive it is recommended that you use only a cleaner that is designed specifically for cleaning them. Also, many other cleaners are not plastic safe and may cause damage to the housing too. MetroSupply.
@metrosupply@metrosupply I have a plastic safe electrical contact cleaner which i believe is made by CRC, It leaves no residue and i don't think it's corrosive. Do you have any idea whether this product would be acceptable? I don't really want to buy another can as i am not a mechanic. cheers :)
Due to the fact that the CRC QD Electronic Cleaner being plastic safe it could be used to clean the sensor wire however, the CRC 05110 MAF Sensor Cleaner is designed specifically for this purpose and is more efficient at cleaning the sensor wire.

Also, try using spell check and a period every now and then in your sentences so everyone can make sense of your statements.
