can you guys do a few reviews on some sunbeams? Im looking to get one of these as My budget is a little low. want to get a "meh" grinder and machine for around 500-600
@SeattleCoffeeGear Hello kat, I would like some great advice, Im from singapore, and im looking for a semi automatic machine..im looking at the prosumer? i think thats what they call it like, uhm the brewtus, giotto etc etc. I am purchasing it by means of having Control over my coffee brewing, and my microfoam. So i'd be able to create latte art, Ive practiced already using a moka pot and milk frother and ive done slight research but im still not able to find a suitable dual boiler machine :/
@SeattleCoffeeGear i'd also like to do everything by myself, by means of grinding. dosing and tamping. so yeah im still figuring out what kind of machine i require. And something that doesnt require so long to brew and steam milk! ( the intervals of brewing and steaming ) . giving me the quality microfoam and thick espresso
@Xiia0Sn00pY I think that any Hx machine or a double boiler would definitely meet your needs if you're okay with dropping that kind of cash. They would enable you to make your drinks quickly as you'd be able to brew/steam simultaneously. I love the Rockets and think they are a great choice for folks who do want to get into the nitty gritty of espresso prep. - Kat
@romancewriter We are updating our 'selecting a machine' series with newer machines; this is a great additional idea -- thanks for suggesting it! - Kat
@SeattleCoffeeGear I was wondering if you have reviewed the Cuisinart EM 100-C? I have a chance to pick one up for a really great deal in a couple of days. Just home morning use for some latte's.
@BloodAndThunder00 We haven't tested any Cuisinart machines -- it's not a brand that we can carry, business-wise, so haven't setup that relationship. So...no feedback for you, sorry :( - Kat
@SeattleCoffeeGear Haha, that's ok! I got it anyways and it's actually working quite well for what I paid for it. Thanks for getting back to me anyways though and keep up the good work!
@ericsummey95 If you don't want to deal with a grinder and want to buy your coffee pre-ground, I'd go with the Saeco Via Venezia. You'll be able to use pre-ground coffee and the steam wand on this model is a bit easier to use than that on the Aroma. Let me know if you have any other questions - thanks! - Kat
@barondandy1 Hi there! Thanks for watching. Either of these machines are a great choice and will improve your current espresso prep experience considerably. I personally have a preference for the Cellini, but the Andreja is also a great machine. I kind of think that the differences are so minimal, it's almost an aesthetic decision :) - Kat
I've never tasted a coffee from a super automatic 500$+ machine that is near as good as from my Bialetti Brikka stove moka pot or even from a French press. Then again I get much best coffee from the semi-automatic ones but I'm not sure It's worth the money. I mean do they make machines without milk steaming mechanism and such to cut down cost as I and most of the people around me too never ever put milk, sugar, syrup or something like that in our coffee.
@klarinetta Would maybe something like MyPressi be more for me or am I just set good with my Bialetti Brikka ? I am a Coffee snob and a bad cup of coffee almost ruins my day(ok no really but it gets to my nerves pretty badly). I just had to ask as I live in Iceland and there is not much to choose from here and taste before you buy. And btw I drink something like 4oz of Brikka(to start the day) and 4-6 cups of regular coffee(French press or hand drip).
@klarinetta I think that the MyPressi is a great option if you're not going to be steaming; unfortunately, they don't make things that are shot only -- although it could be argued that the La Pavoni manual/lever machines are close (but they suffer from temperature fluctuations). The stovetop and French press are just very different preparation methods and are going to taste much stronger than espresso because of that. Espresso is technically more delicate and sweeter - that is the goal. - Kat
Hi. Great vids. Which one, regardless of price, is the better one of the Rancilio Epoca ST1 or the Rocket Giotto/Cellini? Which one makes the best shot, and are the best at steaming?
Well, these are very different machines. I think the Epoca will give you better steam functionality as you're working with larger boilers & more power. Shot-wise, they're both heat exchangers, so they'll be pretty similar...although the Epoca may be a little less temperamental, temperature-wise. - Kat

What would be the best machine for me? I like mainly lattes and mochas. I would like a semi-automatic, but I don't want to have to have the grinder.
