Couldnt you just add a shorter thinner spring inside the stock spring, so that stock spring would work lets say to 70% of pressure and then the new smaller spring will join to add more pressure? Is there enough space inside for it? I agree this is too expensive for just 1 spring. You can probably get a spring like that made custom for less money.
hi nice vid. I would like to know what could be done to the logitech driving force gt for more resistance. I was thinking perhaps something like this but put the shock on the back part and drill it in or something. Please help to come up with something the driving force gt is a nice wheel but the pedals are a bit of a let down.
@techluvin I have a momo which has similar pedals, one trick that helped was taking a car washing sponge and cutting a small chunk off then putting it into the hole the pedal goes down into. As you press the pedal down the sponge gets progressively stiffer and with alittle practice it has really helped my braking. A very simple cheap fix that can gain you tons of time on the track.
@killrathy if you dont have a fanatec wheel you cant use them on ps3 the mod is also almost half the price of clubsport pedals and the brake mod feels even better then the load cell on csp`s
I modded my own set of logitech pedals in a way thats similar to the nixim mod. I used a piece of rubber-like foam that came with my RC car (for fitting batteries I would assume, I never used it), and it made the pedal progressive, and its SOOO much easier to threshold brake. Big help.
Yes yes, I agree. It is far to expensive. If spending 160 bucks to upgrade my brake pedal was justifiable, I think I would just cough up the extra 40 for the load-cell mod from "perfectpedal"
@mattiusg this piece is very nice, but has a fairly 'high' price. I did change the internal spring on ALL 3 three of my pedals. I went to the hardware store (a long time ago), and tried out various spring strengths until I found what I wanted. I ended up with a fairly stiff spring in the clutch pedal, the original clutch spring moved to the throttle housing.
The brake I ran with a stiffer spring for a while, but only until I got my Andy Pastore load cell mod. It's excellent.
@mattiusg Yeah definitely. This is the lazy man's alternative. It's amazing how you can improve the G25/27 pedals just by simple means, such as a Nixim-style mod and/or a more fancy spring. Or even a loadcell.
ARC makes nice stuff, but their prices are just out of this world. Kind of like Frex..
Hey Shaun, have you seen any accelerator pedals that are a little more heavy duty on the market? The problem I have is mainly with the gas pedal. It's just too light which makes it hard to control the throttle harder to slowly apply forcing me to add too much throttle when I come out of an apex
@LordCalvertWhiskey when I first recieved my G25 pedals a looong time ago, I just went to the hardware store, and bought multiple springs to try out on all the pedals. I ended up using the original clutch spring in the throttle housing, which made it FAR better for control.
I always drive with shoes on so please take that into account.
@KamukiX Alright awesome. I don't mess around with shoes since the pedals aren't that heavy duty. I just can't feel the pedals like I do in a real car so I don't bother with shoes. But I will definitely take a gander at the hardware store. Thanks dude.
@AoDIronMask thanks sherlock holmes, but all those shoes are for outdoor dirt bikes. What I'm trying to find is those small shoes made for indoor racing...
@AoDIronMask oh cool! thanks. I was looking at bike store I think. but hey, those are expensive :( I taught they were some kind of interior shoes. I'll have to pass...
i wish you guys could review my system... we've not gone fully commercial yet, but the first prototypes are complete and for sale on order. They're in vancouver tho
these reviews aren't even looking like reviews anymore, more like ridiculous product placement. Why would anyone pay that much for two peaces of medal and a spring... It doesn't even change the wiring!
Can I mod my MS 360 pedal? What would you recommend for Xbox 360 from best to acceptable wheel/pedal models? I don't like my MS wheel I bought years ago.
Also have the MS wheel for my Xbox games, the wheel ist actually quite nice but the pedals are way too soft. May sound stupid but for Forza 3 i took a paper handkerchief folded it and put it under the brake pedal just so that i have a nice resistance right at the locking limit of the tires. Really great to drive without ABS that way because the ABS slows you down in Forza 3.
Most cars I drive in the sim are road cars with ABS anyway, so I keep that on.
Regardless, I find the spring TOO stiff for the brake pedal, but for convenience reasons as my chair is moving about and somewhat the pedals in a sideways motion, and they are backed up against the wall at this point...
As for going faster... Well I try to make the best out of what I got and try to get there with technique and mind games.
The first andlast things he says seem very cheesy and too scripted, for example 'I'm shaun cole and I'll see you on the track' just seems too cheesy to be said 1. in this context and 2. by such a well respected member of the sim racing community. but other wise a very good review
Awesome mod! I always found the brake spring of the G25/27 too light (so I often locked up, resorting to ABS in games if applicable), and the ARC Brake Pedal spring appears to fix that.
Although I don't actually have a G25/27, thanks so much for uploading. In the far future when I do have a full-on sim racing rig, I will definitely buy one of these.

Products like ClubSport pedals and the T500 RS exist. This ARC Team mod looks very high quality, but its value only seems to make sense in a vacuum.

DXTweak2 from the Logitech site is pretty much essential when using progressive braking systems.

@vidmanx0 Doesn't work in iRacing though. iRacing has it's own in game joystick calibration and overrides DXTweak

vidmanx0 10 months ago
For the record, a regular spring is actually progressive. The more it's compressed, the harder it is to compress it further. F=kx.
Not in the same way as the ARC spring of course, with the two distinct coil sections.
