  • Not the first jam band

  • these guys are the band of choice for my acid trips.

  • great song to listen on the road

  • lol @0:39

  • @xOGMETALHEAD206x So wasted he forgot to sing!

  • @justaman- Maybe it shows that Bohemian Grove is just a bunch of rich dudes partying their asses off, and acting like a fraternity for a few days

  • The Dead are a bunch of sellouts, selling their souls as well, any of you may vet the info herein:US Secretary of State Colin Powell, US Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld, former Greatful Dead bandmates, and winemaker Robert Mondavi were all scheduled to attend the 125th Midsummer three week Encampment of the Bohemian Grove Club in San Francisco. Says something about them don't it?

  • gzeuskreist = jesus christ = most overrated religion of all time

  • @KnockedDown183 I love both bands, but in my opinion they are on the same level creativity wise and vocal wise, any other contributing factors are purely subjective.

  • you have his asshole roomate on i c?????????

  • whose on intensive care? not my boyfriend.

  • Is that Jerry Rubin in the background?

  • I like how he forgot the lyrics in the beginning, makes me feel better when i forget my own lyrics too.

  • This song kind of says it all, for me at least.

  • Sadly, as a 19 year old fan, this is the closest I'll ever get to seeing them live...

  • @pkstaaarstorm Go see Furthur! 22 yr old fan here so I never saw the real deal either. Just go see Furthur. Of course it's not the same (I assume) but it's still magical. Those shows mean a lot to me. Go see them if you can they just announced a spring tour.

  • Europe '72.. possibly one of if not the greatest live album ever compiled..

Check my page for more old, new, unreleased and obscure dead tunes :)

  • The guy below me can go fuck himself.

  • @WhySoManyOMGs Surely he was being ironic...Nickleback are a passing joke.

  • @deluxetwelve Whoa your right... I was watching a Journey video and then I saw that comment and said that... this music is crap...

  • @WhySoManyOMGs well, he's probably like 12 or 13 anyway.

  • @bckm54 yep

  • there is so much hair in that front row!

  • I never "got" the Dead, but i DO like Truckin

  • shouldnt this be like twice as long

  • I love Jerry's reaction to Bob Weir missing the first verse. Hahahahahahahaha

  • like this if you think the top two comments are fucking attention whores who think its cool to accept people

  • haha what happened at 0:38 ? Weir forget the lyrics?=p

  • Controversy is of the imagination

    Causing all the disruption

    Having no eternal duration

    Except to those of corruption

    Hence the hell you fashion

By your lust full envious desire

    Is of your illusionary passion

    Sinking you into the mire

  • I never heard of these guys before but I kinda like there music. Beatles are better though. =)

  • I love their t-shirts, don't like the music.

  • Ooo, I love how bluesy this is.

  • The people who disliked this vid thats how small there dicks are.

  • Anytime im down and need to somewhere to turn the dead always hears my call

  • DeadHead for life!

  • Not as good as Justin Biber but I guess its okay.

  • @BusinessEdgeRadio Fuck you.

  • @XBLJayRinK Another hater who has no idea about talent, I bet you like the beetles too right? Lamer !

  • @BusinessEdgeRadio Obvious troll is obvious.

  • @BusinessEdgeRadio I sincerely hope your being sarcastic, for everyones good.

  • live at the greek tonight

  • I miss the tour.. I miss jerry...I love furthur etc...but THERE IS NOTHING LIKE A DEAD SHOW!!!

  • gosh...I'm in love <3

  • I saw the Dead back in the day. There ain't nothin' I can say that would be enough.

  • i want to thank everyone who disliked, cause now the "like bar" looks like a lit joint. thanks.

  • @texrobertex Not sure whether to light it more or not...

  • @texrobertex looks like its dieing im guna fix it

  • @texrobertex youre a god, man!

  • The most overrated band in history. Their music is sadly entirely forgettable. I see Grateful Dead as the counter culture Michael Jackson. A marketing phenom, but musically a big yawn. Michael Jackson can at least claim to be a dance act.

  • Respond to this video... so WHY are you here listening to the Dead you moron.. go to Micheal Jackson vids, where you belong! The Dead are an ICON! GTFO

  • @chunhaylee Hey, I respect that you don't like the Grateful Dead's music, but don't go insulting just because you don't get it.

  • Like this if you accept the 107 people with other musical tastes.

  • So there's 106 people in this world that I hope die a painful death. . .

  • I never saw the Dead in concert, but I paid for the American Beauty vinyl in the UK when I was still at school in 1970. Later I was at Stanford on a course and remember walking down Palo Alto main street after lucking out on some Iron Butterfly CDs I couldn't get back home - it was just down from that cinema that's always showing old b&w movies - and I saw the inevitable 'Dead Head sticker on a Cadillac'. It freaked me then, but of course it was a stunt and a nod to 'Boys of Summer'. Memories!

  • Haha he messed up but he went on cause that's what true musicans do!

  • Fabulously talented band but you can tell they didn't rehearse for this gig. Their timing is all over the place - nowhere near tight enough.

  • @harryf200 thats how bands make there own sound.

if everything is perfect it all ends up sounding the same

  • Man, Pig could be a great keys player when they needed him. Shame Tom and Keith overshadowed him in the years beore he died.

  • @fubsie2 He was a dying alcoholic. Talented, yes. But he undershadowed himself.

  • i like how he knows he messed up but continues the song keeps it going thats classic rock music live at its best!!!!

  • thats all i wanta do, is go truckin!

  • haha jimmy buffet and greatful dead dad jams

  • one more

    thats me :->

  • @TheMrkhoipham lame bro. hes nothin special. i had a great voice as a prepubescent, the nuns made me sing at mass. but it doesntmean i exploited this talent. just anther michael jackson, or brat pack kid. hopefully he does see the light tho. i mean, bobby was like 16 or 17 when he joined up with phill and jerry and pig

  • I see we have 97 Justin Beiber fans on here.

  • @ZeldaZiplock I'm so terribly sorry for plagiarizing your comment. My bad.

  • @ZeldaZiplock hahahhahaha, fuck em. maybe they'll see whats up!!!!

  • But if you gotta a warrant, I guess you're gonna come in

  • @faitharmstrong it's "who are", and some people have different tastes than you, i'm one of them

  • @JSstrat not faith my friend it's fatih. it's a name.

  • havent listen to the dead in a couple months. man, i was missin out.

  • everybody say it together..overrated! lol

  • @FrequentlyFried They actually weren't overrated...The Beatles for example are. Because they KNEW they were important and talented but also made sure it was in the ass of everyone. The Dead were important, talented (even more so than the Beatles) and didn't cram it up everyone's ass and down everyone's throats.

  • @penningtonant I agree altho' I suggest that McCartney's song writing trumps. You'll great grandchildren will still be hearing the melodies he wrote. As instrumentalists, The Dead every time. But as a band ,The Dead could be superb but they were too often a group of highly talented instrumentalists than a band. The Beatles always played it tight. They were near perfectionists in that respect. The Dead? They'd play together with a "it's near enough" kind of approach e.g. vocals not in sync.

  • @harryf200 Thats all part of the experience. They have a unique sound and you instantly know who it is when one of their songs come on.

  • @penningtonant you are so wrong the beatles revolutionized music a couple of times the dead were a great band not on the same level

  • @elvispresley718 Wrong. They revolutionized a certain type of music and just because they were the first, does not mean they were the best. You are right, the Dead are on a much higher level.

  • @penningtonant You sir, are an idiot. I understand that everyone "has their opinions" and all that bullshit, but to say that a band DIRECTLY INFLUENCED BY THE BEATLES, IS BETTER THAN THE BEATLES IS SIMPLY ABSURD. Fuck off, you idiotic twat. And the Dead did revolutionize a certain type of music. That type of music was revolutionized originally by The Beatles. But alright, bud.

  • @KnockedDown183 yeah, the Dead revolutionized the jam-rock genre of music [which the Beatles had nothing to do with] with a little help from Jefferson Airplaine, Quiksilver Messenger Service, NRPS, Family Dog Productions, etc. Its the Haight-Ashbury scene & was completely different than what the Beatles were doing. I never heard a 20-minute jam by the Beatles, have you?

  • @KnockedDown183 just becasue a band was influenced by a band dosen't mean they can never be better. i mean, bands like Led Zeppelin, The Who, and bands like that can definantly be better than the beatles.

  • NO BARRICADES, right up on the monitors, Jerry playin a Fender,

PS. there's a village somewhere missing 94 idoits.

  • No hate from the crowd when he messes up, gotta love it

  • @HighImBaked that's becaue theyre all high as shit

  • @BGStorm4 On much more than weed ;)

    LSD!

  • ummm...awesome song. I was gonna say awesong. lol

  • Aguante Jerry García, que facha !!

  • philoswalk,com-one man walking from new york to cali for freedom. hilarious dude. walking for freedom. gauranteed controversy and entertianment from this man. live updates on his walk which begins aug 13th. check it out. follow along if ud like.

  • @MsCnmngrl Thank you.

  • :39 something about him realizing he almost messed up makes this soo bad-ass. the fact that you realize that these stars can all still be on the verge of making mistakes, yet they keep their cool throughout their shows makes them that much cooler. Makes me feel like they really are in it for the musc. They aren't making their music to where it's too comfortable for them to play anytime, there's actual effort and work put into it, they push themselves. I love that.

  • @lawlawlawlful You are the reason my brain hurts.

  • ouch!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @lawlawlawlful #12 is cool and all but numbering aside, there are only 10 facts.

  • what I love about the dead is that bob fucks up, but just smiles and continues on.

Even better you can see Jerry's grizzly-ass just give his wonderful smile and the vibe "that it's all good man"

Life *is* good. The Grateful Dead got that. That's what makes them great.

  • good for him :) i wanna join.

    =

  • Geeee what a drive ;-) unfortunately i was too young to attend the gig in Tivoli concert hall at that time, but my uncle went there and told my years later how great the performed ;-)

  • In my personal 14 year old opinion the Grateful Dead is the best band ever.

  • @MountainMan323 You are an extremely wise 14 year old!

  • Bob fucked up the first lyrics, hehehe. The band held together.

  • @kindlerclan I have yet to find a Truckin' where Bob gets all the lyrics right

  • The person who said grateful dead is a waste of life has no life and needs to discover the greatness in the music....

  • Hippies were just a bunch of kids playing around, who hates kids?

But ain't for shit if it don't go somewhere

  • @Epicpofunk

Where would you have them go?

  • @Pinkspiderable Not for me to say, but kids get an education for a career. Hippies got an education in mental experimentation. That should get you ready for something. Many have used that experience. But we still have Nixon's Drug War, a terrible education system, we still send troops to strange countries and shoot the local thugs. Where was the Peace Not War generation when the pols got "tough on crime", or played Blue vs. Red or Lets Blame Dictators? What did they change?

  • Okay, here's my comment as a non-Deadhead who was nonetheless touched by the magic....when I was young and had a period of self-scarring i was sent for some psychological evaluation. They gave me a form of phrases to complete...one just began with the word "Sometimes..." I finished the phrase with "the lights are all shinin' on me..." They didn't know what to make of that! Anyway, check my channel for some good blues slide guitar...peace, y'all.

  • @alexxxxxx

you sir, are a phenominal comedian

  • 93 should go and get trucked

  • i hate hippies and everything they stand for but these guys are just too good of a band.

  • j'aime !!! j'adore les Grateful dead !!

  • Classic tune. There's a funny parity of St. Stephen at a website called Noveltyjoes.

  • I think it's high time I dusted off my bass...

  • That Happed to me the last time I played.. Couldn't remember the words to the beginning of the song and had to step back and think... Good Song.. We use to play this many years ago...

  • i sent this video to about 1.7 million people.

2329 people are my great friends.

Im no long talking to 92 people

  • I feel the sudden urge to kick 92 people's asses

  • Them good ol' country boys.

  • great full dead anit good band even though they play well there famous for drugs

  • @strikesoldiers lol if drugs didn't play a part in your post I feel very sorry for you my friend

  • @strikesoldiers do you have a serious/life changing head injury?? I found 7 grammar errors in your comment. congratulations! you are now famous for doing drugs! you would do better to not use the words good/bad. when describing the longest touring band in the history of mankind. although it is your opinion and I would fight to the death for you to have it be free to say. it's just bad taste! PEACE!!

  • He missed a verse at first, but this is an excellent performance regardless. ^_^

  • da war die welt noch in ordnung!

  • Who's the 91 music retards?

  • @FatihArmstrong Who's the 98 music retards?

Gotta keep up with it so you know how manys out there.

  • @GADawg0422 those 100 people are all Justin Bieber/Lady Gaga rejects. Pay no attention to the virgin stone free unbelievers. They will follow the dead in time. We all do.

  • True that Brother. I listen to all kinds of music and can not stand today's gay ass pop. I though I was growing old but I guess the newer younger generation is the one that will never know how to differentiate between studio recorded, autotuned bullcorn versus live greatness of the dead.

  • @FatihArmstrong I AM ! GO MOZART !

  • excellent to You and Fire on the Mountain and in what town does Uncle Ed live.

  • excellent to You and Fire on the Mountain

  • @brandinator It's kinda hard to sing harmony with yourself live isn't it?

  • this is hard to sing

  • @brandinator22 If you can't sing to begin with.

  • @sobm3

nah, i'm a singer, but the harmonies in this song are hard to perform

  • truckin rhymes with fuckin........hehehehe

  • My parent aren't Dead Heads, but that's ok. Not everybody shares the same musical tastes.

  • I like how he slips, and smiles, and Jerry looks over to him. Hehe. <3

  • We must bring back the 60"s…and 70"s…and everything good! You guys will also love the song "I"ll Wander" by Genry Gene

  • @mollyzuppa22 oh yeah, EVERYTHING good. vietnam, racial strife, kent state, mayor daily, kennedy murders.

hey man,- be careful of u'r use of the work 'everything' ! great musiic, yes. VERY tough times though.

  • Personally I like the Dead. They combine Rock'n'Roll R&B, bluegrass, the Dead has it all!

  • @thebagsnow That's OK....we're not very fond of you either ;-)

  • @thebagsnow

chilllllllllllll out maaaaaaaaaan. smoke some green crack. it'll bring ya way back!

  • though this is not my style of music, these fellas sound quite good live. I never knew.

  • was bob weir on lead vocals in the album version too?

  • I LOVE THIS BAND

  • hey everybody, I'm just getting into the Grateful Dead, are there any songs/albums anybody would recommend? that would be great, thanks.

  • @beatlemaniac1966 Their first 5 albums + Europe 72

  • @beatlemaniac1966 i recommend you to pick any compilation album by them, from that you can start listen to other albums

  • @beatlemaniac1966 Not really, just go dig up some King Crimson vinyls instead. :D

  • too bad this video ends right as the tune really starts heating up!

  • thumbs up if you like srvistheman320's "if you like BPLIMSER's "don't give a shit about the vocal slip up" comment" comment

  • @NotForHire42 haha well played.

  • @robps89 :)

  • @NotForHire42 So Meta

  • thumbs up if you like BPLIMSER's "don't give a shit about the vocal slip up" comment

  • That shit happens all the time when you're high as hell!

  • Peace man

  • Fuck Yes, Bobby!! We still love you!!

[made me love you even more]

  • R.I.P bear.

  • I Fucking Love the Grateful Dead!

  • I love this band!

  • I miss going to Dead shows! I had a ton of fun back then!

  • Bob is the man, he got away with that fuck up at the beginning. Lol

  • Hell I am your daddy

  • wicked, man oh man something is seriously wrong if you don't love the dead, you just gotta move when they play.... wooooohoooo

  • does anyone else find jerry cute in a teddy bear kindof way?

  • @frenchie2alfalfa I hope you're a chick. Well, either way, I don't judge you. He's great in a Regular Guy Way, too.

  • Brilliant!

  • My Big Uncle Ed, aka "Big Eddie Hell" used to travel on tour with the Grateful Dead in the 60's-70's. At family get togethers, he always tells unbelievably crazy stories of heavy drinking, drug experementation, and unprotected sex with random women.

He now dwells in a makeshift tree fort somewhere hidden in the forrest, accompanied only by his cat and massive amounts of booze.

He also drives a beat up '87 white Dodge van with no windows and a massive exhaust leak.

  • @DanSVT03 Sounds like my kind o people!

  • @DanSVT03 he sounds like a champ
