at 01:22 he got it wrong. at the 12th fret its the second harmonic, there's no such thing as the first harmonic. kinda sad really considering he has a phd in guitar acoustics or so he says.

Hi monkeyfodder,

Calling the fundamental the "zeroth" harmonic or the "first" harmonic is a matter of rather arbitrary convention. The latter is more common and fits with odd & even harmonics better. The former is more inuitive so I chose it for this "physics for a lay audience" programme.

There's certainly no call for impugning my integrity - you can read my PhD thesis abstract on the Cardiff University website.
