Where is the video where they race the Evo MR and STi from 0 - 100 - 0 and the driver of the STi (after the evo won) said the only way he could have beaten the EVO was if he hit a tree during the braking section. Need to find.

The two cars used to be REALLY similar back in 2005. In the recent years is when we've been seeing the two cars really transform and become more distinctive of each other than they were 5 or so years ago.
Honestly, anyone saying they prefer one and then saying the other one completely sucks and is a piece of shit is a moron. How can you like one, but think a copy of it with little changes sucks? Bottom line is they're both sick cars each having their minor advantages over each other here and there. Any differences can be fixed with minor modifications. True car/rally enthusiasts naturally will like one over the other due to some personal preferences, but will appreciate the other.
I feel bummed out. Every review says the Evo is better and I cant fit inside. I'm a big dude and have enormous shoulders and the Evo's seat is way too narrow for me. I've driven everything in the $40K range, even a Cayman S and still like the STI the most. Is there a way to order the Evo from the factory with a different seat? I can't go by EVO vs. STI reviews as I can't fit (it automatically eliminates the EVO and leaves the STI as the winner). Is there anything I can do?
I know that you can call Mitsubishi and they can take care of it and send out a person to measure your sizes and they will make custom seats passenger and driver. but of course all expenses are going to be one you. But if you are wishing to get custom seats I'm sure you have the money to get it done. Now I have to say, I own a 2009 STi and I love it much better than the EVO X. I'm not being biased my brother has the EVO X, but it just isn't me. If you want to do more imo go with the Sti.
Yeah, The Evo is already more than my budget, so custom seats aren't going to happen. I'll probably end up with the STI as well. I'm a musician and the wagon hatch will make it a lot easier to haul my gear around :)
Yeah, idk why it's starting price is so high. It just doesn't have the same power as the Sti and the looks though, I like the Sti over the evo any day.
@commercialking i have the same problem im 6' 5" the only thing you can do is buy an after market seat or one from a salvage yard thats bigger and bolt it down, or have one custom made, other wise see if the dealer will put in a seat from the regular evo even if it means paying a few hundred more
the GSR has a seat option. i think the MR comes standard with them hugging Recaro seats. we own both in my family, I personally think the STI is better. The transmission in the STI is a big winner as compare to the one in the GSR. On top of that, i heard the duel clutch in the evo is a bit harsh on day to day/high volume traffic drive.
I finally got to test the EVO (stick shift). I was disappointing as all the reviews liked the evo, but I feel the STI is better. The EVO might be a hair faster, but the subaru seemed more fun. I can also throw my mountain bike in the back of the STI. The evo's spoiler gets in the way and the seats don't fold flat. The Sti looks much better too. I gotta save my pennies ;)

Yeah I don't know about that man and I've owned my Rs since 01' and have been into subaru's since 99'. An evo usually handles better out of the box. But most people upgrade the suspension. Subaru was more successful in rally because Prodive is a great company and knows how to build a car. Mitsu had its downfall with the evo 8/9 body style in rally and never recovered.
Evos have been rallied longer than STIs... They are just more common to be seen rallying in the US because Subaru of America dumps buckets of money into the US. In Europe, the Evos have a better record and perform better.
Gotta friend looking at both. He has a S2000 already. The EVO seats don't fold down. The other problem in the USA is Mitsubishi feels like they may go away. They really have not had a good selling car in a long time. And reliability sucks in general. Subaru on the other hand has increased market share ALOT. I am sure that's cause many are built here. But also our weather lends itself to the practicality of AWD with a wagon or small suv. I see a lot of them in the North East, and Canada.
Kens, the EVO back seats have a pass through but don't fold down as a) there are strut bars crossing the back wheel well b) the battery and reserve fluids are there to improve weight distribution and result in better handling, both of which (along with s-awc with yaw control, which is a more advanced AWD system,) contribute to the EVO to pull higher G's, better lap times, better balanced car, and with three AWD settings. Want a backseat? Buy a camry or the subie wagon. Want performance? EVO. ;)
Sorry that is very narrow minded. The stats between the cars are very small...even on a track. On the street its not even worth mentioning. With the Subie. He can have it all.. a good grocery getter, a back seat.. and folding seats to put his $5000 bicycle in. The point is the car does all he wants and has good performance. In the summer he drives his S2000, which outperforms BOTH!! the EVO and STI... this is his winter fun car.

Subaru makes more reliable cars thats why it sells more. However, you must be a broke piece of crap to think of reliability to buy a rally inspired car. And you must also be stupid to buy the STI as it is a disqualified rally car with its 2.5L engine in the new model. Meaning I can drive up to a rally race and register to race with my EVO X but the new STI will be automatically disqualified. Fake rally car!! LOL Not like I gonna rally race it but knowing its the real thing makes me proud.

I have the evo x. I spent 2k on turboback exhaust, drop in filter and all the intercooler pipes are steel pipes now. All these followed by a stage 2 tune. Making 78 more horsepower. Totals to about 370hp. Subaru? can go suck it coz even if you get 370hp with a subie, you dont have the handling. spend another 4k to fix stupid suspension if you got the subie? and you still will NEVER have super all wheel control... 0.99G baby!! subie will NEVER get it... sorry subie owners.. spit on your car now
you're right "subaru" can possibly reach 100k miles on most models... But its stupid to think a turbo charged STI can get there with no problems at all. Plus, by then, any STI/EVO owner would have swapped the entire car with performance parts its no longer the original thing. In the end, the hatchback will still look like cow dump 10 years later. I get people coming up to me with the evo and say "nice ride dude..". STI is not going to get any of that.
I own a 06 STI w/ 78,000 miles Bone Stock(no need for aftermarket parts), up and down this car goes year round taking on EVOs with "modified" parts at times, but it all depends on the driver. Anyways the trippy part of owning a STI is that I was told by an EVO onwer "nice ride dude" now thats something EVOs will never get, 100k with no problems? I believe we can get there and then more.

The 2009 WRX kills the evo, for ten grand less. Just drove them both last weekend. Seriously, I would take most minivans over the Evo. Handling and low end accel. would be better for sure in the van. (Preferably a previa)
well i dont know 100% but to me it seems as though an evo front end will not fit onto a skyline or vice versa because the skyline front is extremely large. i mean, it needs to be pretty big to fit a straight six. the evo has a four cylinder so the engine bay will probably be smaller seeing as it doesnt need as much room.
I also have a question for everybody, say you're looking at cars. You come across the Audi RS4 or the Sti or and Evo, or even a Volvo that type R or whatever. Which do you take? Price wise the I'd take the Sti.
Out of all the cars you just mentioned, the STI is, by far, the ugliest. I'd have to flip a coin for the Evo and RS4. But, I'd still take the S60R before the STi so as not to be mistaken for a Ford Focus. I'd just have to do a little tuning to the R to keep up.

Sure from the factory the Evo might be slightly quicker, but that's from what I've read. i have driven the sti and the evo x...its a shame that my girlfriend chose the sti over the evo because she said and i quote "Its REALLY cute I love it!" but when we drove the evo x she got scared and wanted me to get the slower car...i was convenced, im getting my evo x GSR tomarrow. i love it.
the evo would be my choice if it had a 6 speed and better suspension. In my opinion the sti corners and handles better plus the suspension is unbeatable.
Real evo/sti nuts are into these cars for their raw performance. not their looks, and both cars lost some of that rawness to appeal to a larger crowd of people who are into looks, smooth power, and comfort.. although the new wrx/sti sure looks like it got much uglier, and lost alot of its raw performance. the new evo's killer front end doesnt make up for its horrid rear design, massive center of gravity, and underdone fenders. sti is ugly from all angles, at least the evo has a couple good ones
MY personality says Evo as well; if i am going to buy a performance sedan, i would go for more performance over daily drivability any day of the year.

EVO X is a bit harder then the STI not too great for the daily road but STI is very soft and a bit more comfortable then the EVO X and STI a bit spacious then EVO X
I have always been a fan of the evo. After driving the evo x and 2011 sti i have to admit the sti is nicer to drive (hard to beat the exhaust note)

Subaru was more successful in rally because Prodive is a great company and knows how to build a car. Mitsu had its downfall with the evo 8/9 body style in rally and never recovered.

Evos have been rallied longer than STIs... They are just more common to be seen rallying in the US because Subaru of America dumps buckets of money into the US. In Europe, the Evos have a better record and perform better.

Gotta friend looking at both. He has a S2000 already. The EVO seats don't fold down. The other problem in the USA is Mitsubishi feels like they may go away. They really have not had a good selling car in a long time. And reliability sucks in general. Subaru on the other hand has increased market share ALOT. I am sure that's cause many are built here. But also our weather lends itself to the practicality of AWD with a wagon or small suv. I see a lot of them in the North East, and Canada.

Kens, the EVO back seats have a pass through but don't fold down as a) there are strut bars crossing the back wheel well b) the battery and reserve fluids are there to improve weight distribution and result in better handling, both of which (along with s-awc with yaw control, which is a more advanced AWD system,) contribute to the EVO to pull higher G's, better lap times, better balanced car, and with three AWD settings. Want a backseat? Buy a camry or the subie wagon. Want performance? EVO. ;)

Sorry that is very narrow minded. The stats between the cars are very small...even on a track. On the street its not even worth mentioning. With the Subie. He can have it all.. a good grocery getter, a back seat.. and folding seats to put his $5000 bicycle in. The point is the car does all he wants and has good performance. In the summer he drives his S2000, which outperforms BOTH!! the EVO and STI... this is his winter fun car.

Kens, "narrow minded?"; don't be threatened by the reality of a situation. The EVO's numbers are better, fact; and the looks are subjective, (but most+1 for EVO BY FAR). The difference on the street is worth mentioning, otherwise why would you 'friend' care enough to by an STI over a WRX if "stats aren't even worth mentioning"? Furthermore why would you care? You said "S2000 outperforms both!" Um no, a stock s2000 will not out perform an EVO or an STI. I guess we will have to agree to disagree;)

All you Evo fan, you guys think you know so much about the Sti, but u don't becuase u have never tested yourself. like one of you who say "oh evo so fast it's 0-60 is 4.3 sec", that's bull u just hear other people say yeah it runs 4.3 sec in 0-60. but really when u run it yourself you will do a 5.0 sec. it depends on the driver Stupid. all I know is stop Hating and get your facts straight before you want to talk Smack...Don't underestimate that hatchback or You'll get OWN. Subaru makes more reliable cars thats why it sells more. However, you must be a broke piece of crap to think of reliability to buy a rally inspired car. And you must also be stupid to buy the STI as it is a disqualified rally car with its 2.5L engine in the new model. Meaning I can drive up to a rally race and register to race with my EVO X but the new STI will be automatically disqualified. Fake rally car!! LOL Not like I gonna rally race it but knowing its the real thing makes me proud.

I have the evo x. I spent 2k on turboback exhaust, drop in filter and all the intercooler pipes are steel pipes now. All these followed by a stage 2 tune. Making 78 more horsepower. Totals to about 370hp. Subaru? can go suck it coz even if you get 370hp with a subie, you dont have the handling. spend another 4k to fix stupid suspension if you got the subie? and you still will NEVER have super all wheel control... 0.99G baby!! subie will NEVER get it... sorry subie owners.. spit on your car now

you're right "subaru" can possibly reach 100k miles on most models... But its stupid to think a turbo charged STI can get there with no problems at all. Plus, by then, any STI/EVO owner would have swapped the entire car with performance parts its no longer the original thing. In the end, the hatchback will still look like cow dump 10 years later. I get people coming up to me with the evo and say "nice ride dude..". STI is not going to get any of that.

I own a 06 STI w/ 78,000 miles Bone Stock(no need for aftermarket parts), up and down this car goes year round taking on EVOs with "modified" parts at times, but it all depends on the driver. Anyways the trippy part of owning a STI is that I was told by an EVO onwer "nice ride dude" now thats something EVOs will never get, 100k with no problems? I believe we can get there and then more.

Tell you the truth, Evo is a lot better than the STi, ever since it came to production.
Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution was one of the most sucessful car for Mitsubishi, and it was always better than the Subaru WRX STi.

The 2009 WRX kills the evo, for ten grand less. Just drove them both last weekend. Seriously, I would take most minivans over the Evo. Handling and low end accel. would be better for sure in the van. (Preferably a previa)

well i dont know 100% but to me it seems as though an evo front end will not fit onto a skyline or vice versa because the skyline front is extremely large. i mean, it needs to be pretty big to fit a straight six. the evo has a four cylinder so the engine bay will probably be smaller seeing as it doesnt need as much room.

Out of all the cars you just mentioned, the STI is, by far, the ugliest. I'd have to flip a coin for the Evo and RS4. But, I'd still take the S60R before the STi so as not to be mistaken for a Ford Focus. I'd just have to do a little tuning to the R to keep up.

Sure from the factory the Evo might be slightly quicker, but that's from what I've read. Real evo/sti nuts are into these cars for their raw performance. not their looks, and both cars lost some of that rawness to appeal to a larger crowd of people who are into looks, smooth power, and comfort.. although the new wrx/sti sure looks like it got much uglier, and lost alot of its raw performance. the new evo's killer front end doesnt make up for its horrid rear design, massive center of gravity, and underdone fenders. sti is ugly from all angles, at least the evo has a couple good ones
