back in the trucking days of my life i used to haul freight out of Miami International airport, this MD-80/ DC-6 would pull right up to the truck and unload on the tarmac and then a huge forklift would raise it to the door height, and push it in, the crew cheif would use a pallet jack and put the pallet in , the shop would always have 4 complete rebuilt engines all ready to go when the time was up for the ones in use ( they have max hours to watch before rebuilds ) This is a very nice video
Wonderful video. The background music reminded me of the ending of a great Pixar movie. Really enjoyed every moment watching this because I plan to become a pilot over the next few years.
I flew with Sajjad Lodhi back when he was a co-pilot. We flew Trans Air Link's DC-6s and sole DC-7C. He was promoted to captain in the late 1980s. Then, in about 1991, he went with the DC-7C to Africa and flew for its new owner, reportedly flying arms to Mozambique. When that war ended, the plane was parked in Kinshasa, Congo, where it became a derelict. I flew for many other outfits in Miami and FLL: DC-6s, -7s, and Super Connies. Great music; very nostalgic.
@Propliner1955 I forgot to mention that most of my time was as flight engineer, and lesser time as co-pilot. Trans-Air-Link, Rich Int'l, Seagreen Air Transport, Boy Brothers, Air Cargo Support, Universal (in Detroit). Yes, I'll be loving those days, "always, always."
Cool video ~ Thanks for posting; such a workhorse, the DC-6. So familiar, as I fly out of KOPF, KHWO, KFLL, KFXE, KPMP, and KBCT often, and the majority of my flights are in Corrosion Corner!

Such good memories as a boy flying with my father on occasions in a DC-4 and
DC-6. He was a captain for Air America based out of Tachikawa, Japan.

Nice footage, very real! Good crew too. I flew with Captain Sajad Lohigh (sp) in the 80s. Very nice!

Thanks for posting. The takeoff in time 0:38 through 0:51 is on runway 4 at Chicago Midway Airport. Recognize hangars that are no longer there!

Totally awesome. There were many 6's at KYIP back in the late 80's and early 90's when I lived in a hangar there. Good times. Really good times.
