whose your hero? I respect that he is demeaning, but he and sam had such depth in Life on Mars. He was respectable as well as being condemned as racist, or facist. Ashes has been centred wholly around Alex, however in Life on Mars, Gene Hunt was as predominant a character as Sam was. Gene Hunt's character has not developed. I DID enjoy Ashes, dont get me wrong, but i havent found it quite as compelling as LOM. The possible relationship between Alex and Gene has been too larger a factor, for me.

i figured a flaw in the story alex asks gene about sam and he says he spent 7 year working with him ...that means he spent 7 years in a coma but he went back to 1973 in 2006 i think and now it 2008 so how could he have spent 7 years working when he was being monterd in the hospital for 2........maybe i have this wrong?

I don't know why everyone has such a go at Keeley Hawes though, I really don't think she's unlikeable- I think she's brilliant.
