I interpret weekend wars as just the struggle to plan a good weekend. There is a certain social chaos on weekends. You want to see all of your friends, you have to make many decisions on how to spend your time. Weekends are supposed to be enjoyable, and yet sometimes they can get bogged down just deciding how to spend your most precious time.

The singer would rather a simple life on an island rather than having to love or think too much planning out the weekend wars.
