  • I'm a member of Haughton's band and I got to see fountrainebleau for the first as(I'm a freshmen) and I got to see their cyborg show and it was amazing, and this is just as amazing, I wish I couldve been here live cause this seemed incredible to see<3 With much love from haughton:) Congrats on your 2nd place last year and this year:) Us from haughton look up to yall and hope to be just as great as yall one day<3

  • I know that this is SUPER late, but CONGRATS on 2nd Place!!!!!!!! FHS is one of the bands that I always look forward to seeing at Showcase. You guys are great. Can't wait to see ya'll this year!!!!

  • The drills were nice

however, the drumline needs to watch their intervals at 1:35 and 2:20

  • can someone say bluecoats?

  • Yall are better than this. yall could do something alot more complicated with musical integrity.

  • CARENCRO WILL HAVE THEIR DAY LOL...WE COMING

  • i can watch this all freaking day.

    --- from evil tibadoux

south terrebonne sucks compared to yall.

  • @frenchadrian Being that I am from South Terrebonne, I find your comment very offensive. And some opinions should be kept to yourself. That said, there are plenty of schools who are not up to par when compared to Fontainbleau. That doesn't mean you should single out them.

  • Im sorry Im not going to try to purposly disrespect this band in any way FHS did an amazing job and deserved what they got heck I didnt have bad feelings toward them until they treated us bad And no its not the band its the colorguard I was in one of the other bands that made top ten and we Were walking around and congradulating the other bands who made it When we got to FHS

  • we saw the colorguard first and said Congratz and smiled happy for them and only one girl smiled and said thanks the rest blew us off and some of them gave us a look like oh were so much better then you and we know it Now other then that I think the band was great Even though we never got to say congratz to them I wish we wouldve But dont disrespect us if you want to be respected We all worked as hard as yall Were all equals in this competition

  • @LoveToWrite2038 I am SO SO SO SO SO SO SOOOOO SORRRYYY!!!!! I would really love to apologize I had no idea! I didn't actually pay attention to hear congrats because we were well at least I was but I'm pretty everybody was out of breath. ANd plus we were in a rush to roll flags up! I'm really sorry and I would like to apologize. Pleezzz forgive us. I will make sure tell the band tthat wel I dont know what school your from but I'll tell them you loved us. I am pretty sure yalls band was amazing

  • @Torublossom95 Thank you so much and I understand completly, and im from south lafourche, i just didnt want to put my school just incase people would take my comment the wrong way and start to say bad things about us. Thank you for the apoligy, and yes we did love your show :)

  • Fontainebleau, Y'ALL DID SIMPLY AMAZING! Congrats at 2nd place :)

    -St. Amant mellophone player

  • It's almost unfair how AMAZING Fontainebleau's band is. This is seriously DCI quality and such an amazing performance to watch and enjoy. I personally LOVED the jazz band and it was enjoyable to hear and watch wheather they were marching or not. And did anyone notice the quad player and the drum major kiss the colorguard members? I saw it at lmea, and was like "they are totally trying for dci" because this year at least half of the dci shows had band members kiss the colorguard.

  • My comment came across the wrong way, I think. I didn't mean to put down any other bands. In truth, all bands are amazing because they have dedicated kids in them who work for one goal and for what they believe in.

Sorry, it seems I got the scoring wrong I couldnt hear very well on the field with the noise from the people around me, so that is my mistake.

    And @26hitgirl

I never said we did better. I honestly think our second performance was total crap and I was shocked we did score that well.

  • Well, this is a comments section, and I just felt the need to make comments. You didn't have to respond to my opinion. Just ignore it if it bothers you. But I do stand by what I said, and I've said these things in front of my band director, so...yeahhh.

  • I apologize this is what I mean to say...LHS and FHS are the Top 2 bands in the state they don't bad mouth other bands and they respect eachother and other bands. These 2 bands have worked their butts off to get where they are today. And please don't get defensive all bands work really hard too I'm sure they do. SO if you are from any other band any band don't say this wasn't your favorite or I didn't really like just say "Hey you guys did well." that's all. Just to put that out there :D sorry

  • @26hitgirl they did do really well :D. Not tryin to be mean. My fave part of the whole competition was at the very end when all the finalist bands were lining up to go on the field for final awards and we started high-fiving all the people that passed us. It really made me feel like everyone was supportive of each other. The people of other bands are great friends to have. Its just awesome to be able to talk to other and members abt their experiences in band :)

  • @CaughtInTheMoment163 Yea me too. haha its my fav too

  • To all HS kids (and even older fans) posting on here. It would be best if you watch what you say, especially if you are identifying as being a part of a particular program. Everyone is entitled to his/her own opinion, but please make sure your comments are tasteful and not classless. If you wouldn't say it in front of your own band director, don't say it at all. What you do on the field is not the only way you represent your band program.

  • @nolatiger4 Thanks, nolatiger4. That needed to be said. Everyone has opinions, and opinions vary, but we are all entitled to them. Please keep it civil and respectful.

  • I'm not judge, but I was a spectator, and I do have a strong opinion. Fontainebleau's shows have gotten weaker and weaker since they killed in '08 with "Warp". After seeing the second performance, I can honestly say I don't know what the judges were thinking scoring them above St. Amant. They had a gorgeous, emotionally driven, beautiful show. I understand how hard all kids from these bands work, as I'm a VERY dedicated band member myself, but I also believe in honesty.

  • Fontainebleau is the best band ever. They rocked this show.

Person from St. Amaunt u suck! Ur just jealous. FHS band is way better than y'all.

Let's just say that our band doesent wanna make people go to sleep in the stands. I saw ur show. "zzZzzzzz"

Y'all dident even deserve 3rd. Maybe the judges just felt sorry for y'all. Yeahp so just go way. Thanks.

We beat y'all. Get over it.

  • @southernbell321 okay. Bad talking other bands is giving your band a bad rep. Yeah, im on the guard from St. Amant. I admit Fontainebleau was pretty good this year, but they weren't my favorite. I'm not jealous, and i think we placed where we deserved. Lafayette deserved first, placing 7th in the nation only a weekend before. I loved our show and if you dont like it, then keep your opinion to yourself. in the end, the only opinion that matters is the judges'.

  • @CaughtInTheMoment163 I o-gree

  • They deserved first place.

    But you know Lafayette!

    Congratulations on y'all scorings.

  • @STApercussionkid

    Kid...

    This is the internet...

    So calm down.

Plus I'm not in Fontainbleau, I'm in H.L. Bourgeois.

And if you know what we(H.L.) got in scores, then you would know how not a rude sore loser I am.

But thanks for thinking I was in a kickass band!

    Much appreciated!

  • @STApercussionkid Hey percussion kid if you don't want to say anything nice don't say anything at all. It's just going to give your band a bad rep. if you say your band did better than us then your really low dude. OK, first of all, all bands work their butts off! Especially FHS and everybody elses but dont you think that maybe FHS says that they deserved first because lafayette gets first every year no matter what kind of show they put on? Think about it. I mean jeez!!

  • Comment removed

  • @STApercussionkid

STA was 2.88 behind Fontainebleau (who was 3.4 behind Lafayette).

Final scores can be found on the Louisiana Showcase page of the ULL band website.

  • @nolatiger4 But then again FHS went up 8 points from our first performance, and Lafayette only went up 2....

  • So here is some advice, if you can't say anything nice don't say anything at all, for all those whose parents DID NOT teach them manners

  • Geez.why are people soo effing critical? If they can't say "Great Show! You guys did great!" then don't say anything at all. The show is over, there isn't anything you can do about it now. And btw we have a band director to point out all of the mistakes we might have made, we don't need you idiots to do it for us. Also if you people are soo intelligent then why oh why aren't you a judge for this particular competition?

  • They did put on a nice show, but I don't think the percussion should have gotten a 1. I noticed a big mistake at the beginning of the prelim performance, and maring issues throughout the entire show. I congrat you all on the Reserve Champ trophy. I still am not fond of the judging system.

  • Fountainbleau should've made 1st

  • It's a compliment the jazz band sounded recorded. As far as them not marching, it was up to the judges to determine if there should be deductions for that. But this show was not about pleasing the judges, it was about doing something the kids would enjoy, and hoping the crowd would be on their feet in the end. The jazz band simply set the mood for an awesome marching band and color guard to shine!

  • @bnkbrown

Didn't the speaker system go out and they were still playing!?

  • @oakfighter15 The PA system cut out toward the end of the second movement. (When almost the whole band and the color guard are dancing.) The tripped breaker was reset near the beginning of the third movement. In the video, you can hear a sharp volume drop in the Sax solo when it cuts out (but you can still hear the sax).

  • @FishManLA

I know. It's cause y'all are soo awesome!

  • Did I miss something? What happened with percussion judge?

  • @bnkbrown There was a man in a grey shirt walking around the field for both their first and second performances. He seemed to be primarily looking at the drum line. Wasn't he the percussion judge?

  • @FishManLA

    No.

The percussion judge was in the stands this year.

The guy that was on the field was a field judge. He was only there to give comment, his score didn't count.

    Hope I helped.

  • @oakfighter15 Thanks.

  • What do u mean they r going to the midwest? btw who is ur bf's brother?

  • @needlesman22 The Jazz Ensemble has been invited to perform at the Midwest Music Clinic in Chicago this December. (I tried to put a link in this response, I guess Youtube doesn't allow that...

  • The only reason that the jazz band sounds sooo incredibly good is that they arent marching...no offense but anybody can sound great standing still. I'm not criticizing the show was awesome its just i dont understand why everybody is amazed by the stagnant jazz band. BTW i go to NHS...curiously was there a percussion judge on field for FHS?

  • @needlesman22 They weren't *totally* stagnant. For the long Sax solo in the second movement, the Sax player is strolling back and forth on the platform behind the Jazz band (wireless mike clipped to the Sax). Of course, that's "strolling" not "marching"... ;)

  • @needlesman22 that and they're an incredible jazz band. yes they were still for the most part. i heard about what the percussion judge wrote for your sheet. its pretty unfortunate. i didnt get to see NHS this year but my boyfriend went there and his brother is in the band now. i was rooting for you guys and Fontainebleau the whole day :)

  • @needlesman22

also because they're an incredible jazz band. they may have stood still most of the time but you cant really march a jazz band like that. the only reason they did that show was because they're going to midwest this year. about the percussion judge, i heard about what happened to you guys and i'm sorry. my boyfriend went to school there and his brother is there now. i cheered for you guys the whole season :)

  • our sets actually looked the way they were supposed to this time! awesome show great time this year

  • The jazz band was most certainly NOT recorded! Compare the first and second performances and you'll see that the jazz solos were, to an extent, improvised and varied with each performance (as good jazz solos always do). As FHSClarinetGrl09 points out, there's a reason their invitation to Midwest. This was a big part of the reason the marching show was jazz themed this year.

  • Also, if you listen carefully, you'll hear that toward the end of the second movement (the long sax solo that the whole band dances to) the amplification cuts out. (Generator was overloaded.) What you hear for the last several bars of the second movement is the (LIVE) sax solo UNAMPLIFIED. (The guitar and bass amp were on a separate generator from the PA that was amplifying the sax.) The generator was reset early in the third movement, restoring the amplification of the Jazz ensembles winds.

  • i am a proud alumni of this group. they make me so proud.

and choji98 they arent recorded. they're going to midwest this year for a reason.

  • i really like this show...but i think the jazz band sounded recorded

  • Honestly, you guys deserved first.

  • This is from a guy in the CHS band. Great job, one of my favorite shows that night. But how did you guys change your shirt colors in the middle of the show?

  • @Frankthetankvenable their vest were flip able.

  • @drewrummeldrummer Ah okay, thanks.

  • This totally should have taken first place. You guys will forever be my favorite HS marching band. :)

  • lolz that was worth all he hard work XDD IT ACTUALLY LOOKED LIKE A GUN!!!

  • Very good job guys. I liked your concept.

  • Best show ever! It was incredibly fun to march and play. Second place!!! :D

  • i wish our generator didn't go out in the second movement but still was amazing to march
