So let's see here...13 years of school, 4 years of college, 4 years of medical school, 6 (ish) years of residency...by golly I can be a surgeon by the time I'm like 32 if I'm lucky! Haha no way I'm doing that. Good luck to all of you doctors out there.
and if you think that $250'000-$360'000 a year isn't rich, you must be awesome, additionally, doesn't everyone go after careers for money? I wouldn't be going to university if I had money shoved at me for no reason.
Pretty concise, but a decent breakdown of medical school, residency, fellowship and other steps involved to becoming a practitioner. The key is definitely the fellowship piece, which really narrows and defines your clinical training. There is a great tool on the American Medical Association website called "Frieda Online - Residency Fellowship Training Program Search" which gives contact info for virtually all the training programs in different specialtites.

Are you a doctor trying to find a few moments to relax. My wife is trying to find a few leads on a residency program. I am willing to donate money to a program; 40K for 2 years; to cover her Y1 and Y2 expenses. California preferred; radiology or pathology a plus.
Here is how Medical School should be. After students graduate they will work directly for the Government. No more balogny. Setting them free causes corruption. Their also charging too much causing damage to the economy. Graduates will be located to a Government Hospital. They will be paid by the Government.
Sorry buddy, but a surgeon who goes to school for 8 years, and doesn't finish his/her residency for another 8 years (16 years of school), deserves to make 6 or 7 figures a year. I agree in some aspect, that medical equipment is seriously inflated, as are the pharmaceutical companies products, but lets be real with one another....Actors make millions of dollars per film, athletes make millions per game, politicians make more than doctors most of the time....
Try and get a device that runs flash correctly, maybe a computer that isn't 15 years old...because I'm looking at my prior response, and reading it just fine.

Being a physician is the only job in America which has required more work for less pay every single year since the 1980s. Does that make sense? At least it has great job security.
@ALI1981USA doctors and surgeons in particular will pay their debts in less then 1 year of working after they finish their residency, and finish school. They are the highest paying jobs in the north america. the average pay for a general family doctor is $205,000 while the average surgeon is paid $354,000 right out of residency and after 5 years you can be paid up too the $500,000 mark. this information is from a friend he owns a $90,000 lamborghni galardo which he bought when he was 32
bulshit! come to London and decome a doctor in 5 years undergraduate med or 4 years post grad. Im a student now, aged 19 year 2 of medschool. next year ill be specilizing in my area and my final 2 years in clinical practice in ur flied. YOU BECOME A DOCTOR IN 5 YEARS ONLY!
Medical school usually starts at age 21-22 formost American students if you go straight through school. there are some 6 yr programs: 2 yrs college and 4 of med school combined. but there is so much more to college that I would not skip out on it.
@samOFblorx That's the reason I decided not to become a Doctor. If you don't think you will absolutely love your job no matter how much money you make It's not worth 14 years of life.
i went to medical school when i was 21. the average age was 25, and i had classmates who were in their 30s and 40s. so long as you are willing to work hard, you can do it!
???? 10 years of military + 10 years of school = 20 years, if you start at 18 you will be 38 at best, i hope you have an infinite amount of determination
No, you pay...a S*** load. average medical student debt in the United states is $135,000 on graduation from medical school. You do get paid for residency training after medical school, but it is not really enough to make payments on loans so most residents deffer repayments until residency training is complete
Good grades? Ha! Not Even! My dad, no offense to him, but he was a complete dumbass, and I MEAN dumbass! And yet he was able to finish his residency, unfortunately he didn't pass his English exams when trying to pass his license over the U.S.
i got a question im only in grade 9 now in canada and im tired of learnin shakesspeare and getting marked on plays which is al a wate of time if i want to become a doctor atleast a pedeatric would i just need math and science?answer plz
what natnaelhaile said was wrong. Im sorry they mislead you. I'm going to UCLA right now and Im planning on going to medical school so I know a lot about this subject. Being a pediatrician has the same prerequisites as being a surgeon BEFORE medical school. You need 2 yrs bio (micro, macro, & biochem), 2 yrs chem (general-chem & organic-chem), calculus I & II, 1 general/calculus physics, and all your general education requirements. It's a long road but respect you earn is well worth it.
i know High school dosent matter that much but how well should we be doing in it? Im getting a 3.6 gpa and in 2 honers ap classes. probably wont cut it :(
What the hell are you talking about? High school doesn't matter as long as you go to a 4-year University and get a degree. (doesn't have to be science related as video stated.
If high school doesnt matter how do you expect to get into the 4 year university dumbass? If you mess up in high school the only way to get into a 4 year uni is through community college and not everyone wants to suffer community college....
Correct... However it takes away two years of the university experience. Those first two years are where all the actual fun is.... Underage drinking and partys.... If you want to pledge its best to do it early in these two years. By the time somone is out of the two years of community college they still may have years of college left but the rest of the university community is already bored with it.... A community college transfer would have the same excitement as say... well... a freshamn...
suffer community college?? I attended it for my first 2 yrs of college because I had no money.. I earned a 4.0 GPA w/ ease.. It was kind of boring but I would hardly equate it to suffering.... Now I am at UCD and still earn a 4.0 but put out a lot more work for the same GPA. Med school is one route i have considered and thus i am taking a lot of science despite my major being economics. My advice is earn a high GPA that way you have options even if you opt out of med school.
When it comes to education, there is not cutting corner. It's easy to see one has good gens to be an athlete but when it's come to brain stuff it's harder to determine, the who can hang onto their study will make it.
and not a dime goes into your bank account in the meantime..

i went to medical school when i was 21. the average age was 25, and i had classmates who were in their 30s and 40s. so long as you are willing to work hard, you can do it!

after 4yrs of colege when you enter the medical thing do you get payed?
Ayohima 2 years ago
No, you pay...a S*** load. average medical student debt in the United states is $135,000 on graduation from medical school. You do get paid for residency training after medical school, but it is not really enough to make payments on loans so most residents deffer repayments until residency training is complete

Seems like a never-ending process. So surgeons basically go for about 14 years before they can practice if i'm not mistaken.

4 years college, + 4 years med school + 5 year residency + 3 year fellowship = 16 years after high school

and a bullload of debt. dont forget that.

I wish I could forget, but uncle sam won't let me :)

Good grades? Ha! Not Even! My dad, no offense to him, but he was a complete dumbass, and I MEAN dumbass! And yet he was able to finish his residency, unfortunately he didn't pass his English exams when trying to pass his license over the U.S.

what natnaelhaile said was wrong.

Im getting a 3.6 gpa and in 2 honers ap classes. probably wont cut it :(
7FluxProductions 3 years ago
What the hell are you talking about? High school doesn't matter as long as you go to a 4-year University and get a degree. (doesn't have to be science related as video stated.
beaner4life 3 years ago
If high school doesnt matter how do you expect to get into the 4 year university dumbass? If you mess up in high school the only way to get into a 4 year uni is through community college and not everyone wants to suffer community college....
FutureEntrepreneur1 3 years ago
Suffer? I'd say its a good low-cost alternative. It's only a general education anyway, so most of it you won't be using in your future career.
beaner4life 3 years ago 2
FutureEntrepreneur1 3 years ago
Oh and by the way sorry for calling you a dumbass... That was totally out of line and it had no class... Forgive me for that.
FutureEntrepreneur1 3 years ago
suffer community college??
