  • look at the size of his arms!damn.

  • @garfrain As it happens, I sound completely different to this guy, probably since I don't even live on the same continent.

However, I do have a distinctive accent and dialect that I am not 100% happy with, so maybe I am just sympathising with the guy. Though I really think you are just being a prick for the sake of it.

  • @zenqimaster there's something i agree with, do you know how many pricks try to throw their weight around on you tube? i consider you a moral crusader, keep it up. unless you can think of something better to do with your time than telling people they're being pricks on you tube when they already know they're being pricks.

  • Hey i am very thankful to have a guy like him! I dont even know what is barbell shrugs is.... Thank you bruhh

  • so weak!! best thing i lifted is a rock and this is not the half of it

  • 0:20 haha

  • @Pilmer1993 fair enough he's doing a lot of people a service, although it is largely irrelevant you can't defend the fact he sounds thick as shit

  • @garfrain He doesn't sound thick as shit to me. He sounds very clear and seems to know what he's talking about. Not much fumbling with words and stay calm throughout.

I don't know what it is that makes you think he sounds thick, but I'm not hearing it.

  • Good form, good instructions. I do shrugs with 100kg on each side and I weigh 81kg myself. But I rather see a guy doin almost no weight with good form like this guy, than people showing shrugs with heavy weights and lousy form. Seen intructions from instructional fitness. Normally good instruction but on shrugs they show poor form using biceps too much.

  • I do this training with 50 kg's on each side :)

  • @864presentsMTM Whatever.. Im in the gym enough to know nearly everyone on youtube is on steroids.

  • He looks like Carlton from Fresh Prince... :)

  • Either its his tang top or me but his shoulders are small compared to his arms they look freakish

  • I have to disagree with him. If you wanna build strong, big traps, you need to not only lift heavy but do more than 6-8 reps per set. In my experience, isolation movements require more reps. The traps can handle a high rep range even when lifting heavy and the recovery is quick too --- even with shorter rest periods. Doing a drop set on the last set is also killer.

  • @Noc4ball Yeh heavy as hell thats what u need theyre a really strong muscle and yet u see people lifting 25kg dumbells with shrugs it just isnt gonna do much.

  • @Pilmer1993 Exactly. Anyways, he is just using simple terms because he does not need to use an elaborated vocabulary to describe an exercice. Point is to understand the movement and to to it correctly. Does not mean this guy is stupid.

  • @GrosPainChaud forsure bro

  • so what would be considered "heavy" weight to do this workout with??

  • he needs to work his shoulders more and biceps less i rkn

  • The only trainers I respect is the ones who actually workout themselves, clearly this guy is talking from first hand experience, unlike some other "experts" at this "village" place.

  • He talks like Mitch Hedberg

  • what size bar is that??

  • 0:00

  • i tink his bicept is larger den his tricept

  • @Pilmer1993 thank god that not everyone one on youtube is drama queen. i think people get confused when they hear a person speaking calmly. dont get how they can mock someone who has uploaded quite a few videos teaching people.

  • @Pilmer1993 well said.

  • really? hmm, why is this perticular exercise only 6-8 reps for building mass? just wondering.

love these videos btw, you have em for almost every exercise and very simple, good explanations! thanks so much, helps me a lot

  • and that's how you do the...barbell...front...traps

  • Very consice and clear mate! You little dweebs who try to make fun of this guy are funny cause this guy would probably drop you cold by backhanding you!

    Tools

Good form on shrugs. Also worth note dont try to just lift them up as high as possible try to lead from your traps contracted up or behind the neck this will help to avoid straining the neck and other neck injuries associated with trap lifts

  • i love this guy... good and clear.. ty

  • this guy mus be weak he looks strong but really just plain weak he should use at least 20 on each side.

  • @drakespeed123 hes just demonstrating

  • @drakespeed123 a guy of this size could easily shrug a 100kg if u knew anything about bodybuilding

  • Slow Carlton's at it again.

  • what the heck man, your arms are huge, why the small weights?

  • @choconog hes showing proper technique fool, not showing off.

  • @choconog yeah just like ripperlade616 said

  • Sort of a weird problem but I find I sorta scoop up my balls when I do shrugs with a barbell. Any idea what im doing wrong?

  • @ThePowerhouse117 get bigger hamstrings so you dont rattle your junk.

  • wtf i hate youtube adds what is this its the internet not t.v. damn

  • "smooth machine" ???? smith***correction

    helpful guide though! :D

  • LOL! why dose he have subtitles?! haha

  • @ninja1er In case someone is deaf I guess lol

  • @ninja1er you can take it off by clicking the little arrow on the right corner of your screen

  • thank you!

    James

  • Is this also known as Barbell shrug?

Looks simple enough after seeing it demonstrated.

  • This is one of my favorite exercises to do.

  • how many times a week should you do them?

  • Depends how the muscle feels - many other exercises involve the trapezius. Usually I give a muscle group two good workouts per week but it all depends on what other training you do, rest, nutrition etc.

  • 100 times a week

  • That's how you do the barbell front "traps".

    Should be "shrugs" :P

    Nice video :)

  • he slows down at the end as he realises he's forgotten the word too, lol =P
