I think its great that you have this going on. One question though.. I saw at least two people with their palms open at the top of their snatches. Why are they doing that? It looks like it could be bad for the wrists and doing it that way doesn't help as much with grip strength.
It doesnt matter wether hands are fists or open. The kettlebell needs to rest on the hip of the grip of your hand diagonally. Therefore it does not rest at all on the wrist and doesnt strain it. If you dont, snatching will always have a chance of fucking up your wrists because of improper technique.
ha yeah abit of empty comment from myself there sorry...let me clarify....OBJECTIVE training with reps/sets/timing with a leader/intructor based external motivation with no real functionality (if you really think about it) should die out. SUBJECTIVE excerise based on free movement with multiplanal flow, core dynamics, rhythmical training with a complete symbiosis of the whole neuromuscular system, should come to the forefront...ie capoeira, prasara yoga, parkour, mma itself etc
Exactly! This is old-school...before the supplement industry dictated what "fitness" is and only performance mattered.
There will always only be a chosen few dedicated enough to push themselves to the limit.
Oh, and yes, academia-speak is familiar to most of us, including Coach Maxwell...most of use have just chosen to forget all the big words in favor of real training.
this is just logical training for logical folks...i prefer stuff with abit more of a balanced approach. as for big words i know you know them, and as for real training, you cant deny the results but i think its not challenging you guys to use your body and mind creatively...dont mean to sound like an enemy here just think confrontation is needed occasionaly to test the water. peace, cheers.
Nah man, I'm not taking you as an enemy at all. I completely agree that having an instructor can definitely inhibit creativity. I work out by myself at home or in my yard. It's fun, I come up with new things to do all the time. I just think it's great to see a group of people dedicated to probably the best workout that I have ever found.
But, if someone needs a workshop, I say whatever. As for my last comment, I was trying to be funny.
this is my kind of workout

It looks like Janie de Jonge?
I hope not, that would be weird.

Hmm, does anybody know this Janie? Is she by any chance from South Africa? She looks pretty fit. Are they mma fighters?
She looks very familiar to me. Good metabolic pairing.

Thanks man, I appreciate the response. I was just curious because I've never seen people do them that way, so thanks for the explanation!

Have you read Steve's blog? Watched his other videos, read his bio, etc?
He is quite a bit more rounded than he seems from this one clip.
