Religion was permitted under 'communist' regimes. There was supposedly freedom of religion. In practice the orthodox church was stripped bare. Criticism of Jews was subject to the death penalty. There were no detah camps - concentration camps were for criminals and people like Bolsheviks; the Gemrans were entirely right to imprison them as they were mass murderers. As for 'not practising', the Jewiosh mindset remained with them through life.

Trickle down economics etc.. all but destroyed the USA, the Dems are trying to fix things, but the right wing have done all they can to put a monkey wrench int he works. Because if they let the dems do what they wanted and the USA did really well, that would make the reps look bad.
Republicans and the Right wing want to take rights away.

@Mglosk, you make me laugh. What do you know about destruction?
My family left the Soviet Union in 1977. Until then, none of us had ever been abroad. The first stop was Vienna, Austria, where we stayed for 7 days. Walking the streets, we were shocked and overwhelmed by the availability, variety and quality of all consumer goods we saw. My father was literally in tears, "My God, look at all this! And all is made for the people! Not for the military, not for war, just for people!"

From this alone you can get some inkling of what life was like in the Soviet Union. Nevertheless, my parents didn't call it destruction. Because they had lived through WWII, and they knew what real destruction was.
And you... You are a living monument to how ideology can make one see what is not there and drive one completely insane.

@Mglosk, let me give you an example of destruction that is closer to home.
There is a place in New York where until September 2001 two huge towers stood. And now there is nothing there. 3,000 people were killed in that place on that day.

@Kurtlane Don't even try and tell me about that. I saw it with my own eyes, I lived through it directly. It was mostly all caused by us having troops in Muslim Holy Land, that and religious extremist. Sorry, I don't know where you're going with this, but it was due to Right and Left wing politicians not doing the right thing and getting our troops out of all foreign lands.

Right, let's just withdraw from everywhere, surrender Iraq and Afghanistan to al-Qaeda, let them kill those they haven't yet killed, lock ourselves inside and wait till Iran or another monstrocity developes nukes and hits us with them.

@Kurtlane Who's blaming America on Muslims killing Muslims? Muslims are killing Jews due to religious extremism. While I would have said because of Israels existence, I believe that even if Israel didn't exist Muslims would still try and kill Jews. But this is due to religion.
