I think that they are very Inquisitive by nature. They love to explore and check out thing with there beak. I have one that is about a little over a year now, Hand reared by myself. He is very bonded with me but, as soon as you put a finger right in front of him he grabs and bites. I also have a green one that's about 8 weeks. Doing exactly what Buddy is doing. I named mine Gomez.
I had a lovebird for 7 years. He was named Buddy too! Try giving your arm a bit of a shake when he bites. They don't like that. Also make sure to leave them alone when they are eating or playing with something. Sometimes they just bite for random reasons though, I don't think they really know what they're doing.
