It would have been a more funny ending if he'd kept going until she was 3 inches high, and then after taking a sip of..., whatever, she makes that end statement in an eency weency voice, as he laughs and spits what he's drinking, like a "Three's Company," sitcom.
I remember when this first aired. For the next few months at school we were parroting that last line every time someone accidentally bumped into another person in the halls (we were 11). For that it ranks as one of my favorite old commercials, along with the "Help, I've fallen and I can't get up" lady and the Sally Struthers starving Ethriopian commercials.
I never forgot this commercial for some reason... I'm so glad someone posted it, I say that quote all the time lol.. it's not funny... but I still do lol.
@britrob24 Same here -- I actually looked it up because I couldn't manage to describe it without sounding like I'd been on drugs thanks to the way she shrinks (besides, it's hard to convey in words just how sleazy that dude comes across)!
I remember when this came out. While I appreciate the message and all, the acting was a huge joke to everyone I knew. The main line that's sexual harassment and I don't have to take it sounds like it was read straight from a queue card. Priceless moments lol
I totally remember this commercial. I had to be like 7 years old. They must have ran it for many years if I remember seeing it. I found this by googling this sentence: "It's sexual harassment and I don't have to take it." That sentence still sticks in my head, but if I make jokes off it I'm afraid people won't get it!
DITTO! This is my memory of tv in the late 80's/early 90's... i say this line alllll the time and people totally still laugh at it. i miss those days...
I remember seeing this on ABC on Friday nights as a kid. Love the ridiculous "uppity bitch" look on the sleezeball's face at the end - so typical of people that have little respect for women.
My boss told me I'm not using all my assets. When I asked him what he meant, he said that I'm just not really asserting myself to my job mainly because like anyone else I'm already thinking about how I want to spend the rest of my day and I'm understandably more concerned about real life rather than my work life. I told him I understand where he was coming from, and that I apologize for being that way, but I do appreciate my job and company. He thanked me for my time, and parted ways.
Yes, only us straight women appreciate unwanted come-ons from sleezeballs, especially when said sleezeball can easily retaliate against us if we rebuff their advances. Screw respect, bring on the catcalls!
They played this video all the time growing up. This video is THE REASON I have a negative connotation with the word "assets". I think b/c it is the first time I heard the word and this guy is creepy.
"You're not using all your assets". What assets was he referring to? I don't think she is uppity, just assertive. I'm sure if he continues this behavior, she would contact Human Resources. She should record the inappropriate comments he makes regarding her appearance, if the law will allow it. She should remind him that being sexy is not part of the job description, and even threaten to call HR about it.
the actress can be sued if she performs this sexual harassment at work or other women doing it to men cause it does apllie to women and not only men good luck ladys
This commercial made me laugh as a kid - not because I thought the message wasn't serious - but because she seemed to react so coldly and calculatedly to his totally sleazy behavior. "I don't have to take it." Any truly liberated woman would have kicked that slimeball in the jimmy.
I now feel violated. this commercial made me feel very harrassed. i may start my own PSA. it's titled: "Sexual Harrassment - the world of youtube on the workplace"
This public service announcement really is a classic. It shows how those types of (or any types for that matter) comments can be so degrading and dehumanizing to the individual. What a groundbreaking commercial and thanks for including it here!
A word of advice here for people. A PSA if you will.... NEVER file a sexual harassment claim at your job. The human resources department at your job is only concerned about the company, not you. They will not protect you.
Your comment actually made me laugh out loud. You're NOT a loser if your respect womean, you're a loser if you let spoiled bitches walk all over you. BIG difference.
For all of you making fun of this unless you've been through it (I have) please don't turn it into something comical, it's not funny
