hm I can't remember anything from this film other than the fact that it has many different animation styles. But people I know always fall asleep to this in attempt to watch it when high, meanwhile I can't remember really paying attention to this movie through and through
this was just awful. disgusting art styles, lame story telling, and a forgettable soundtrack. poor villain choices (croc, deadshot and some Russian) poor choice in voice actors, kevin was too monotone, I hardly see this as "breathtaking". more like an eyesore that makes me want to rip my ears off clean and spoon out my eyes out of my sockets. ok maybe I'm not that extreme but still, I want me hour and 3 bucks back, I got bored half way and didn't care to finish it.
yeah doohde it was a complete rip off and punk way to make money. We were all punked with this without question. btw you bring up a good point; why not use the Joker. It musta been a mandate(?) You goin tell me ALL these various interpretations of Batman from foreign artists who finally get a chance to get a hold of these properties and NONE of them would touch the greatest villain to batman and arguably to all comics(??) thers NO way. Great piont, grreat review!
the batman begins costume shows up in the short called In Darkness Dwells. Thats it and why they didn't use that design for all the shorts I have no idea.
It wasn't intended as a tie-in in that sense. It has no plot tie in for a reason. It was an exploration DVD for Batman. In fact, the first story exemplifies this with various interpretations of Batman. It's a good set. You may know comics, but you don't know shit about marketing.
A bastardisation AND exploitation of a clever reimagining. Sick, really sick. What really annoyed me was how effeminate Bruce Wayne appeared without his costume. For Christ's sake, this is Bruce Wayne; he's musclebound from all his travels and training...and Caucasian! X(
I didnt like this movie at all it was so bad. Why would they make batman into an anime? I dont like the attitude that anime has in batman it should just stay away. I thought the characters sucked especially bruce wayne, they make him look like a stupid general anime character; skinny, medium length hair, calm attitude.Thats not bruce wayne. Im not an anime hater but I didnt like it for batman.
I have to disagree with Have I got a Story with you...the animation itself was superb. The stylistic choice was not. Unlike the episode in TAS Legends of the Dark Knight which was meant to be an excuse to show different eras as Batman, this one is meant to show Batman as a growing urban myth.
And to be fair, it only says from the producers of Batman Begins and The Dark Knight. It doesn't directly say, "Nolanverse."
Couldn't agree with you more about the "tie in" aspect. False advertisement.
Couldn't they have actually recreated the world in Nolan's universe, have fight realistic takes of certain villains... all the while, seeing a little bit of Joker throughout?
Instead, we get a couple of half hour or so shorts with very little in common, each little to do with one another.
Aside from that one short (which I will admit was pretty goofy) all your problems with this DVD seem to stem from it being falsely marketed as a DK tie-in. It really was a great DVD. You really shouldn't let bad marketing ruin the experience for you.
Well it's both. Because it connects to TDK very very poorly. And if it haden't tried to connect at all it could have been so much more intresting and better.
I thought it was funny because everyone I knew copped it as soon as it came out and after they watched it they were all like "What The Fuck?!?!". I didn't like the dvd as a stand alone, much less a tie in, but I have to respect the business savvy.
I totally agree. If they wanted to do this right, then they really should have done their little plots that actually connected both of Nolan's movies. For example:
1. Did a section that focused on maybe Scarecrow escaping andfocusing on him.
2. Maybe introduced The Joker a little bit.
3. Focus more on Bruce Wayne taking down the various Arkham inmmates for a period of time.

LOL "They must have been on crack or retarded." LOL so true
Although, I doubt they were being serious. They must have been lying to each other. None of them actually saw Batman (except the last one).

i have to agree with you they got deadshot all wrong.

A bit of a let down.

Field Test was good! Despite the costume, it was written well! :)
Walking through Pain was alright, just to see Bruce fail as a person early on.
All the rest I can do without.

the only reason they said it was a tie in was as a marketing tool.

I think gotham knight better serves as a batman Mythology.
Also GK.DEADSHOT >>> Comic DEADSHOT
His origin in this is awesome and I hope He's in the next batman movie, contracted to hunt down batman since he IS on the run...:)
Sickles197 3 years ago
I have to strongly dissagree wiht you. The comics Deadshot is so complex.
I'd like to see the comics Deadshot brought into the next film though. That's a good idea.
