You can´t just throw in alot of fuel if the engine if it doesn´t get the recuired air to burn it. So an N/A 2.5 liter inline 6 with over 600 hp at the wheels would be hard/impossible eaven if you had an F1 budget. So forcefeeding it is the "only" way to go. In this case a rather large turbo. And yes the engine and everything else was used and the engine block has all stock internals.

@DeadlyHaunt That's... Im-fucking-possible. It uses a Wankel Rotary engine just like the MANY rotary Mazda's before it. If "your FD" (which I doubt you had.) had a V6 in it, it was engine swapped impossibly. Why impossibly? The engine bay is too low to the ground to fit a V6 properly. It also is just too damn small of an engine bay in general to fit it. Also the transmission that was mated to the RX-7 was made specifically for the Wankel Rotary. Also... Know what. I could go on for days.

Though the other facts are true; the transmission and rear end werent mated to a lower-revving V6/V8, they were mated to a high-revving rotary (thus, needs two transmission changes), also, due to the V6/V8 that is SIGNIFICANTLY heavier than a rotary, there would need lots of harder suspension work; also, obvious tachometer needs replacing, and engine mounts, and the intake would need be modified for a V-engine and not a rotary. :)

And the rotaries actually does not rev that high. and you would like to be able to cruise at highway speeds without reving 7000rpm. So I doubt that the gearing is very different from other cars. I have swapped my enire driveline on my Ford Sierra Cosworth for BMW M3 and M5 parts, so an engine and gearbox swap is not that difficult. Probably harder to get that kit on :P

That's extremely odd as I'm restomodding a 66 'Stang fastback, and we're swapping out the stock engine with a 351 Windsor, and I'm basicly having to change EVERYTHING in the car. Gearbox, mounts, torque converter (yeah, unfortunately its auto. But it was cheap to buy xD). And actually rotaries still rev atleast 1000-2000 RPM on average higher than V6s and even 3000 more than V8s, that requires a massive gearbox and differential change. I am not disputing on that.

@cossiedrifter Now that I saw that video, swapping it wouldnt be IMPOSSIBLE, but it would be much more diffiult than just swapping an engine and transmission. It wont plug-and-play that easily, it would mean an ECU retune, and again; a lot of different things. Engine swaps only cleanly go in 1/1000 times anyone does it. You must've just gotten very lucky if you legitimately just swapped your engiens and trannies without a problem.

@elegeto Congratulations on owning one of my dreamcars :D All mounts are custom made on my car and the engine harness and ecu is replaced with a NIRA i3+ and a new 6kg lighter engine harness. But I still have the Cosworth engine in the car. Engine and tranny swaps are very common here in Sweden and we put turbos on everything! :P A couple of friends made a BMW engine and driveline swap in a Ford Sierra, put on a turbo and got 629Whp. Tranny swaps are pretty easy to do as long as they are compatible with the engine as ECUs dont read gears by their ratio, but solely on the RPM. Unless your car is manual (which it is), which means the ECU doesnt even know about your tranny at all. And turbos are pretty common in Canada too :D And nice build, will take a look at it!
