  • Thanks, Gibson, for supporting the indie film, MOUNT JOY, shot this summer in Lancaster PA - about a band trying to break out of town.

  • goddamn i wanna have this guitar.. i got addicted to gibson since i got my sg standard..

  • For me, this guitar fits like a glove! Soooo versatile and I love mine.

  • One of the best :)

  • It feels like a Les Paul? Oh, so it weighs a ton too??!!

    HAHAHA

  • @dangraphic

    i know a psyche.

  • 0:09 oh hey, this sounds like the son of a stadnard improv and the solo of The Unforgiven by Metallica. Let's make all fun of Metallica

  • This is one of the few newer models that I would even fool with...not as unwieldly large as a 335(which isn't all that bad), but still has good tone. Make mine in Antique red, with the '59 neck profile.

  • Would probably sound better in the hands of Guthrie Govan.

  • just listening to this baby makes the hairs on my neck satnd up

  • I wouldn't buy one again, the guitar itself is wonderful, but there is a laundry list of build defects in it, minor though they may be, a 2200 dollar guitar should not have them

  • @carswell98 like what?

  • @rupertacdc

very uneven finish, on the sides of the guitar there are spots with paint missing, and the paint at the neck joint cracked within a month, an keep in mind, not only do I not travel with this guitar, it stays in the same room, at all time with a constant temperature, on top of that, the finish around the bezel for the neck pickup has some pretty bad scoring, like someone accidentally scratched the top putting in the pickup, the inlay for the gibson logo is partially painted over...

  • @rupertacdc

...two of the pots were loose in the guitar when I got it, the neck binding has dozens of small cracks, the pick guard was so roughly cut I had to file off plastic shavings still attached, and one f hole is missing paint, I'll say it again, I like the guitar, I just can't support that level of build quality again, not when a $1000 Ibanez as-103 is better in every respect but the classic '57s

  • @carswell98 oh dear.. is this most people's experience? And are the classic '57s really nice then?

  • @rupertacdc

I don't think this is everyone's experience, if it was Gibson would be circling the drain, but the fact that my guitar made it though QC is troubling. I love the sound of the guitar, I wouldn't say the '57s are the best out there, but they are very well suited to this kind of guitar, and I have no desire to upgrade them.

  • @carswell98 Ok thanks for the info. Out of interest, if you had unlimited money and did want to upgrade them, what would you go for? I don't have a clue about pickups. Thanks.

  • @rupertacdc

if I ever swap them, and again, I don't see myself doing that, it would be for Fralin Unbuckers or Lollar Imperial Low winds, because I like low output pickups, but the 57 classics are also low output, so they're all brighter and clearer than most other humbuckers

  • @carswell98 Ok thanks again for the info much appreciated.

  • I cannot find the song 5:45 - 5:57, somebody knows? Thanks

  • Just a mini 335?

  • @StephenFiorentini exactly.

  • Thank you for the info on the hollow body Guitar all of you

    God Bless

    A Gibson Guitar Good Price

  • How come we can't see commercials like these on TV?

  • damn! now my only problem is that I don't know what color to choose from... amazing guitar... hopefully I buy it soon

  • so it's for girls?

  • Cost a lot of money

  • @TL250Rider under 2000 for a gibson hollowbody, a custom shop one at that? that is a deal.

  • @TL250Rider that's not true at all.. compared to a 335 it's actually cheaper

  • i prefer the look of the 335 and i dont like the wire jack where it is now i liked it on the top of the guitar

  • omg i think i have a hard dick now o_O

  • why is this one such "cheap"?

  • @AndiiTheStratophonic gibson gets to charge an extra 1000 for block inlays...

  • for the price i would expect better finishing touches......MOP/abalone inlays, gold gardware, full binding including f holes.........maybe a tremolo option too, Bigsby?

  • i don't know why did it take them so long to release a smaller 335? it is just ment to be a success!

  • Anybody ever heard of a Kramer Nightrider? I have one and it's basically Gibson's way of testing the idea for this one but in a way that they won't lose money. It's almost exactly the same, it even has Gibson USA pickups in it, but it has a Floyd Rose. lol I love my Kramer, but I'm not paying 3-5 Grand for this thing. lol

  • 3:33 probably not the best clip to put in.

  • I've had mine for about 9 months. It's a winner for me, though I did have to have the frets worked on right away. It's a wild and expressive instrument. Tone Pros bridge and locking tuners also recommended.

  • I've wanted one of these for a while, but i think Ill just get a Ibanez prestige or save a few years and get a les paul pro or even a gretsch hot rod 6120. Ive heard so many mixed reviews on these.Plus,it may look weird being smaller.

  • Beautiful guitar, great pickups, but every one I've seen is missing little touches that would justify the price. For example no binding on the F-holes. Too bad.

  • The comment from the moron who says he works for Jackson is enough to convince me never to even consider one. Anyone who doesn't think you can get huge tone out of a lighter guitar doesn't know his asshole from his elbow.

  • if only they weren't $2000

  • your shittin me. I don't like the Gibson humbucker tone. there are alot of other guitars out there for alot less that will give u alot more. that midtone just kills me i hate it. sounds so generic.

  • light weight.....smaller body......tons of bull shit its gotta be huge and heavy ass fuck or its not worth the investment...NUFF SAID!

  • You know...I heard a lot of different opinions about Gibsons and how they're over priced and shit etc etc. I recently bought a 79 ES 335 and I have to say that it's the best guitar I've ever played, hands down. Gibson all the way for me. That guitar has inspired me and created my tone.

  • yeah, gibsons are so well made, and they sound brighter and fuller than epiphones and they play better, so its worth the money. anyone who`s had a gibson and an epiphone knows.

  • @mg081 kool i have a kalimazoo gibson es 335 and ill tel you wat the sound is just profecianal

  • i just bought this guitar and it is amazing, so easy to play amazing warm tone. i highly recommend this guitar to anyone who wants a versatile guitar it can do everything you ask of it and is also very beautiful , the Vintage Red is the colour to buy

  • the only thing that bugs me is that gibson puts the same fucking pickups in their guitars regardless if its $800 or $4500.Almost every single guitar of theirs has either 57 classic or 490R 498T pickups. They all sound good but come on,for $4500 make some hand wound ones or at least some kind of Seymour Duncan antique deals.

  • Can someone explain to me the difference between the ES-339 and the Les Paul Standard, exlude pickups?

  • cool guitar, shitty demo

  • dude, i wish i knew the amp / pedals he is using!

  • now everybody empty your checking accounts and purchase this overpriced piece of wood...... what gibson really wants to say. American build quality in all products guitars included is not what it used to be in the golden age of the 50s. In todays time american build quality is at its worst.

  • Ya, but ig you're looking for a good semihollow, check out Yamaha's SA2200. I got me one of those and dude it kicks ASS. Ok, as you can see I'm still at the honeymoon stage ;))))) But seriously, it's a great guitar- pretty hard to find though and not a strong brand (but who cares:)

  • experts what gibsons are shit in every way

  • you obviously know fuck all

  • thats why i make guitars for a living and i work for jackson you stupid fuck head gibsons are crap and always have been realy bad quality instroments i should no iv owns 5 of them all diferant all now are in peaces or somthing fallen off like the head stock dont tell me i no fuck all

  • Jackson guitars suck ass

  • good job i play deans then isant it

  • Oh man,you work at jackson? And you've had 5 gibsons that the headstock fell off of?And youre dating megan fox?And you drive a ferrari made out of gold? And you have 78 inch penis? cool story bro!

  • I have a Gibson CS-356, which is the same size as this, and wouldn't get feedback from it if I tried. Honestly, I've tried.

  • ah, ok

  • well realistically it would get less feedback, because I have a feeling they just made the hollow cavities smaller with the same size solid block, making it a bit more like a LP then just a 335.

I think it would have been cooler just to make a semi-hollow Les Paul with F-Holes

  • Now don't get all butt-hurt, Gibson fans, but I don't really see the point of this guitar. It seems like he is playing it more like a Paul for the most part... and I think a 335 and a Les Paul both sound better than this guitar. eh I don't know.

  • GIBSON IS LIFE!! i own an ES-333 but that 339 looks hot

  • Oh man, I love this guitar.

  • Fuck...I just love Gibson guitars, and this is just wonderful!

  • That's a nice guitar. Looks much smaller than the es-335.

  • It is! I own a 339 and it feels much more comfortable if you're playing while sitting on a chair :)

  • it is! :)

  • @HGS9669 They told us it was smaller.

  • Comment removed

  • yea man! 339! fuckin badass!

  • Does rpiphone make one of these?

  • its the sheraton but its the size of a 335 and there is the casino 355 body size w/ p90s

  • That guitar is great, really versatile imvho :)

  • mephis tone circuit (3:15) 'preserves high freq. no matter where you are on the tone control'

I dont get it, i thought the whole point was you could roll of the highs? Explanation?

  • It was "no matter where you are on the volume control". Usually you lose your highs as you roll off the volume....

  • thought that was odd, my bad..

  • I dont like the way Gibson demos their guitars. They use to much of that heavy metal distortion.

  • What's the difference between an ES-339 and a CS-356?

  • Just traded in a Les Paul Special and an SG Special plus some cash for an ES339. Magnificient sound with my Marshall MG250dfx .Got em both at guitar center. Looking forward to many years of pure enjoyment from playing this guitar and amp

  • One more for the road.Filo, my SG does come dam close to the tone of 339 after I put in the 57's., and this is rare, it stays in incredible tune for a gibson. The action is as low as a strat. Very little bow in the neck. Fits like a glove. I got lucky. Not to many kids got to bang on it before I snatched it up.That's why I'm gonna keep her. Keep rockin.................

  • Hey filo, I appreciate the feedback on tone. I personally don't think there is a better or best tone. It's all about what makes your ears smile. After 10 yrs. I finally enjoy my tone. You are right. I'm keeping my SG. I will find a way to get that 339. LOL !! Take care.........

  • when they say "huge semi-hollow tone" for this guitar...they really mean it. Little semi-hollow body. BIG voice.

  • I just bought one (red) and I have to say, this guitar is so beautiful its stunning. Sounds incredible, and i m happy with the purchase. Truth be told, upon careful inspection, I honestly do not believe this is a custom shop guitar...... maybe bits and pieces, but it is an assembly line instrument IMO. Even the case seems cheap as hell. For me, this does NOT take anything away from the instrument, but those looking for a true CS guitar may be a little disappointed.

  • hi there filolovejoy, I envy you. I have a SG standard. To warm is up I put in 57'classic in the neck and a 57' plus in the bridge. It sounds great, but when I played that 339, Dam. I love my SG but that hollowbody tone.,.is sick. Would you trade in a perfect SG for a 339?? I know I will loose a lot ...but dam that vintage tone is the holy grail. Thanks for the review

  • Hey boss! I've seen too many virtuosos (unlike myself) on everything from 355's to SG's to have a decent opinion on what tone is better or best. I've heard my friend extract sounds from his SG that makes me wonder just how the hell he does it (talent!). If you love your SG, I wouldn't trade it for anything... IMO.

  • how much is it?

  • i just found it 4

    £

    1448.69

  • wot is the name of the song that is played in the background (the first one)?

  • I got one last year... What about it: a monster tone, and really reliable, comfortable and lightweight too!! The new Menphis Tone circuit is great, and the clean is amazing :)

  • ya gotta love that classic hollowbody sound but that heavier sound in the begining

  • PLAY SOME METAL!!

lol just jk i love that guitar

  • do these come with laminated top, fuck if it does gibson has gone way downhill

  • I just got one and its a great guitar. They are laminated but es 335, es 137, es 175 always had laminated tops, it reduces feedback and the negative impact on tone is there, but through an amp the difference isn't really audible. Check out the CS-336/356

  • sorry maybe its me but when you spend many g's on a guitar u should have excellent wood, i got a collings i-35 like a year ago and its got pure wood, i dont laminates probably sounds just as good, but personally i think gibson srews people with that

  • I love the I-35 (thought I haven't played one). You are lucky to have one, I think. Problem is I perform on stage with a band of up to 8 and I would just cry if I scratched that beautiful I-35! That's guitar porn at it's best!

  • shkenbake1001,

I was concerned about laminated too. I've played Fenders all my life. Honestly, this guitar just flat rocks. I play it through a Victoria Bassman and it stirs my soul. I don't know what better praise I can give a guitar. If you try on please consider the '59 fat neck like a '58 Les Paul would have. It is the bomb!

  • Heritage guitars offer Gibson reproductions with solid wood tops and cheaper prices. They're located in the old gibson factory in Kalamazoo, MI.

  • actually i think you're right it's even flow--- i know how to play cherub rock

  • Wankmaster it sounds sort of like maybe Even Flow by Pearl Jam or Cherub Rock by Smashing Pumpkins.

  • whats riff at 5:47-5:54? sounds good

  • Oh i noticed the difference. The 339 is a little awkward in terms of looks imo. But it plays nice and feels great. Its not the most amazing thing I've ever seen or played but the fact that I can find one used for under 1500 (or 2 grand new) makes it awesome for the money.

  • so they made a les paul which looks like a 335. big deal

  • as much as this has an amazing tone and the neck is playable, when i went to grab a es335 the neck is just so much more comfortable and thinner and has a slight fatness in the tone, there is a definte reason for the price difference

  • can you get these ones with block inlays?

  • COOL, Thanks for your nice work!

The guitar is rather cool, you can find it from our site, guitarvillage com cn

    The price is rather low!!!

  • what's pedals you used,with the gipson,but one sonid more sonic,postpunk,vintage

  • More like feels like a les paul and sounds like a les paul, not a 335.

  • Hmm, posted in 2007 and the advertising hasn't been corrected. At 2:32 they say 30 one hundredths, and the video shows .030 which is 30 one thousanths.

Gibson owes me a free guitar !!!!!

    :)

  • um, might want to go back to 1st grade math there good buddy. the fist place after a decimal is tenths, then "hundredths" the thousandths.

  • i've played this one before...it's a great guitar. i'd love to have one.

  • love those '57 classics

  • I have to admit, the 339 is a very nice guitar. Now, if only they made on with no F-holes...

  • how come?

  • How come what?

  • why no f holes? would it sound better to ya or sumthin?

  • Yeah, and I just prefer the way they look when they don't have F-holes.

  • Whatever happened to the solidbody version of the 335? Now THAT's a guitar I'd like.

  • that would be great if it came in lefty

  • thats crazy

  • Its a shame they decided to show off this guitar with such shitty playing and overdrive. You really dont get a sense of what the guitar is capable of. Not to mention the fact that they didn't bother to tune the thing. It almost makes me think they don't want you to buy it.

  • then why would they be advertising it ?

  • i wonder what amp/amps they're using..

  • dude i must admit i like the sound of this axe... but still.. i just HATE that body.. and im also more into heavy metal and all that.. so i think ill get an ibanez RG or S cuz i think they kick ass!!!

  • i have on of these and was wondering what gibson pickups could give me a good classsic rock tone.

  • gibson dirty fingers. they were discontinued in the 70's because they were so loud and obnocious but they sound great if you play them now. AMAZING with distortion. 6/10 clean

  • hey there people help me!

    this or les paul standard?!?!

  • whichever one sounds better to u and feels better in ur hands

  • well thats the exact problem! i'm not able to try'em before buying'em!

  • what type of music you play?

  • i play absolutley everything! from jimi hendrix to SRV to guns n roses and snakepit...!mostly stuff that that contains a combination of blues and hard rock!

  • ok a lot of guitarist would say that the Le Paul is versatile, but I think the ES335 can handle anything you throw at it as well. Im a Dot player so I would go for the 335 any given day, I think you should consider this axe, its really awesome in my opinion. I play mostly hard rock and the occasional blues on my 335. I just love the semi hollow feedback that it gives.

  • I mean "Les Paul" not Le Paul. shoot I hate typing mistake LOL crap.

  • I want that guitar so much

  • Lol now im gonna play some metal with mine

  • I like the ES-335's big body style.

  • Me too

  • god, i love this guitars but i hate it when someone plays metal on it

  • Why the hell don't Gibson employ someone who plays well and searches for a good tone in these commercials. I am constantly amazed at how companies such as Gibson, Carvin and Celestion have such hideous soundbytes on their sites and commercials!

  • I don't know about you guys but that a sweet ride. I played one at a local guitar shop and it's was immaculate both sonically and visually. Great great axe if you ask me.

  • i have one and it is to uncomfortable

  • it looks great

    but got horrible reveiws

  • I want it. It looks like an all around great guitar for any occasion, and damn can it handle heavy distortion.

  • yeh it sure can!

  • It won't sound as heavy as a solidbody though cause of the semi-hollow design. Less bottom end.

  • not sure about this. i have just got an es 335 dot reissue and prefer that.

  • The clean is horrible IMO.

Maybe just his amp settings though.

  • uauaua!great guitar!!

  • no tengo ni una wea de guitarra komo xuxa voy aprender

  • I can see why sum people dont like this guitar but come on it's freakin £1500! Its cheaper than the ES335 and it's hum cancelling- the ES335 sounds like a factory when it feeds back!

  • it dosen't seem like it has a ton of sustain...

  • It wouldn't need it... it is still a semihollow.

I've played with it - it feels like a very comfortable mini ES 335. If it had more sustain, it would not appeal to jazz players - if you need more sustain, you can always play through a nice compressor (and let's face it, somewhere in your effects chain - preamp, postamp or in your DAW - there is always at least one compressor).

  • Very true, all of it.

  • nearest gibson dealer?lmao.theres only like 10 or so store chains in the US that are allowed to sell gibsons. They sound great, but Gibson just wants money now, theyre way too expensive.

  • I agree

  • agreed... theyre good guitars, not the best, but for the price they charge, you should be getting the best.

  • seriously, buying a gibson over epiphone is like buying a lincoln over a ford, youre basically just paying for the name.I like Fenders so much more, just for that reason, you get what you pay for,and most of the time more than what you payed for, they sell american made guitars, with amazing quality and tone for under 1/2 the price of a gibson.

  • Actually its like buying a Corvette over a Pinto. But there is no "Best" guitar. Just what people prefer. Theres amazing Gibsons and amazing Fenders. Theres Shit Gibsons and shit Fenders.

  • yes, good point, people who "perfer" Gibsons are usually very wealthy though.

  • Not really, they just saved up enough money. I could buy a Gibson if I worked for it.

  • yeah, instead of buying a gibson hummingbird, i bought an epiphone, which is just as good if you ask me.

  • shit dude, i bought a 59' reissue les paul and a historic reissue sg with a maestro and by this time four years from now, i might just have paid them off. they are way too expensive but i got one word for you: TONE!!! and sam11896, if you set them up right they can be awesome guitars, but nothing compares to the real thing. good luck with it though.

  • Yeah, way to go on saying a statement without any reason saying why Epiphones "suck". It's true, epiphones don't have that quality as the Gibson guitar, but that doesn't mean they "suck".
