You can't get anyone to quit an addiction unless and until they're willing to quit. That's why incarcerated addicts run right back to whatever was their downfall - no matter the length of their incarceration. Unless someone really wants to put forth the effort to quit, what you are left with is slow suicide in motion.
I am not saying Bobby was a bad singer he was the BEST and he is the only guy who can sing this song. It was so sad to learn he did drugs and it was his down fall in the end. Druggies never tell any one. Do they??? it is always done in secret I am just cross he went so early
Not sure what all you people are talking about....there was nothing wrong with his voice here...it was the arrangement of the song that was off. If you watch the rest of this concert you will see his voice was almost as good as ever. As for the cocaine it was never proven that he had a problem. Bill Medley never knew about it nor did his family. For all we know he tried it once and the one time killed him.
@orrfhan You are so naive. He died not of the dose he took that day. He died of the buildup of the cocaine in his small body. And you think that Bill Medley never knew about it nor did his family!!!! Bill's exact words, "We are like an old married couple, Bobby and me." Why don't you read my comment on the video " The Righteous Brothers perform Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Inductions 2003." Thomas Shaller worked for my mother. And I talked to Lee Shaller on the phone.
@fblancelot I will read your comments on the other videos. But you should read an interview the Orange County Register did with Medley in 2004 where he states"he knew "absolutely nothing" about Hatfield's drug use. "I would have said something to him," And I remember watching a video clip where he stated more or less the same thing.
@orrfhan Well, why don't you see (or if you have) if you can get the CD "One Evening with the Righteous Brothers." Bobby blacked out after he sang "Unchained Melody" and started to go up to his room in The Orleans. This concert was in 2002. Bill stopped him; Bobby said...it's been happening a lot lately." Bill said, "Yeah, and we are concerned." (So asshole, if you were so concerned why didn't you get him to go to the doctor.) Then Bill says, "If we would have known, we would have
@orrfhan taken better care of ourselves." And you are telling me he didn't know....I know first hand, from Bobby himself, telling me on a cement bench in Corona Del Mar at Lookout Point, that Bill was the one who got Bobby into those fucking drugs in the first place. I used to see Bobby and we had a secret relationship and we were getting married on my birthday in 12/2004.And Bill didn't even know. I tried to commit suicide twice after he died because I could not handle the grief.
@fblancelot You really expect people to believe that rubbish about you having a "secret relationship" with Bobby? And in Dec 2004?! He died in 2003! And he was still married and loved his wife. Why do people like you make up this kind of rubbish? You have nothing to gain from it.
@fblancelot --- It is you who are not only naive, but also possessor of a huge imagination! Bobby died from the toll that cocaine use took on his heart. It was not a buildup of the drug in his body. Cocaine washes out of the body in time, but it does damage the heart muscle in the process. That's why some people die from cocaine use. The heart blows out. You engaged to Bobby? Please. Give his memory a rest. Let's all just appreciate his contribution to the Arts while he was alive.
No it's not cocaine, The problem is high notes for men. You have power when you are young, but when to age you get cut off from your hight notes. This problems does not affect bill medlay type singer who sings low notes by nature. When you age it is natural to lose the high notes.
@MEGADRIVEJeroi I'm a singer. The way he lowered his voice on "mine" was so skillful, you'd have to be a singer to know just how difficult that is. Incredible what he did on that.
interesting....but compared to his early voice his intonation and sound got poor...sorry to say but johnny maestro sounded better than bobby when he was 70 years old
@TheHaos1 O MT goodness what did he do to his voice what a shame he was so sooooo very good was it the drugs?? I loved this guy his singing was perfect tim this shame
wow how sad, Bobby was the greatest singer in the world. It's hard to watch this.
