  • love my ME-70, I use it with headphones no amp

Going to run it through a PEAVEY 5150 and Ultra Plus through a 4x12 in stereo

Getting the EC-1000 soon, firts ESP, have only owned Jacksons til now

  • It almost sounds like a funk version of goodby to romance

  • What's the big difference between the GT-8 and the ME-70?

  • it has more effects and more features like looping, pitch shifter, etc..

  • Well, if you like simlicity, ME70 is for you.

GT-8 definitely knows a lot more, but it also takes a lot more time to get on.

ME-70 is a winner amond multifx becouse of its simplicity.

Its a toy, taht actually sounds pretty nice.

  • nice studio bro

  • is it better than the boss me 50

    nice video

  • it has more features and is more expensive, but quality wise, it's about the same.

  • My answer is yes.

I owned the me 50 for 5 years.

Now I changed it to the 70.

The 70 has a lot more useful features while many useless, and bad ones are left behind. To my ears the sound qualitiy is also better.

It is simply a great unit.

Buy one if you hadnt done it yet!

    Cheers

  • i actually sold it a couple of months ago. i got rid of the crate amp and bought a peavey vypyr 60 watt tube amp. i thought the different distortions and effects on the amp sounded a lot better than what was on the me-70 and hadn't been using it. i do wish i had kept it, because i also recently got a peavey classic 100 half stack, which has no effects other than reverb, and it's a pretty clean amp, not much gain, so it could use a little help when i want some extra crunch.

  • I see.

I think if we buy any device, first we have to clear what we need it for. I am in two amateur band right now. I have two amps for that reason. With transistors :-( I have all my sounds in the me70 and I am going with it to the practices and performances of both bands. As I listened to this video, its obvious that the vypyr sound better than the me70. But with the bandit the its a winner. But what really counts is in our hands anyway!

    Cheers!

  • @mikewsmith1972 buy another one, or yet even better, buy it back...

  • @TheSugarFreedom i'm seriously thinking about it now that i have a couple of tube amps. i've found that most multi effects units that sound really digital through a solid state amp sound ten times better through a tube amp.

  • Does anybody know is there a power adaptor in the delivery contents? pls answer that xD thx

  • doesn't come with one...and they cost about $20

  • i bough this pedal today, not so sure about it though

  • give it some time...it takes awhile to get to know it.

  • anyone know where i can buy this pedal in singapore

  • check out boss's website. They might have a list of dealers on there.

  • What about playing metal on it?

  • the amp's distortion is good for an 80's metal sound. maybe something like dokken. anything else, you'll want to use a pedal. it's at it's best with an ac/dc or zz top type sound.

  • Is the crate flexwave 65 good for practing with a band? I was thinking about getting that amp and the ME-70.

  • in a garage or basement, i can have it on 5 or 6 and it's plenty loud. it does start to get a little thin any louder than that.

  • the thing about this multi-effects unit is its just like owning a S***load of BOSS pedals for a LOT less than what they sell individually for. IE) the delay pedal that comes within the unit costs 160 bucks normally, and you can get the whole ME -70 for like 250-275

  • yeah man. i so want this shit so baaad!D!!! NEXT PAY DAY AND ITS MIIINEE!!!!! god damn now i gotta wait a week :(

  • hell yeh thats my same plan

  • After talking about this thing I had to go to my local GC and check one out. They are crazy simple to use. I would love to hear the preamps recorded direct. Such a cool little box, and the fact that it has a looper bumps it up a notch, too--my GT-8 doesn't have one.

  • the looper is only good for 38 seconds and, in my opinion, the overdrives aren't as good as the gt-10(i've never used the gt-8)...the clincher for me was that it was $200 cheaper than the gt-10. and i thought it was much better than the line6 models and a lot easier to use than the digitechs in the same price range. personally, i don't think any multieffects unit can sound as good as stomp boxes. but until hit the lottery, i'll be fine with this...lol

  • hiya!

The only thing keeping me from buying this is not personally testing it in a pa system or through a recording interface.

have you tried recording this and did you do it with regular instrument cable or a stereo split cable? do the recordings/sounds come out clear through both pa/computer??

so sorry for the questions if they dont apply...

    thanks!

  • If I understand you correctly, you're talking about plugging directly into a board either in a live or studio situation. You have to bare in mind that the ME-70 does NOT model amps and cabinets--it is merely a multi-effects unit. If you want to have a package that models amps/cabinets AND effects, you should look at a unit like the Boss GT-10 or Line 6's PodXT or X3. I personally own a Boss GT-8 and I absolutely love it--all my home recording is done direct with that unit!

  • actually it does have 6 amp models on the preamp.

  • Goodness, you are right! I must now eat my words. But If you're looking for bang for your buck, especially in terms of going straight into a board, I would still go with either a used Boss GT-8 or a Pod XT Live (or a GT-10 or X3 Live if you wanna drop the cash).

  • obviously, the more you spend, the more you'll get. i'd much rather have a gt-10, but i didn't want to spend that much. and i have plenty of amp and cab models with my recording software. and i personally don't use any effects when i'm jamming with my buddies.

  • bobslove, I've been using mine every week at church through their p.a. system for several weeks now and all I can say is "wow"! You won't be dissappointed.

  • hi , do you recommend the boss ME-70 ?

    i want to buy one

  • you really have to put some weight into the toe to get it to turn on. it's a pain in the ass, but at least you don't continuously accidentally turn it off like on the digitech boards.

  • Can you program the intelligent harmonizer according to key, major or minor chords and scales? Or does it only harmonize just a certain key like zoom multi effects?

  • you can set the key, and then set it to 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, or 8th(up or down). you can also set the volume level of the harmonized notes.

  • I bought one of these today and can tell you that it's a fantastic sounding pedal and worth every penny. I'm a picky bluesy guy and the overdrives sound very natural, the looper is easy to use and the extra pedal means you can get a volume boost for solos. They've got rid of some annoying, pointless effects such as ring modulation as well as the patch change lag etc.I'm very happy with it and think you will be too!The only thing I'd wish they'd have kept is the cool 5 LED tuner on the 50! Peace x

  • i would definitely recommend it. but i'd also recommend using separate distortion and reverb pedals with it. it sounds okay through the crate, but it sounds much better through a tube amp. especially for bluesy kind of sound. if metal is your thing, you will definitely want a separate distortion pedal.

  • sounds good man!

damnit when are theY makein the ME-70B!!

  • those of you who have used both what would you say are the main differences between me 70 and me 50?

and note I'm far from a guitar effects expert and all I own right now is a big muff pi distortion pedal

  • The me 70 has a phrase looper w/ 38 sec. of rec time, uni vibe effect, ability to control modulation effects w/ the foot controller, 4-band eq option when not using amp models in the preamp section, the me 50 doesnt, the only thing i think the me 50 has that the 70 doesnt, is a ring modulator. the me 70 is probably you best bet, better tone too...

  • is there also a wha pedal?

  • yes, there is, not a bad one, also has a pitch shifter (+ or - 1 octave), and the exp pedal automatically goes into a volume pedal when not using wah, uni v or other things used for the exp pedal

  • k nice thanks

  • yes

  • thanks

  • thanks, but i went with the 50 anyways since i have virtually no distortion and effects experience/knowlege and it only cost me $130 on ebay vs. paying $300 for the me 70

  • I just bought one last night. I have the ME 50 and the 70 definitely sounds cleaner. It has fixed the excessive noise the 50 had in some patches and now you can change banks while playing and you get AMP MODs too. love these rigs.

  • how does this work as opposed to purchasing seperate pedals, its definately cheaper, but is it up to the same standard?

  • It's less customizable than if you were to create your own rig with separate pedals. For example, on this effects board you cant use two modulation effects at one time. If you're creating your own effects board, however, then there are less limitations. You can run a million pedals at the same time. However, that'd be really expensive, and it takes more know how. I'd say, all in all though, for the price tag, this is probably your best bet. I just bought one. it's great.

  • btw, on the me-70 you can run about four/five effects at the same time, depending on how you look at it. it's very very customizable, but not nearly as customizable as a rig you created yourself. However, if you do decide to assemble your own rig, then you can just add this effects board into the mix, and since you can a shitload of those same effects on this board for the price of 2-5 pedals, this thing is totally worth it.

  • yeah, price is the main draw for me, i cant really afford to buy a single pedal just for a small amount of use, like a harmonizer, i would never buy one on its own, but i would definatly use it with the ME-70, if that makes sense. I think I'll save up for this, rather than separate pedals, cheers!

  • There are four different effects categories. Modulation, distortion, delay, and Compression. Then there's a reverb knob and wah. You can't play two effects from the same category simultaneously, but you can play any effects from different categories simultaneously. Then, of course, you can tweak each effect in a multitude of ways... rate speed, gain, etc. Then add the wah pedal and that adds even more customizability. And like i said... add more pedals to it as you feel necessary later on.

  • thanks man, it sounds really cool, as soon as i can get one, i will!

  • Sorry for the misleading advice. I'd just bought the me-70 that day and barely had time to try it out.

I guess just be realistic and figure out what single pedals you want to use most and start there. Music is an unavoidably expensive hobby.

  • your right about that lol, maybe i should get a new amp first, cos my old one really doesn't cut it, and if i ever feel like gigging, the amp will be more important than the effects, i'll just see how things pan out! cheers!

  • i accidentally hit 'remove' instead of 'reply' for your other comment...but as far as the distortion: it's not that good, but i've found that by setting the preamp on eq with the gain maxed out, and setting the compression on lead, and then choosing a distortion setting, it sounds decent. i have a couple of stomp boxes that sound better, though.

  • hey man. is their any latency while changing patches in the memory mode? and how do you change banks while playing live?

  • Hey Mike. How Much Did you pay on you Me-70? I'm from Brazil and that product didn't even arrive here, but I'm crazy for buying it.

If we use the Me-50 prices, In Brazil the Me-70 will cost more or less U$ 600

    here, or R$ 1300.

  • wow! here in america it only costs 300 U.S. dollars

  • Comment removed

  • Ya you're right, the pedals do add too much treble.

  • I bought this last Friday. Sounded good on the amp i tried it on but when I tried it on my Marshall TSL601(Tube) it has too much highs and mids. I think I just have to mess around with the settings some more. Any recommendations. I want the distortion to have more bass. I tried the pre amp on clean and Equalizer. Smae thing.

  • you could try using the compression. or combining the 'rectifier' setting with one of the distortion settings, like 'metal'. that tends to get a bit noisy, though. the only tube amp i've used mine on was a peavey half stack. i got a great blues sound out of it, but i couldn't get a good crunch without massive volume. if nothing else works, you may have to use a seperate distortion pedal with it.

  • Try to use the marshall pre-amp instead of the Boss. Boss distortions are shit but effects are great. Connect the me 70 to the FX loop and also try to add a boss EQ pedal before the ME, that will add life and make your tube amp sound better.

  • What about the quality of the line recording??

Have you recorded de audio outs direct into a preamp??This is my main doubt between buying this tool and the gt-10.

In other way, is the rectifier the only "metal" amp that it comes with??

Some audio samples on line recording would be infinitely apreciated.

  • toy is the operarive word here

  • operarive?

  • try recording with it. especially try using the headphones with the rfier, then kick in the chorus ... you will see what i mean ... but for other functions like you are using it, it seems OK, i'm glad you are happy with yours.

  • i don't record directly into my laptop. i mic the amp and run it through a preamp into the computer. i think it sounds more natural....but then again, for me this is strictly a hobby. i record for my own amusement and jam with some friends in the garage. that's what i've been doing for 20 years, so i'm sure that's as far as i'm ever going to go, so i don't want to spend the money on a professional quality unit. but if somebody GAVE me one, that would be a different story...

  • dikinuface, Why don't you like recording with it?

  • i did not even try to record, i just listened to it through head phones and when i kicked in the chorus it sounded so bad i returned it. it does not have any digital outs for recording either

  • did you ever think that the output was too high, causing your headphones to clip? theres an output control nob, which can be used to lower the overall level, which means there would be no clipping when recording, and then one can use recording software to bring the level back to where one wants it, called normalization.

  • no it was not a clipping issue. it just sounded horrible ... unrecordable. i'm telling it like it was for me. otherwise, i love boss products, i own several, that is why i tried this one but wow did it suck for me. i use a pod xt now and it rocks in every way.

  • what kind of guitar is in the shop? i have a new gibson 08 standard im thinkin about getting an me 70 how do you think it will through a marshall mg?

  • it's an epiphone sg prophecy....i just sold a 50 watt mg. i love marshall tube amps, but their solid state amps aren't really my thing. i wouldn't mind it if i could afford to have 4 or 5 amps. i like crates because they're versatile.

  • the mg series arent the best but they aren't terrible i got the mg100 as a birthday gift so it didn't complain

  • no, they are solid, quality amps. i just couldn't get a tone i really liked out of them

  • is there any negatives about this pedal. like any lag between switching from distortion to clean.

  • it switches instantly. i don't think there's anything wrong with any of the functions. if there's any negatives, i'd say it would mostly be personal preference kind of stuff. i don't think the distortion is great. it's good, but i have a few pedals that are much better. and the reverb isn't very good. it sounds the same as the reverb on my little 15watt spiderIII practice amp. other than that, i have no complaints.

  • I have the pedal and up to now its ok, there is no lag..the only thing I don't like is the blues distortion and the wah could be better...but after all is a good pedal.

  • i didn't like the blues setting either at first, but i set the preamp on "eq" and played around with that and got a better sound out of it. and wah pedals are never good on these units. at least not any that i can afford.

  • You'r right, I've just tried with eq and the sound seems better. Its a shame wah isnt good enough...I cant afford better pedals either cause I'm from argentina and everything here is so expensive for us ¬¬. Thanks for the info!

  • Anyone who likes the sound of the boss stompboxes, this is an essential. The geniuses at boss just created a brand new upgraded version of this beast and It is awsome. I own one and am impressed with all the sounds it provides.

  • nice multieffects bro...

excuse me , can you said me what camcoder used in your video? great quality.

  • it's just a little cannon digital point and shoot. 7.1 megapixels.

  • ...but I like what you play guy!

  • same digital fizzzzz as ever

  • I got mine when it first came out, but I had a few problems with the memory mode. No sound would come through the amp on certain random banks. If anyone else has this problem, let me know

  • dude i just bought mine too. Stayed up ALL night playing around with it. it truly is amazing. coulda done with a bit more reverb. but overall, they did a killer job.

  • yeah, i'm not crazy about the reverb either. it sounds like it's trying to mimic a natural spring reverb and that never works for me with a digital effect. but i can get it somewhat to my liking by combining it with just a little bit of delay.

  • Have you noticed any latency when switching patches?

  • none, it's instant. i'm just using it for fooling around with home recording and jamming with friends in the basement, but if you're playing gigs, i can't imagine that it wouldn't be more than adequette.

  • how is the sound of the me 70 compared to a boss gt 8?

  • it doesn't have as many options at the gt8, but i think the sound quality of what you can get out of it is just as good. and it's a LOT simpler to use.

  • I just used mine for the first time today at church. I can tell you that it passed the test with flying colors. Now I'm able to keep my huge Furman powered board with ind. effect pedals at home and save on the wear and tear of my back muscles. I showed up at church, pulled this out of a duffle bag, plugged this thing in and was ready to play within 5 minutes, it was great!

  • Hey! Your getting really good. This is your best playing yet. Is that prerecorded track you have there?

  • thanks man...yeah, this pedal has a looper. you can record up to 38 seconds and it will loop it. and then you can overdub it an infinite amount of times. definitely the coolest effects unit i've ever bought.

  • Ok thanks

  • Hey a friend of mine is going to buy one for me. Does it come with the ac adapter or do you have to buy one? Thanks.

  • no, it didn't come with one. and they cost $25-30(depending where you get it)

  • I love this pedal. You know what also love? Your playing.

  • thanks!
