Oh, sure, there's a place in the world for musicians like Beal, but that place is not on the same stage with a genius like Hiromi

Compared to real sax players i.e Dexter Gordon, John Coltrane, Coleman Hawkins, Ben Webster, etc. etc., this guy is an embarrasment . This is like a circus act - you go to see the fat lady to watch her eat five loaves of bread & drink 6 quarts of milk - you listen to this guy to see how far away from real music he can get, and it's amazing how unmusical & bad it gets. He's a champ in that dept.

It just really pisses me off that I work my ass off to become a good musician and the only thing this guy has to do is learn a riff and shake around like he's seizing and he's famous. There's something really fucked up with the world. He's already gotten more exposure than the Chris Potters, Mark Turners, and Marcus Stricklands, with hardly a fraction of the skill.

he made it to the top 35, but not to the top 20. his performance in vegas was amazing, and got a standing ovation, but they didnt air it. he's currently living in CA, doing gigs and making a CD. He is also in the process of recording the theme song to a new sitcom coming out this fall.
