its amazing the lipo didnt burst into flames these guys will do anything to gain a 10th of a second. a hobby for these guys i think not they take it to the extreme and kill all the fun ..
"Freezespray" is actually the aerosol cans of compressed air for dusting computers. You simply hold the can upside-down and the liquid comes out super cold. The aerosol IS flammable. A small cloud of it must have been around the battery connector when they plugged the new battery in.
the spray contacted the fresh pack on the connector and arced. Thus causing a quick fireball. The Hyperdrive team finished the stop and the car continued the enduro. Only a few singes, no one was seriously injured.
Someone needs to check the "freezespray" and read about it being flammable. Flammable vapors touch motor that is above the flashpoint of the material and you got fire.
it looked like barry just stared at it for like 30 seconds haha

Next year, just install one of those novak velociti heat sinks rings with a fan. Skip the freeze spay or use CO2.

I wonder if a small arc resulting from connecting the new battery caused the freeze spray to ignite?
Sometimes,if the connectors are dirty,it'll create a small spark.
