  • my left ear enjoyed this

  • I don't think that's allowed on FIBA tournees since you have to dripple with the first step, if you are in firm position upon receiving the ball, not after it.

  • Those black guys know damn well they could dunk that.

  • if u jump to the ball, before it gets to you, isn't that a travel? just asking..

  • @Nightmareaka nope, no possession, good Q though :D

  • @Nightmareaka Nope. As long as it's not in your hands, you can do whatever you want.

  • lool, 1:03 white boy misses and couch gets angry and stops the process

  • this coach is annoying as fuck

  • lol.. Why the white guy gota miss, two times! Vid was good.

  • Haha, the white guy missed twice...

  • wont we get blocked from behind if we do this ?

  • @ronaldruslan no homo, keep your butt out and between defender and the ball. if they do wind up blocking it, they'll probably get hit with a foul because they have to climb over you to get it.

  • @draciel80 thx man

  • @ronaldruslan anytime

  • Man that was a pussy dunk

  • @andy57football the point is the drill buddy, not dunking. Ur still gona get ur 2 points if u do it right

  • good basic moves ...i can dig

  • 1:01 oh u dunked..ur automatically cooler dan anybody noww

  • that's not a power layup

  • 2:03 layup fail by the white guy lmao

  • 2:13-2:16 shoot it with your right hand, after he two hand dunks

  • 2:13-2:16 shoot with your right hand, after he two hand dunks

  • Oh my gosh...He so short...

Im an undersized post but...Woah id mash him.(And im a girl)

  • lol pause at 0:18, HIS RAPING HIM!

  • midget lol

  • nobody can dunk here? o man

  • @relaxedchong u must be blind and deaf

  • Is that an asian?

  • The coach is like 5'6''.

  • @natedaug1 and he has 10x the basketball smarts as anyone on that court.

  • you actually dont have to dribble at all

  • because of this video, i can score 60 points tomorrow

  • No one does that anymore, at least not in AAU.

  • funny how a little guy is teaching low post moves, but he's good and i'm just 6 feet, but i like to post up.

  • step first and then DRIBBLE? u serious?

  • @relaxedchong well yeah. ur pivot is still on the ground during the step. the dribble is for bringing the pivot off the ground to finish with the lay. happy hoopin!

  • @relaxedchong search for "Hop Step vs. the Drop Step" :40-:57

  • this team must be a killer

  • yea all you have to do is make sure you dribble before that last foot comes up, the movement in between then is still pivoting which you can do before you dribble.

  • the first and the second guy working on the left side traveled..you need to bounce the ball once and then explode.

  • he does a great job of coaching here, very energetic and meaningful. Being an effective big man is all about foot work and being comfortable playing with your back to the rim!

  • You take A big step then dribble as you bring your other foot toward the basket but keep the dribble low, and like he said sweeping dribble.

  • while you're turning or else it be called a travel

  • Do you step first then dribble, or dribble while your turning?

  • step first

  • hey, can i do the Drop step AFTER picking up my dribble...? sorry still learning...thanks.

  • @farongatha good question i'd like to know too

  • Does the white guy at the start of the video not travel as he demonstrates as the coach tells him what to do. Then later he tell him he must dribble or it's a walk.

  • no,

    not at first

  • and the second time hes not talking to him either. but yeah good point.

  • wroooooong! never bring the ball down, never!!!!

  • You fucking rookie you drop the ball becuase 9/10 players will try to steal the ball around your waist area, so when you drop it and come up you force a foul and a good chance at making it with the foul, its simple

  • What is this coach's name? He sounds very powerful, would love to learn his coaching techniques.

  • theres like 4 black guys

  • AHHAHAHAH! BLACK DUDE MAJOR TRAVEL!

  • haha sumokid good find! what about the black guy traveling at 0:52? didn't see him?

  • its better to use your elbow to push them out of your way

  • @metube1515 that's an offensive foul and you can't hook someone.

  • lol of course the honkie misses the layup at 2:04

  • There's no reason to dribble when ur that close. You wanna put the ball up as soon as possible, not give the defender extra time to react.

  • no you need that dribble to give you that extra step so you're facing the basket.

  • wtf i'm in high school wouldn't they call travel on me cuz i took two steps without dribbling

  • By turning with your pivot foot instead, you accomplish the same task, and use less time; you don't need to dribble to use your pivot foot.

  • based on this drill you have to dribble, lifting the pivot foot at all will result in a travel unless both feet are in the air (i.e. jump and turn from drop step position)

  • @charkoly no, you need to dribble on the drop step. one bounce, low and strong.

  • that only prooves you are not a center...

drop step is the most common move in every single centers moveset.

this move is a slow yet very powerful move.

the idea of the drop step is that when you cut into the defenders lane you throw him away with that movement and since you are already in the lane its rare to get the offensive foul call.

after you made the turn you just power your way up.

i usually use my elbows to power up so that the defender will stay away from me.

  • I understand what your saying, there is nothing wrong the drop step at all. All im saying is that the dribble in the move is unnecessary; it only makes the lay-up take longer. It isn't a walk/travel like the coach said.

  • you need the one bounce dribble.

  • You only need the dribble if you're going to take a hop, or a step for a lay up, but from where he's at, all he has to move is his pivot foot.

  • @jingeshan24 the drop step is not slow. It is explosive. It is powerful. It is the one unstoppable move.

  • @hwnman this move is very slow compared to other moves a big man can do. and trust me, it's very very stoppable, aspecially if the big guy cant use his lenght properlly...

  • @hwnman sadly, that's the only move i have in my arsenal right now...

  • you can only legally layup from that position without dribbling if you are 7 feet or if you have springs in your feet from a dead jump... the move in itself will be akward

  • This is a terrible move in the park, great move in a league.

  • cuz no one plays positions in the park... in a league ur usually playing in a specific position

  • yeah greatt thing

  • good video! Make sure you seal your opponent's leg with your butt. Ex: cross your left thigh against opponent's left leg. That's why you step first then pound the ball.

  • @Doomcroft do you cross your leg in front of his leg or behind him?

  • @Doomcroft that's what she said.

  • when you get the ball its good to fake one side then do the drop to get the defender is a position for you to use this move. Its very good though! Although i still get blocked against the 7ft3 black giezer on ma team even when i get by him!

  • this maybe works but your difender isnt a statue to push him with one leg.....

  • I have this DVD. This is A great move in the post. Most players think they need to use A fancy move but this move is so simple but very very effective. As A player It is good to study post players in the NBA. Like Amare Soudamire, Shaq, Tim Duncan, Kevin Garnett, Ben Wallace, Dwight Howard and see and emulate what makes them successful. Thiis Shaq's signature move.

  • i am 5'9 173 but i am way quicker than that but this move really works and once you add that and you get the up and under and the fataway jump shot like dirk nowitzki has you will be unstoppable i do this all the time

  • so technically what ure saying is u get about a meter from the rim and U pull away and rather shoot jumper then get this easy layup?????

  • Not to be racist but the white guys missed two shots. and the black guys didn't just saying.

  • racist ban from youtube

  • i mean if you pick your right foot up and do a lay up after

  • ya sure i know its a good move but most of those guys probibly are ready know what a drop step is i use this alot but its to easy to defend

  • im in juiner high and this move is really easy this guy really doesnt know much what he is talking about thats how u do the move but he is telling guys that could beat him silly in a game of basketball i am not even that tall 5'8 and i can do good in the post but this move is just really easy

  • He does know what hes talking about mate. The drop step is the key to everything in the post, getting a good pivot and strong dribble. And thats a very ignorant thing to say about teaching guys that are better than him. I learnt everything I know of a 5'10 guard. and this guy in the video knows his shit

  • I think this is a nice fundamental move and some don't really know about this move. This move can easily help big guy score down low. I am not that tall so it will be hard for me to pull this off. good video though

  • you can also try it with a pump-fake

  • kool beans!

  • it is not important how tall you are i am 6''0 and i get a lot of points with moves like this i just kick it off higher off the backboard...it's about how close you get to the basket and that simple move is a good help...though i guess me and many others already knew it before....but in my opinion it's all about fundamenals...look at mj, did he need and1 moves ?? he just made his fundamentals so well, that he didn't need killer crossovers and so on. it's just about doing your moves correctly !

  • exactly... i played post in high school 11th grade against a dude that was 6'7 300 pounds (played football at our school) , im 6'4 a lot lighter and because of my fundamentals i could score on him every time.. a good coach is everything

  • no man dont try to make you what ever you're not,not tryint to offend but a 6.7 300 pounds player who knows how to play defense would kill you in the post

  • a. im 6'4 220... b. im way quicker c. i got way longer limbs d. i could jump higher e. if u knew how to play basketball u could get a foul called on him EVERY time... if u were a smart post player u would know that big slow players are easy to get them in the position you want them in and draw fouls... dont question me

  • stop saying shit, and what the fuck was the dont question me?ffs even if you can jump high got good post moves and quick footwork you wont dominante a 6.7,ever

  • u need to stop arguing... the point im trying to make before u keep doubting... (idc if u dont believe me i know hundreds of ppl that would agree with me and have seen it firsthand) is that fundamentals can get around anything if your good enough. 3 inches is NOT that much man.. conversation over

  • didnt ment to disrespect ur abilty but a 6.4 can't dominante a good defensive 300 pounds 6.7

  • i thought you always learned not to bring ball down cause you could get it stolen by smaller player

  • lol those guys are all 6 foot plus right? They can easily touch the board after a layup

  • This guy is a good coach

  • you don't have to dribbble, my coach gets made if you do, just don't take your pivot foot off the ground.

  • Nice Video! Very Very Helpful. Id love having u as my coach>.

  • of course not, that's why you need to pivot to make the shot.

  • if they din't dribble and just pivoted with the left foot and did a lay up is that traveling

  • it is if u move ur right foot as well, other than that, no its not traveling

  • i mean if you pick your right foot up and do a lay up after

  • replace the front foot with the ball.

  • half those guys are cheating... on the left side, they are still drop stepping to their right... CHEATERS! lol

  • never bring the ball down low!!

  • No, The drop step is not for huge guys. WHy do you think that? That will work for any guy of any size.

  • or girl, i use that all the time!

  • our coach's frikkin tall, he used to play pro ball in the US but came to taiwan to play pro ball. he's the uncle of roy helu, the university of nebraska running back.

  • this drop step is only for huge guys

  • y's that midget playing post?

  • lol i was thinkin the same thing but then i remembered that the post coach at our school is only like 5'3

  • hahaha

  • it's true, i swear

  • it doesn't matter how tall you are at the post, you can 6'0" and still play. Muscell is the key.

  • check out my page and my videos way better than this one

  • thats helping

  • The guys on the far side should take the drop step to the side and instead of ending in the middle of the zone they end up right under the basket for an easy left-handed layup.

  • thse guys are huge

  • coach is juss little.. makes everyone look bigger lol

  • lol i was wondering :P

  • Imma post(wnba) babyyyy<33

  • ohh my

  • man they needa learn how to hold the ball in the post.. they dont even have thier elbows out..

  • dats dat player from ucl, dat look lyike a monkey!!!

  • Dat dim1997 use english bad.

  • yaaaahhhhh

    simple yet effective

  • weeeeew...ilove that stuff^^

  • is the coach there Dick Luther?

cuz ive been to some of his summer camps and by the way drop step is very useful at game time i've used it many times and i get past the player easily ^^

  • rofl brokenpogo if you want to watch some gay porn juste ask your father for some.

  • ill so use that brokenpogo91s retarded

  • wow im going to use that during the game next time.

  • yeah this stuff is good fundamentals. if you learn this stuff youll dominate down low.

  • If you're a post player, you know what you're looking at is great basic principles. If your a retard, you make comments like brokenpogo91

  • well said!

on another note, i find this very useful in my post playing.
