I'd say it is definitely a rougher sound than 'mainstream' The Underground Stream is I guess what they'd classically call "darkcore". But when it was released, it would have been Industrial, just like the early Enzyme X tracks, which if you listen to now, are softer than modern mainstream.

@EdwinH4L I still think leans more towards industrial sounding than mainstream though, Neophyte, Art Of Fighters, Amnesys etc is what I consider normal "mainstream" hardcore, this has a bit more grit, it's slower and more grindy than mainstream. You obviously know your shit as well so really we are splitting hairs, I just wouldn't describe it as purely mainstream.
