How is the bum fights in any way responsible for him giving up alcohol and having a job? They are completely unrelated. It was his lucky encounter with an employer that helped uplift his life. If anything from looking at this video it seems he would feel humiliated, exploited and completely degraded as human being by his experiences with the bum fights. I love how they try to make Barry Soper look like an awesome philanthropist when initially he yelled at Rufus to get off his property. Only after an elderly neighbor that overheard the exchange convinced Mr Soper to hire them did he even show any interest in them.
