  • Well this sounds just stupid.

  • @mikkaramies STFU Asking Alexandria is playing.

  • @JohnKillsGods Oh sorry, I thought this was Meshuggah since the title and all. No wonder this sounds stupid.

  • meshuggah fans think THIS is progressive and think this is confusing rhythms :p everybody check out the song inane by threat signal and thumbs up if its way more crazy than this :)

  • @77Jesuscansaveyou777 xD You read my fucking mind. Threat Signal does that shit like crazy. I tried to tap the beat to "As I Destruct" and was like "wtf?"

  • Comment removed

  • @77Jesuscansaveyou777

This song came out 11 years before Inane, this song is mindbogglingly progressive considering it is 17 years old today.

Inane by Threat Signal was hardly progressive, considering Meshuggah had been making music like this for 11 years before Threat Signals even came onto the scene.

Also, Threat Signals draws most or all of their influence from Meshuggah, so stop being a fucking hater and just listen to the music. Why do teenage scene douchebags like you always do this?

  • @evilcheese439 to be fair, progressive metal has been around for a very long time. long before Meshuggah came onto the scene. Don't get me wrong, Meshuggah is a great band and they've been very influencial in the progressive metal scene...but they weren't the pioneers

  • @paulyboy911 yes they were... dipshit

  • @funnystonervideos nah. Dream Theater, Fates Warning, Pain of Salvation, King's X, Queensryche....these guys were the pioneers of progressive metal. Rush is really the root of all of it. Along with Jethro Tull, Procol Harum, King Crimson, etc... Meshuggah added their own flavor...but there were a lot of prog bands who came before them. Don't see a reason to call me a dipshit. I did say that Meshuggah is a great band and had a tremendous influence on a lot of current progressive metal.

  • @evilcheese439 yo, im not tryna start anything. just putting my opinion out there. and for the record, the second part of inane is a 4/4 to 7/8 to 8/8 to 7/8 and repeats and repeats. youre probably wondering why i said 8/8 instead of 4/4. it starts on an 8th note and ends on an 8th note. in the middle of all these random time signatures, the main cymbal on the drums is consistently beating as if in 4/4 time. if that's not progressive than i dont know what is.not hating just sayin..

  • But can they play Smoke on the Water?

  • @DrumPower3004 made me spit out my drink

  • @DrumPower3004

    Yes.

  • that intro is fuckin intense

  • Everyone in my dorms jams out to Meshuggah; whether they like it or not :D

  • Want to listen to it until I am deaf

  • Fucking m/

  • when i hear this, i have no choice but to mosh

  • i lost the one...

  • as far as i remember the lyrics are a bit wrong.

  • Koloss

  • NEW ALBUM "KOLOSS" MARCH 26TH!!!!!

  • @regidonnie 2 days after my birthday :D

  • they came up with a new sound of course some one who likes it is gonna fuckin rip them off dumb asses. thats like saying ugg that thrash band ripped off slayer or oh that hardcore band ripped of terror. its called a genre of music...

  • 1:27 doggie dick

  • @eyesgIazed lolololololololololololololololool he does say doggie diiiiiickkkk lmao

  • shame the drums sound like shit

  • @roux44 Extreme metal is supposed to sound like shit. It's about playing and screaming as ugly as you can, and the sound is supposed to fit with that. If I wear my sound engineer glasses I hate this to death (no, I'm not wearing them ATM).

  • @Dellerss extreme metal is not supposed to osund like shit.

otherwise us metalheads wouldn't listen to it

  • @bearblaster420 Well... While this is certainly arguable... Black metal try to sound lo-fi.. Which can sound like shit.. So. SOME extreme metal is suppose to sound like shit.

But like I said. It's arguable. Is black metal extreme? Is lo-fi shitty? Etc. ;]

  • @Garband black metal is extreme lo-fi doesn't sounds that shitty just more like echo-y... and thats a matter of opinion.

  • @Dellerss Well that's your opinion if you think it sounds like shit, but if it did, why is it relatively big? If it sounded like shit, it wouldn't be around, now would it?

  • @RebornInFlames7892 Subjectively, it does IMO. It fits with the music, but it DOES sound like shit. This track for instance, doesn't sound good, even though it's well played and a good song. Like I said, I think it kinda fits the music, but I think the mixer did a bad job. Where's the bass for instance? Too much treble in comparison, and therefore it sounds unbalanced. Might have something to do with the song being old though.

  • @Dellerss This I have to agree with to an extent. When I first heard this song, literally the first thing that popped into my head was, "What the fuck was that?" I literally couldn't follow it or even comprehend it, and it made it really tough for me to enjoy the song, yet I could enjoy the other songs. It could be that the production was meh, but eventually I was able to appreciate the song for what it was, mainly after I saw it live.

  • 0:49 VENASAURRRR EVOLVES!!!!

  • ie ie ie ie, trn.. trn trn.. trrrrtrrn.. trn trn.. trrrrtrrn.. trn trn.. trrrtrrn.. trn trn.. trrrrtrrn.. trn trn.. trrrtrrn.. trn trn.. trrrtrrn.. trn trn.. trrrtrrn.. trn trn.. trrrt t tn

  • A wise man once said, "While we all have lots of bands who influence still... we all rip off Meshuggah"

  • @Gunner112k Love me some Devin Townsend

  • 2:23, yum

  • @heightsofsagarmatha Than part reminds me of the beginning of "Birds of Fire" by the Mahavishnu Orchestra (feat. John McLaughlin

  • Thumb up if you like Meshuggah ;p

  • @Emikropz .I.

  • @Emikropz don't try hard for top comment or anything fag!

  • @MetalRocks329 Chill down, buddy.

  • @Emikropz I don't like Meshuggah.....I love Meshuggah

  • @LordSteeze843 Write my comment, just replace "love" with like, then you get top comment.

  • this is better than DT although they are both comptletly different

  • @Andredias164 Dream Theater is my favorite band

But I like Meshuggah a lot too!

You cant compare them, of course

  • anyone comparing DT to meshuggah is an obvious troll/retard.

  • That's a pretty awesome train.

  • This song sounds like a carrot and a stick of butter in a broken food processor.

  • i got here from ''back in the basket'' youtube horror flick scene. ^-^

  • Best song , in the "Destroy Erase Improve" album .

  • wenn meshuggah spielt hat sich der rhytmus heulend unterm bett verkrochen

  • @tuntegrizzly wieso da is doch ein rhytmus

  • @heiligesMoos aber halt was für einer!

  • THRASH AND JAZZ ,METAL INDUSTRIAL,una obra maestra MESHUGGAH THE MASTERS 29 maggia acubana (musica agreesiva autista) from argentina autarcia.revolucion pacifica? soslo nuestro corazon cambiara al mundo universal e infinito. DIOS ES MI ROCA Y AMOR POR TODO SER VIVIENTE!

  • @RevolucionMax HEY MESHUGGAH ES GROOVE

  • have any of these metal nerds heard of the music called jazz? also all musik that is made is influenced by the musik made before or else there wouldn´t have been any music. i could claim that meshuggah is ripping of some acient music from grecce but thats just stupid. FFS ALL MUSIC IS JUST RIPPING OF OTHER MUSIC.

  • @koookkk you cant reinvent the wheel, but you can add your own bits and pieces to it. to say all music is ripping off other music is a rather childish, nazi, elitist, dumbass thing to say

  • @zatara92 yea that is a good explination it was something like that i ment.

  • @koookkk " also all musik that is made is influenced by the musik made before or else there wouldn´t have been any music."

Then where did the first music come from?

  • @TheOrangeFondler

thats what ive been thinking about a lot. and i simply cant really come up with an answer for that. I mean if I would have lived all alone in the forest without any contact with music or anyone that knows something about music Im not really sure how and why I would start making music.

  • These guys are pussies

  • @heedenkyle No, not at all.

  • To all you idiots arguing who ripped off who: HOW THE FUCK DOES DREAM THEATER SOUND LIKE MESHUGGAH?

  • Comment removed

  • @PrivateSnowballTFC They both sound awsome ?

  • @PrivateSnowballTFC .... who the fuck said that? whoever did needs to be shot

  • @PrivateSnowballTFC They have nothing in common except for the fact that they both have drums, guitar and possibly bass (I honestly can't hear any bass here). While DT is progressive and melodic this is neither. Meshuggah is more extreme and straight forward. Simple angry man stuff 99% of the time, while DT is maybe 1% angry.

  • These guys have totally ripped off Dream Theater. John Petrucci was the first to popularize low-tuned riffing on a seven string guitar and Mike Portnoy was the first metal drummer to play polyrhythms and odd time signatures.

  • @MlKEPORNTOY U JELLY?

  • @MlKEPORNTOY lol, that's so bias that makes me laugh

  • @MlKEPORNTOY So, by your logic, if another band has progressive elements, it means they have completely ripped off dream theater? These bands sound completely different. You're a fucking idiot.

  • @MetalReigns2

Yes, all progressive metal bands are rip offs of Dream Theater. Sorry, but it's true.

  • @MlKEPORNTOY no they don't

  • @MlKEPORNTOY Hmm, that explains the ballad in this song huh? DT is a great band, their approach is of course influenced lots of musicians in the world but, please, which any second of Meshuggah makes you remember Dream Theater? If you listen an arpeggio, does it always mean John Petrucci? In a world where even Kirk Hammett can play guitar solos, everything can remind you everything unfortunately. To sum up, shut up.

  • @MlKEPORNTOY You are a fucking idiot. You can't hear music. Idiot.

  • @MrBlapt

I can hear music, and it sounds like RUSH.

  • @MlKEPORNTOY - it's too bad labrie is there gaying it up. Meshuggah steam rolls over those guys. Just because they were better at making their sound popular doesn't mean you have to get all butthurt

  • @leskop labrie is good, this guy too though

  • @MlKEPORNTOY Good for John. Meshuggah uses 8 string guitars, with the 8th being a bass string. =P

  • @MlKEPORNTOY and Tony Iommi was the first one to downtune ANY guitar, does that mean everyone's ripping off Tony?

  • @MlKEPORNTOY This might blow your mind, but Meshuggah was formed before the release of the first DT album, and DT has claimed to be inspired by Meshuggah, rather than the opposite. And also; Steve Vai was first to use a solidbody seven string guitar, and Korn was the first band to use a downtuned solidbody seven string (tuned to A) on a record.

    Get your facts right!

  • @uppochner Actually Tony Iommi bock in 1971 for Sabbath's master of reality album he used a downtuned guitar and Steve Vai wasn't in a band till 1980

  • @MetalGearSolidNick1 Does it hurt your eyes to read? I was talking about the seven-string guitar, ant not any downtuned guitar.

  • @uppochner Haha oh ok my bad doing homework and commenting on youtube doesn't leave you mind in one place

  • @MlKEPORNTOY Dude , I've seen you trolling everywhere on metal videos. I personally dont give a fuck about nerdy bastard dream theatre with their shitty cheese synths.Do yourself a favour and take some music for being original. SUCCUMB TO THE BRUTALITY OF MESHUGGAH.

  • "brutal? of course not it's fucking fuckidy fuck fuck IM SO AGGRESSIVE"

  • This definitely makes me want to beat people to death. In a good way, though.

  • COMPUTER DVD! - cannot unhear.

  • Amazing song! It never get old to listen to this!

  • Love Meshuggah fucking..............brutal?no it's just fucking interesting fucking cool fucking energizing

  • @extrememetal100 It definately isnt brutal, but it is intense, aggressive and heavy.

  • @MetalReigns2

    Yeah

  • @crazyguitarrist95 No doubt, and they're THE most talented group in the world i'll daresay. But they are just so fckin far into technicality and skill that they've lost a indivisual taste or distinguishing sound. So Meshuggah forever xD

  • @skylord081 i think the lack of any emotional tone is what they were aiming for

  • @Sidepiece2 why would they do that?? lack any emotion ??

  • @skylord081 only reason i could think of would be to emphasize rhythm.... or just sound badass cuz it succeeds in both :D

  • @crazyguitarrist95 but none of that is tastefully done, it's time sig changes for the sake of changes, not artistically.

  • 0:50 dimension of balls

  • Their album cover sheds a truth to our world and it's system.

  • sounds like they're playing light switches

  • 2:22 click for the solo jess.

  • This song is metal in a nutshell.

  • Comment removed

  • This song is light years ahead of its time!

  • @Maniahg People making the mistake of confusing light years with a measure of time.

  • .....

  • @paperpro3223 .....

  • Easily the best metal song in history.

  • i went to the doctor today cuz i wasnt feeling good, he said i had 'deathcore' poisoning, and he prescribed meshuggah. im better now.

  • @monkeypancakes321 Oh dude, you're lucky. I got diagnosed with MCR Cancer. I accidentally got it from overexposure to my little sister's radio. but the doctors say it's operable and that I have a 97% chance for survival if I start metaltherapy right away.

  • I think some of the lyrics are off. Badass song though, that opening is powerful.

  • technical headbanging with compound time signature XD

  • This is the most badass clock alarm ever.

  • @CitiesInTheSky LMAO! Yes! this is so my alarm now!

  • @CitiesInTheSky me in the morning with this song headbanging breakfast

  • @CitiesInTheSky That is actually an awesome idea!

  • @CitiesInTheSky nah this is my lullaby mate (:

  • @CitiesInTheSky It's like an ordinary alarm clock but with polyrhythms

  • @CitiesInTheSky Alva Myrdal by Covenant is also a great alarm clock

  • hahaha, metal nerds having nerd fights. Awesome track though

  • @DaDamuse lol

  • i never knew this was a band i just saw my cousin wearing this shirt and saw this on a side video next to Amon Amarth

  • I bought this fucker on cassette tape back in 97. It rocked me then. It rocks you today!

  • It's just so offbeat... It's art. Pure and simply put.

    It's art!

  • @OfficialTirade Well do you play guitar..To a drummer its not even that complex..It just sounds cool hahah

  • @paperpro3223 Difficulty has nothing to do with it, yes it is complex, but that is because a lot of time and skill went into these songs to make them as offtime (yet on time) as they are. Like I said, this is art.

  • DAT DOUBLE BASS PEDAL. <3

  • @Azereiah Fuck yeah man! :)

  • raised by metal!!!!!!!

  • @heburnll there's no mystery to headbanging to Meshuggah, but there's a hell of a fucking mystery playing it.

  • @MultiNic2010 Agreed. Guitars in 7/8 with drums in 4/4? Tha fuq.

  • @Azereiah if you write guitars in 3/4 in one measure and the next measure is 4/4 it equals 7/8.

  • @KhemikalCyanide i thought it was 7/4

  • @bigbaconburger17 Its the same thing as 7/8

  • @KhemikalCyanide o my bad some people have told me you cant 7/8 like 1 + 2 + 1 2 3 and 7/4 just 1 2 3 4 5 6 7

  • @bigbaconburger17 7/8 just means you're going by 8th notes instead of quarter notes. so the "quarter notes" of the measure would be 8th notes. Make sense?

  • @KhemikalCyanide ight i get it now

  • @KhemikalCyanide 7/4 and 7/8 are not the same thing.

  • @MetalliDeth1223 no but they are very similar.
