Watch the 2001 clip and then rewatch this. He is timing everything perfectly, dropping needles to perfect spots and fading in and out to mimic percussion. It is insane and almost superhuman that anybody can do this. Again, he is mixing this LIVE!!! And it hasn't changed b/c it's a signature piece xD

In regards to the difference Tiesto and other Djs like him beatmix and fade tracks in and out creating a seamless transition between tracks to create a set (typically 1 - 3hrs).... That's all they do... A turntablist beat juggles, scratches, cuts & Transforms beats, sounds & tracks to create a set where they display all their technical abilities (typically 5 - 10mins) Totally different.

yep correct BUT you got one little thing wrong a turntablist can perform for 1 hour or more too. For example i saw kentaro in belgium (summer 2007 @ Dour festival) and he played 1.5 hour straight when he had to leave everyone starting yelling and shit and he came back for an extra 45 minutes so if u calculate its 2hours and 15 minutes of pure mindblowing sounds :)

A turntabilism can perform as long as he (or she) want, Kentaro has made routines longer than 3 hours, just look the set of this guy at solid steel, mixing is a simple thing, it cost less than 3 months to learn how to mix the tempo, fading in&out well...it's an exactly science. but turntabilism? this is so hard & so creative...What Tiesto do in his sets is the easiest thing that you can do at mixing but people don't care about it...Kentaro is a magician with his hands

Haha how the fuck can you compare a DJ like Kentaro to Tiesto? Kentaro obviously has crazy skills and is an amazing DJ, but when it came to making a drop or mix at just the right time to send a crowd into a complete frenzy at a rave, Kentaro would probably struggle to master this art compared to Tiesto who is a master of having this control. 2 completely different genres which both take a lifetime to truly master. I love both Hip Hop and Electronica but its hard to compare the 2 genres like this

i think it all depends on personal taste, im not a massive fan of hip hop in general, i like bits and bobs, but i love watching the djs, and kentaro is a legend, ive got several dvds withhim on and he is so imaginative and innovative, and he covers such a broad variety of musical genre! and as for skill, its all relevant isnt it!? he has his own style that i find to be quite incredible! :-)
