@GJW120 The education system is man made. One point down the line a MAN or woMan said this how the system should be or this is what should teachers teach in schools.
Education is a right, up to a certain age. I don't see what's wrong with that, or what everyone's problem is. You don't get much in life for free, so why should education after a certain level be any different? If you want a better caliber of Wine, you don't get it for free do you? You have to pay the extra money.
And no course is stupid, as long as you're paying for it. Stupid guy.
The problem with this debate is that no one responds to points made by other members. It's just full of people reading of a script. I hate to say it but I've had better debates in the pub.
why should i have to pay for immigrants to get a better education then i got?, i wouldn't mind paying for my brothers and sisters of Britain, but paying for every fucker else, its ridiculous..
Hahaha this stupid little girl is incredibly arrogant. The majority of our public spending is on the welfare state dummy. In 2010-11 we will spend 204 billion on welfare, 104 billion on health, 69 billion on education and 125 billion on other departments. I truly hope socialism dies after this. We need to stop giving people freebies and create more jobs.
Firstly there is and never has been such a thing as 'freebies' Unless you consider being made to work from 9-3 for NO SALARY as 'free' (as claimants were forced to do under New Deal). Secondly there are people such as carers who have served others for years and rely on welfare.
I suggest you educate yourself about welfare instead of believing the distortion and lies of the tabloid press. If you think its 'easy' then you should spend some time in a claimants shoes.
People like you think you know everything about welfare but in reality you know very little. How would you like constantly being vilified as a lazy criminal when you know you have been honest, law-abiding and engaged in the voluntary sector. The gutter press hold up a handful of examples of people who fraud the system or receive excess amounts and then imply it is all claimants; the reality is most claimants receive much, much less and far from being 'free' there are many mandatory obligations.
@sgtmact You sir are an Idiot, they are members of the UKYP for a reason and that is because they know what they are talking about and can speak for the young people of the United Kingdom.
They seem to have accepted the line that getting a university education will automatically lead to employment.
Are there no unemployed graduates in Britain?
If more people went to university because fees were abolished, how could universities cope with the huge increase in human bodies (accomodation, lecture rooms, labs...) and the increased expense? The £3.5 billon would seem chicken feed in comparison!
@JSC1401 Thats not the point, the point is that education should be a right rather than a privilege, and should not be based on how fortunate you have been financially in life. If you support equality then you should support this.

Did that last girl really use HERSELF as a justifying example?
Do students in the UK have access to the works of Milton Friedman? I sincerely hope so.

These students are pathetic they don't think things through before they speak. If they are the parliament of tomorrow, we're doomed!

@JSC1401 Because then it would be based on ability rather than how much money you have.

In any case, the last two years have shown that "Great Expectations" lead mainly to unemployment!

Public education is obligatory until 16 years old as I understand it.
After that age, it is not a "right" but a choice.
Wie, good or bad isin no case a "right".
