  • Lets count how many times he said "iPad" I hate when people try to compare ebook readers to the iPad. It's a totally different ball game. I love my KindleFire.

  • Is it just me or does she sound like the lady on your voicemail?

  • wait do you need a monthlypayment

  • That guy was strange

  • wait what is a cue card?

    ???

  • @MrTroll1123 Why dont people just Google this stuff?

  • @MrTroll1123 hahahah! whata glumpus

  • Why does this Douche use the IPad as an Example for this....the IPad is a hunk of garbage. He should use something more formittable like a Touchpad, a Playbook, or a Galaxy as an example.

  • @YoshiLover2012 The iPad is not a hunk of garbage. Why did it sell very well then? :P

Why compare an ereader to a tablet? Have you ever heard of the Kobo Vox or Kindle Fire?

  • Im getting the nook color for my birthday in october! I can't wait! It's basically like a tablet but cheaper. So excited!

  • Shaaaaaaaameeeeeee!!!!

  • what are flash videos

  • they made sure they didnt mention the kindle 3.

  • @Thewhitenerd the title is called the nook color-e book reader review from comsumer reports nook color not kindle 3

  • I don't understand 'less versatile'. What does it mean?

  • oh jesus, i haven't even saw one yet, and it already glares my eyes

  • I am so getting one of these!

  • @0:16 is that nook flickering, or is that just me?

  • No flash eh? CM7 fixed that >=)

  • there is another nook out after the nook color! i forgot what it was called though!

  • @aza091234 nook simple touch reader. (:

  • Obviously this review is quite out of date, and doesn't mention one of the NC's biggest selling points: it's extremely easy to mod with a huge volunteer developer community and it's virtually impossible to brick, mostly because it boots first from uSD, meaning you could wipe the internal memory clean and still boot to a whole OS or recovery utility from the card slot. It does have flash and an app market stock now, though.

  • CORRECTION: Nook Color DOES get flash videos now

  • can you zoom on pictures that are in the eBooks ? I will start med school next year and I need to zoom on pictures

  • I have one and wow! you can do so much with it! the 1.2 update makes it awesome!

  • i got one :).. amazing

  • I don't understand how the nook color is more without the 3g but I can get 3g without color. To me this is really dumb, how are they charging more for it with out a feature that is on the previous nook??? I might be taking this shit back to the store.

  • wow such a boring video!!!

  • I don't see the point of an e reader with an LCD screen the whole point for me is the e ink and the long bat life if I wanted LCD I'd just drop the extra for a fully functoning tablet rather than a slimmed down version of one although I've seen a few pics of a new colour e ink screen shown at CES and I'm trying to find some extra info on it

  • I got it a few days ago and i am now rooted and the Market is working. There will be a Froyo update soon and hopefully Flash too. Only thing i don't like about it, its heavy.

  • @matrix2004 i talked to the nook rep at barnes and nobel and he told me that they were going to launch an update in a few months that includes a new app store, flash, and a faster processor.

  • im gettin one 4 xmas

  • @Maxieland me 2 im so hype

  • What an annoyingly rehearsed dialog. Where are the cue cards they were using?

  • @nuvigroovi lol

  • Guys, jesus christ it just means that the refresh rate of the monitor is the same as the fps rate. Cameras pick it up because they are quicker than the human eye

  • Doesn't the lit background hurt your eyes? Can you really spend hours reading this???

  • Well I played with the Nook in the store and it does not flash for some reason when recording devices with screens they ten to flicker. If that is a concern for some people go to Barnes $ Nobles and play with it. I got to use it and ask a whole lot of questions in the store. I think that is a whole of questions and all my doubts and concerns were cleared up. I advise all to do the same.

  • Just got my Nook Color yesterday and the screen IS freaking gorgeous! Has the IPS panel that the iPad and iPhone 4 uses. I LOVE my NC! I actually exchanged my iPad for the NC along with the iPod touch 3G and don't regret it one bit! Reading is a lot more fun on the NC especially with magazines and pictures look fantastic. The 7 inch portability is perfect for me. It's the best e-reader on the market currently IMHO

  • @CandysAllMediaReview doesn't it hurt your eyes just like reading on a computer does?

  • I liked how concise they kept this unlike other reviews. They really just got straight to the piont.

  • @Soren300 I AGREE THE OTHER REVIEWS MAKE ME WANT TO PULL MY PUBIC HAIR OUT.

  • Played with one of these today and it is a buy for me. I really like the ipad and it has way more features than the nook but the nook is 1/2 the weight and a third of the price. Also the screen is awesome, once it gets some apps this will be a legit ipad competition. If your not a huge reader dont bother because the os layer throws all the reading material in your face. Also in i think this thing way outclasses the galaxy tab especially in usability.

  • Simply ghetto like the Kindle :(

  • The screen doesn't actually flash like that, its just the way the camera is picking it up.

  • I just got mine in the mail and it is awesome!!! The screen doesn't flash in real life...must be the camera. Resolution is 1024x800. The screen is absolutely gorgeous.

  • That screen looks so shitty. It's flashing, and that to me seems extremely annoying. Why do you need a color screen for a dedicated ebook reader. If you want to do more than read get a tablet computer, simple as that.

  • @jewsmakingmovies lol, the flashing is from the camera recording it. It is capturing the refresh rate which cannot be seen by our eyes most times. The screen does not flash.

  • @jewsmakingmovies Really? You seriously think that's a device issue? You make movies?? It's flashing because the camera recording the segment isn't at the same frame rate... it has nothing to do with the reader. That's film 101 stuff.

I just wish CR would have given a yay or nay on the product rather than just stating the obvious.

  • @jewsmakingmovies The flashing you see is due to the camera being used to film the video, not the nook itself. As far as a color ebook reader? That's a personal choice, but I can tell you that for the price, this device is hard to pass up. Once the Android hack community gets a hold of it, it will be a pretty trick little tablet.

  • @jewsmakingmovies

Its so much more than just an ereader. If you want something that is a dedicated ereader then get a regular nook. The screen is just as responsive as the ipad. Actually the best way to actually view this product is the ipads little brother.

  • @jewsmakingmovies Well the screen's refresh rate and the camera FPS are out of sync so it makes the screen looks like it's flickering. I have seen it in the store and I can assure you that the screen is quite beautiful

  • CR, please ditch her. She is annoying

  • crisper in not the right word you need to say more crisp lol
