Il me manque.

  • Is the accompaniment a computer composition ??

  • The accompaniment is a Handel flute sonata (from well before the age of computers :-). The video isn't a demonstration of computer composition - rather it's a demo of a computer listening to and accompanying a live performer, with both the live performer and computer following a score (i.e. a predefined composition).

  • Thanks. I was trying to figure out whether Dr. Barry Vercoe dabbled in computer-based compositions

  • Exceptional document! Thanks!

  • The father of CSOUND,the most incredible language for the digital musical synthesis.

  • Does CSOUND compose music ?

  • Yes...also.....Csound is a power language for synthesis,sampling,Dsp,etc....is open source for win,mac,linux

  • Sorry to bother you again, but what genre of music does it compose ? Just classical music ? Or can its utility be extended to other genres, i.e. pop or rock music ? I checked Barry Vercoe's website, and there were no examples of classical pieces composed with CSound

  • awesome!

i mean that was 1984. even if someone showed me that on a 8core machine i would be stunned. what hardwar do they use? some vc20 or so

  • I love the old ways, when charisma was not something you'd be required to have.

It's also awesome that hé is playing together with a computer. There should be entire orchestras with only computers doing something together (are there?)

  • Great, never seen any videos from the IRCAM. Thanks for this.
