two of the worst fast foods available.fried chicken is the 2nd most fattening food next to pesi/coke with it's corn syrup.
folks sugar is cane susgar. corn syrup is corn syrup and it's main purpose is fattening livestock such as hogs, cattle. corn syrup is not sugsar regardless of how many advertisements they make to the contary
KFC thinks they're slick, they don't give a fuck about diabetes they know Mrs.Obama is getting on them about...fat kids and they are NOT gonna go skinless or all canola oil on us. They also know people want be so quick to buy that shit,it's their way of saying "Hey we tried!". Just get a donation box.
What I bunch of idiots. America this is why you’re stupid, not why you‘re fat. Don’t they have a researcher, juvenile diabetes is another name for type 1 diabetes the autoimmune form of diabetes. Sugar and soda do not cause type 1. The jug is meant to be shared, not consumed by one person. It’s a tiny one of promotion done by someone with a link to type 1 diabetes. That information could have been found with google in a matter of minutes.
@2lucmat I HIGHLY suggest you do not do any research as to how much the CDC has already wasted, and continues to waste, in order to study whether or not there is any necessary link between poor diet/lack of exercise and poor health. If these people studied the reality right in front of their noses, they wouldn't have jobs. It's really that simple.
@bunkmasterflex Quite the opposite. I'm pointing out that there are numerous interests in this country that are invested in just that: studying the "possible" links between dumbass health choices and poor health outcomes. All they do is perpetuate the liberal line that health is purely because of environment, not personal choice, etc. It's a joke.
JDRF supports research for type 1 diabetes, an autoimmune disease . It is a
misconception that type 1 is caused by obesity or eating
too much junk food or sweets. This promotion was done by one KFC store whose owner has a child with type 1, it is not put on by the JDRF. As I also pointed out above, the soda is meant to be shared, not consumed by one person.
It wasn't a JDRF promo. It was 1 store, whose owner's child
has diabetes, they were just trying to raise funds to assist with a cure .
@TheBeen88 I knew this just didnt seem right, checked comments because I knew someone would explain the reasoning. Although I do agree with Cenk on the half gallon of pepsi, that is just a bit much and its unhealthy, but from what you describe, seems like an honest oversight.
@TheBeen88 That was informative. However, I imagine it's a bad idea if you have Type 1 diabetes to drink a lot of soda. You don't want to spike your blood sugar.
@TheBeen88 WRONG!!!!!! Obesity, particularly truncal obesity, is closely correlated to the prevalence of diabetes and cardiovascular disease. Plasma leptin, tumour necrosis factor-α and non-esterified fatty acid levels are all elevated in obesity and play a role in causing insulin resistance. Diabetic glycaemic control and insulin resistance improve with reductions in obesity,
That is HILARIOUS - a half gallon soda for the cause against juvenile diabetes when soda is one of the main causes? xD Like... it boggles my mind how stupid that is.
Sometimes, capitalism and philanthropy are huge rivals. KFC would rather be a scammer than a helper. Why couldn't they donate a certain percentage of all meal purchase to the diabetes foundation?
Notice how it says "Help us find a cure!", they don't give two shits about people getting diabetes. They want that cure so they can start super sizing everything.
This reminds me of Mike's Hard Lemonade teaming up to prevent breast cancer by having the "buy Mike's lemonade and the money goes to cancer research." Pretty much a bad move to promote a product that causes a problem to help prevent the problem.
@JamesAnderyourstruly Oh right, not only does the US have the gallon instead of liters, but it's different from the UK gallon. Always get the ounces etc mixed up due to the ambiguity of it all. Liters & meters = simple math.
KFC makes their chicken with an extra dose of growth hormone. Great way to get cancer. Avoid that shit. Last time I had it (years ago as I am vegan now) it gave me debilitating diarrhea. That said, ANYTHING is better than Church's chicken which doses you with a weaks worth of heart stopping transfat oil per meal.
If I drank that half gallon I would be pissing for a month!! better yet I would settle on my intake of pepsi for a year if I drank all that!! I am better off with a 12 FL OZ can of Sierra Mist than a half gallon of pepsi.. I can already feel like I need to piss already just talking about it.
Mr Uygur: we need you! So, get a diet that's balanced. Reassure us that you've fixed it. You need energy to work, there is no doubt, but, I hope Chocolate Cream Pie isn't on the menu every day! There are so many ways to get energy from food and many of them are not high-risk strategies. You can gorge on some foods: fish, chicken, pulses, some rice and potato. The side portions can include sweet corn (maize), celery, artichokes, beetroot, cabbage. Add yoghurt / vinigrette? Not really repulsive!
I actually don't have a problem with it because it's up to people to decide whether or not they want to be healthy. Nobody is being forced to drink that insane amount of Pepsi.
The excess that exists in the US is absolutely disgusting. 1/2 a GALLON of Pepsi? Not only is that totally ridiculous, even without the diabetes angle, it's disgusting that some people think nothing of it while there are people starving or dying from tainted water sources in many countries. It's fucking insane. These multinational corps have got a shit load to answer for. When I run the world they'll be the first up against the wall.
cause you can get a half a gallon of diet soda which equals no sugar (no calories) just because the sign happens to show regular pepsi doesn't mean you have to get the sugar load.....love TYT but sometimes their just digging for stories.....
@krebul I doubt it, I don't drink soda or suger water as I call it, and I don't drink aspartame. I drink water and blended fruit juices that's about it.
I do agree though, NO ONE EVER needs half a gallon of Soda. Period. A can or two of soda after a vicious workout is actually good for you (I prefer dextrose in my protein shake however), but I could not work out hard enough for long enough to warrant drinking 800 calories of sugar.
@krebul According to a MuscleTech Water calculator(google it) someone like me, 240lbs that does a low intensity 30ish minutes daily exercise, I should drink roughly 164 oz. of water daily. With 1 Gallon of fluid equaling 128 oz. that means I should be drinking about 2 and a thirds of these bad boys daily.....of water
I think instead of the focus being on Pepsi Co., and KFC, it should be on the JDRF.
Cause KFC isn't an organization set out to combat diabetes but the JDRF is, so why are they allowing this promotion?!? IMO it's much worse that the JDRF would allow this promotion, than that KFC would.
That's about the biggest size of a bottle of soda you can buy in supermarkets in Sweden. The makers of this campaign had to have done it for teh lulz.
@videogamer002 JUST 2 liters? What the fuck, I believe the biggest cup of soda you can get at fastfood restaurants here in the Netherlands are 0.5 liter. America is ridiculous, NOBODY would get half a gallon of pepsi here in the Netherlands I'm sure.
uhhhh...so to help out others with diabetes i need to drink pepsi which could give me diabetes instead......the need of the many outway the need of the few? idk
Did it ever occur to anyone that the half gallon of pepsi is intented for more that one person? OF COURSEEEEEE! That being said its still insanely ironic and stupid to buy Pepsi to fight diabetes.
Simple as this... bad foods= cheap good foods = expensive.
You can buy a meal at a fast food joint for 4 bucks vs buying just a piece of meat for 4 bucks with this economy what ya think people are choosing. And people bitch about weight issues... lame.
At 0:50, I loled when i was living in France and about 10 years old this was already what we were saying about America. Want a burger fatty? You gonna clog your arteries and fucking die young. I am now 25 and the Food and Drug Administration still hasnt moved on the issue. Imagine living in a healthy country, how much cash saved on health and available for, well, real diseases, or even poverty. Education is fine if we take off the middle man. Same thing with everything else max-profit-oriented.
@01101111omg Yes i have been there many times, most of the people are overweight, but i am from canada, i dont even drink pop may be once in a bluemoon but this is insanity.
KFC wanting to fight diabetes... aha... ahahah.... AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
This is the same company with menu items with 100g+ white carbohydrates.. combined with pepsi = massive spike in blood sugar and subsequent crash, increased insulin resistance, repeated enough times leads to diabetes. Fast food is a big part of the reason 75% of the country is overweight.. and they're making billions off fat people buying their greasy crap, so they can't honestly pretend they want that to change.
those crazy americans, it's not enough that they use outdated mussurment. they have to change them so they are differant even from what those who use the imperial system are use to.
Anybody who drinks any amount of pop on a regular basis will get diabetes no question. Pop is SUGAR WATER. I cannot believe these two have joined forces. Lol what a joke~
no one is forcing you to buy that shit, people buy that shit because they want. I hate when people complain about this companies making america fat and unhealthy is your choice as a person to eat that crap no one is forcing you. If you are fat is your fault and if you get diabetes is not KFC or McDonald fault is your responsibility to be healthy.
Type-1 diabetes, which is what the JDREF donates money to research, is not caused by caloric or sugar intake. It's a pancreatic problem that's totally unrelated to type-2.
DERP.
Now if a type-2 diabetes charity were doing this, that shit would be funny.
If the soda is meant to be shared, then why does it come in a regular cup that one person would drink from? Would a family share the straw too or just each get their own and drink from it like a giant Pepsi trough? And if they are just going to pour it into smaller cups, why not just sell 2 liters? Pretty sure that monstrosity is for one person.
@fightforyourrights9: It's a comprehensive design. Theres a little handle thing that makes it look like a bucket to go with the bucket of chicken and yeah you pour it. It's just a design they've always had and the soda buckets are always listed as family sized so it isn't for one unless you want it to be.
It's ONLY 64 oz. - 32 OZ (A QUARTER GALLON) drinks just don't do it anymore. *** And they tax smokers for "our" ingestion of a harmful substance without seeing any hypocrisy. At least we have the "addiction" argument. Cenk, your comments?
This is for the family meal, I'm sure. KFC has a lot of family meals made to serve 5+ people. Nothing wrong with this promo. I'm skinny, but I drink absurd amounts of soda and do not have diabetes (either type) or out of control weight gain issues, so maybe people like me can drink all the Pepsi and help out those who can't drink as much because they do have these issues.
While I admire KFC for quietly murdering a generation of schwoogies with high cholesterol, sodium, and saturated fat, their chicken still tastes like shit.
I don't even want to drink a small soda, much less that giant thing [though I understand it's supposed to be shared]. But I think it's counterproductive to the foundation, not only for the obvious reason, but now I wouldn't even want to donate to that cause since I know that they are being promoted with this giant pepsi.
@slenderlatina Good luck getting your calcium. Milk is the nectar of human life. What came out of your mothers breasts when you were a baby? Water? Maybe you should by proper milk instead of cheap generic brants that are full of artificial crap and you wouldn't hate milk so much.
Try some water on your meusli and see how you like it.
@slenderlatina there's nothing significant in milk today than there was a thousand years ago. But theres a fuck ton more of it, so you better appreciate
I know people who drink a 2 litter bottle of coke a day, so that half gallon jug of pepsi isnt a surprise to me. Of course, those people are fat asses on the brink of getting diabetes, but its still possible to drink one.

@JunkeeDrugee To even say MOST of the people proves you have never been here...
The obesity rate in New York State is 10%. But I suppose your right corporations only care about profit.

Thats like McDonalds fighting against obesity by selling bigmacs.

Anybody who drinks any amount of pop on a regular basis will get diabetes no question. Pop is SUGAR WATER. I cannot believe these two have joined forces. Lol what a joke~

I think the money goes to type 1 diabetes research. Not the kind you get from soda (type 2). Still it's incredibly ironic and hypocritical.

yeah you should take a few glasses from home and treet it like one of those jugs of bear you buy at a bar.
celestialsalamander 8 months ago
no one is forcing you to buy that shit, people buy that shit because they want.

Pretty sure that monstrosity is for one person.
fightforyourrights9 8 months ago
@fightforyourrights9: It's a comprehensive design. Theres a little handle thing that makes it look like a bucket to go with the bucket of chicken and yeah you pour it. It's just a design they've always had and the soda buckets are always listed as family sized so it isn't for one unless you want it to be.

It's ONLY 64 oz. - 32 OZ (A QUARTER GALLON) drinks just don't do it anymore. *** And they tax smokers for "our" ingestion of a harmful substance without seeing any hypocrisy. At least we have the "addiction" argument. Cenk, your comments?
kjdayton 8 months ago
This is for the family meal, I'm sure. KFC has a lot of family meals made to serve 5+ people. Nothing wrong with this promo. I'm skinny, but I drink absurd amounts of soda and do not have diabetes (either type) or out of control weight gain issues, so maybe people like me can drink all the Pepsi and help out those who can't drink as much because they do have these issues.

While I admire KFC for quietly murdering a generation of schwoogies with high cholesterol, sodium, and saturated fat, their chicken still tastes like shit.
SwampThizzle 8 months ago
I don't even want to drink a small soda, much less that giant thing [though I understand it's supposed to be shared]. But I think it's counterproductive to the foundation, not only for the obvious reason, but now I wouldn't even want to donate to that cause since I know that they are being promoted with this giant pepsi.
lindafay1 8 months ago
Water/Milk... That's pretty much the only thing you need to drink... (Fruit Juice = Full of sugar, Vegetable Juice = Full of sodium)...
Not only those 2 are better, but they are way cheaper !

SupermarketsRevil 8 months ago
@slenderlatina there's nothing significant in milk today than there was a thousand years ago. But theres a fuck ton more of it, so you better appreciate

I know people who drink a 2 litter bottle of coke a day, so that half gallon jug of pepsi isnt a surprise to me. Of course, those people are fat asses on the brink of getting diabetes, but its still possible to drink one.
