Igot my ipod touch 2 gen about 3 years ago, it broke and im using iphone 4. I have been using ios for about 4 years and i like it. I got samsung galaxy tab 10.1 last year and it was hard for me to get used to android interfaces and such. Now, i really like android os. But i want samsung to release new ice cream sandwich update soon. I think both os are very good. But android os is quickly developing, so around late 2012 android can become the most used mobile os on the planet.

Also jailbreaking brinks iphone closer to android but still far away from androids capabilities. The newb users can't benefit from android your right. One thing I like about Android, is the ability to put different ROMS on my phone. I can put on Cyanogenmod, MIUI, or ROMs based on stock builds, in addition to the stock OS. Even when the manufacturer stops supporting the phone, the community will build a ROM with the latest OS for that phone.I guess on an iPhone you are stuck to only 1 ROM which is what Apple gives you, and that's only if you have a 3GS, 4, or 4S (sorry 3G, 2, and 1). Even the community CAN'T build an IOS ROM for old phones.

@butterblader The Apple phone is indeed very fragile, I received one as a gift and had to baby it because if it breaks it will hurt the gifter's feelings. I agree with you that the Samsung is tougher in that respect. I saw a drop test and the Samsung survived. Apple phone on the other hand is not so lucky. Android's voice command is more superior than Apple's cheap Siri, it was so annoying I turned it off.

Igot my ipod touch 2 gen about 3 years ago, it broke and im using iphone 4. I have been using ios for about 4 years and i like it. I got samsung galaxy tab 10.1 last year and it was hard for me to get used to android interfaces and such. Now, i really like android os. But i want samsung to release new ice cream sandwich update soon. I think both os are very good. But android os is quickly developing, so around late 2012 android can become the most used mobile os on the planet.

Also jailbreaking brinks iphone closer to android but still far away from androids capabilities. The newb users can't benefit from android your right. One thing I like about Android, is the ability to put different ROMS on my phone. I can put on Cyanogenmod, MIUI, or ROMs based on stock builds, in addition to the stock OS. Even when the manufacturer stops supporting the phone, the community will build a ROM with the latest OS for that phone.I guess on an iPhone you are stuck to only 1 ROM which is what Apple gives you, and that's only if you have a 3GS, 4, or 4S (sorry 3G, 2, and 1). Even the community CAN'T build an IOS ROM for old phones.

The iPhone 3GS, released in June 2009, can run the latest version of iOS (iOS 5). Name one Android phone that gets upgraded to ICS 2+ years into its life (hint: there aren't any).

If it allows you to do it, then there will be no NEW cellphone to sell with THE LATEST version of Android. That's why they keep saying "unsupported hardware" (poor excuse) ¬¬ ; So Android's 'support' for Custom ROMs comes into the scene and makes our life easier. Me and my sister got the same plan except I got the s2 and she got the 4s. She now has to pay an extra $20 a month for the phone as well as paying for apps that I get free.

@butterblader The Apple phone is indeed very fragile, I received one as a gift and had to baby it because if it breaks it will hurt the gifter's feelings. I agree with you that the Samsung is tougher in that respect. I saw a drop test and the Samsung survived. Apple phone on the other hand is not so lucky. Android's voice command is more superior than Apple's cheap Siri, it was so annoying I turned it off.

Once the iPhone was unveiled, they had scrapped the Android design they had been working on at the time to resemble the iPhone.

Android is powering many different form factors, sliders, barrens, flip-phones and also blackberry-like phones. Considering HTC made barrens long before Apple, I am in no way surprised they kept doing so.

Specifications can't help very much if your device has a shitty OS. Also, Apple's PC marketshare is increasing, while the others are falling. Most software that runs on Windows also runs on the Mac. Apps such as Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, Autodesk Maya and AutoCAD, BitTorrent, and a whole lot of other ones too.
