Awesome! Thanks for posting ... and finding those two screws hidden under the hard drive. HP sure doesn't make replace the original POS power supply easy!
i dont know anything about computers.... BUT can someone tell me what power suppy i can use to put into my slimeline? i have s3860a model .. i know someone who can install it just dont know what exact power supply box to get
@Maalosi if they know how to install it . they should know what power supply to buy if they dont then they probably don't know how to install it . just sayin
Thank you for posting this video. I just discovered that my office computer an HP Slimline (bought barely a year ago and not extensively used) will not start due to a power supply problem. I just spent 20 minutes on the phone with the HP Hardware tech support person who quoted me a price of $330 and 2 weeks time to fix the problem. After watching this video, I know better than to waste my money. I'm just going to buy another computer and it won't be an HP!!
! fucking hate this pc! uaghhhhhhhhhhhhhh fucking shitty crapy god damn fukcing liltiel crap[u fuckign pieace oh shit hp laggy fucking cant play no fucking game ahhhh fucking shitty pc i fucking ahte u slimline mgo fuckiugn hgell!!!!!!!! SORYY I AM SO MAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@Darbaz009 Dump the damn thing or upgrade then and stop whining. I just upgraded a new s5213w ( $ 129 deal ) into a fairly stable, decent " middle of the road " gaming rig for less than $300 ! CPU, GPU, PSU and cooling !
@Darbaz009 bro there's a reason it can't play games it designed for browsing movies Home theatre etc. should of thought about it before you bought it in the first place
Thanks. Now that I've removed and replaced the PSU, can my new PSU be bad too? When I plug in the power cord, the green light on the PSU occasionally comes on for just a second (if that long) as I am inserting the power cord and I've tried 3 cords.
Hi I need your help, my HP Slimline pavilion s3507c one day just stop working, It turns on, but is not sending information to the monitor, because i don't get anything. I already try changin the power cable and the cable connecting the monitor to computer but nothing....By any chance do you know what might be happening here :( first time it happens ???
Hi Sylvia. Sounds like your computer's motherboard simply died. Nothing to do with the powersupply, since it still powers up. If your computer is still under warranty, contact HP support. If it's not, well, I wouldn't advise fixing it, since HP tends to put insane prices on their replacement parts. It's their way to get people buy new computers, instead of fixing them.
i need help if anyone know this issue..,my power supply get hot as hell after an hour of power up my tower but my fan spin.idk whats wrong with it.please respond to me if anyone know how to fix this issue.thanks
Sorry if this has been said, but it's an incredibly bad idea to reuse the heat paste like you did there. Any time you take the heatsink off like that you should reapply new paste.
i have a question, my computer is not a hp slimline, but im pretty sure the connecters are the same. so when ur pulling the original power supply out of the motherboard, do you just pull on it? or do i have to press on it. i have to be careful i dont break it x.x
To remove DVD drive, you must unscrew two screws on the right side of the DVD drive (silver/black). Follow by pushing the clip on the left side. Hold the clip and slide the drive out.
You don't need to remove heatsink at all (especially if you don't have thermopaste). You could've just remove the CPU fan (front/4 screws) and motherboard (4 screws). Move the mobo to have room for PSU.
The thing this video is referring to is HP Pocket drive bay.
This is helpful, I will be replacing my stock 240W from Slimline S5268. I noticed you didn't add any thermal paste as you returned the cpu's fan, is that okay?
There is a huge thread on these computers over at the [H]ard|Forum. Feel free to stop by if you ever have a problem with your slimline. They are amazing little machines!
dear sir, do you know if it's possible to add another fan into the HP Slimline? I've heard that the new models have 2 fans and it'd be cool if it's possible to install extra fan on the old models. :)
good video, i ended up just buying a regular sized case for the PSU and a full size video card, but for people that don't game on their computers this is a great computer
Whoa! You're able to use both regular sized PSU and video card, without any problems in the HP slimline?
I'm just shocked, as I've spent days looking up the right low-profile vid card and PSU combination- that's compatible. Can you please post the HP model and specs for vid card and PSU? I originally wanted to upgrade to the "GeForce GT220 1GB PCI-E Video Card" but then figured only low-profiles would work in a slimline. But if regular sizes work, it'd be much easier. Thanks
what's that spray your using to clean the parts?

@jjawin118 lmfao i tired!
1-power supply is 180w, even the lowst graphic card need 300w
2- obv the cpu need more power... to get a new good cpu i need to upgrade the mother board...
3- a good cpu will need a good case so it cools faster and dont get over heated...but slimline is like a 2month year old baby.
3- so i am getting a new pc that is worth £800. with core i5 and GTX 560 with coolmaster case...
4- advice to new people never try to upgrade this bullshit.
5- gg
