  • CICTRIZ, Mama---Listen Tita is a very commen name for PuertoRicans to use as a nick name, But Tia is the correct way in Spanish on how to say AUNT...Like for example: Tia Nani, Titi Maria, you can use the Tia and the titi. and what Mexicans have to do with Philipino??? thats not in the History at all thats a misconcept. Trust me, The Spanish Conquistadores were and are not MEXICANS, they were from Spains, so mexico don't have or play not parts at all in the Filipines trust me.

  • Cicatrizx i agree with u in all u videos.....u are smart definitivo.....u videos are ugly but total truly...if u name of u chanel (cicatrizx) means the same meaning of spanish meaning (sicatris) entonces yo tambien soy sicatris. saluduos desde GDL city.

  • YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1111

  • wasn't American. :)

  • Ah, the "academic Cicat" here...hmmm. I feel ya, girl lol ;-) I grew up in the DC area (the U.S.) and I feel more American than Filipino. (left when I was only 10) I can barely speak a full sentence in Tagalog without stuttering. You sound like you were raised in in the U.S, too....I can't place the accent, though...ummm...Chicago?

  • @nazreyes

    The accent? It's from Dubai, U.A.E. :D

  • @cicatrizx hmmm...Dubai must have some great American schools LOL

  • i think that philiphin people should speak ..if is posible...the spanish, the english and the national tagalop...this increases the posibilities of people from philiphines take better opportunities in any topic of the life..i had friend from your country that had skills in these three languajes.

  • Cicatrizx,

I think you're a very clever girl, and your videos are very interesting and uplifting. Congrats and carry on with your enthusiasm.

Saludos desde un rincon de Espana

  • canto del viajero

  • Your story is very interesting. It makes me want to learn the Tagalog language even more now.

Hoping things are better for ya now in 2009.

  • you should not feel like you're a stranger in the philippines bec you are lucky compared to others., like my cousins from UK, they had to really exert a lot of effort for fitting in bec of their color., well, that was BEFORE though.,

i know this video is waaaaayyy too old for the comment but i just want to speak my mind.,

    take care

  • i think you should just practice,. talk to filis more.,

it'll reallly help.,like me, i learned spanish by just talking to my spanish and mexican friends., now i can say that my spanish has improved or yo pienso que mi espaniol ha mejorado mucho., :D.,

thing is if you really really want to learn, do something., research, internet.,

  • im a chicano when i heard canto del viajero it hit me .born in usa raised in early youth in mexico .entered u.s. school not knowing a word of english .now i know english like a native.know spanish fairly well.but at times i feel like an expat too.when i visited mexico i was a gringo to many of them .often enough back here im a mexican to many also. expat isnt bad though

  • cielito lindo!!

  • Dude I'm Guatemalan American, born in South Korea and raised for 13 years in the UAE. So where am I from? I go to uni in CA now and I feel like a frikken expact in my own country. So, I guess I know how you feel in a way...

  • Hablas espanol muy bien, mi vida. He visto tus otros videos en donde hablas un poquito aqui y alla. Flawless English. I definitely identify. Congratulations on your entertaining videos. Do you watch Christine?

  • This is a rather late comment, but I just came across your page while looking up for some instructional tagalog videos on youtube.

I've never heard of the term "expat" before, but I can definitely identify with the whole language and culture barriers associated with it. Personally, it's been one of the most mind blowing things for me. And I agree, I think there should be more talk about these issues. It's a relief to know other people who struggle through it.

  • i hated florante at laura!!!!

not because i dont understand it...but because the story is soo boring....

  • i agree with you.. hahahah

  • Ditto... such a boring old book that every high school Filipino student must go through. Waaaaaaaahhh!

  • this song captures much of the feeling about being a stranger in your own country

  • Your Spanish is really not that bad, except it's just Spaniard spanish.

I Nominate myself to be Filipino without being ethnically Filipino. This is because I am American born, but Half Mexican and Half Chinese with Chinese relatives in the Philippines. Your English is really good you don't have a Filipino accent or anything. You sound American... so you speak Arabic too?

    Congratulate me!

  • people who do speak fluent tagalog don't even really understand that book (florante at laura) themselves! well at least, i know i don't. and as far imparting an expat experience - i'm sorry i have none to impart. i was 14 when i left the mother land and had never gone back since (i am now 32 btw).

but remember: people there will judge you for being filipino like them but not sharing their common ideologies (and u probably already knew this) - but u just gotta let it roll off ur back.

  • I am a Filipino also. I was raised in the US for almost all of my life, and i have to go back to Manila for 43 days. I cant even speak Tagalog! Email me and give me a few pointers! i would love to talk to you about your experiance.
