Whoa, easy there. You seriously need to chill. I like my Mac, but I never said I hated PC's - can't people ever take a joke? And the idea that Macs cost more than PC's is a myth nowadays - compare prices - especially when you factor in that Macs score way higher than major PC manufacturers in customer satisfaction, and more importantly, hardware reliability - just check PC Mag.

Um... No. PCs still cost less than comparable Macs, especially if you build the PC yourself. My dell cost less than a thousand dollars and I can GUARANTEE that it runs fast than a Mac that costs over a grand.

Yes, it's cheaper just for the machine, but it wouldn't be cheaper if you threw in a built-in camera (not external, but built-in and still w/ 3+ megapixels, a microphone, and the photo and chat software to use it).

Then there's the reliabilitly - you pay for that too. Macs have outscored all other PC makes in reliability of not just software, but hardware, year after year in tests by PC Magazine. Runs faster? Ever seen a modded Mac? It's just as fast as any gaming PC, but it can actually use all of it's intallable RAM...

If you factor in the fact that Macs have higher reliability ratings for not just software, but importantly here, hardware, than all other manufacturers by quite a bit, then it makes the price more proportionately acceptable - let me clarify - they have good bang for the buck, but the buck is still a little high.

Sorry - I don't mean to come off as a troll - I hate to make a quadpost, but I'd think I should clarify something. I like my Mac, but I'm not an Apple Factory diehard - I'm not opposed to modding Macs. As a matter of fact, it is often possible to get better performance and a lower overall price if you buy the Mac but get things like big amounts of RAM and the processor aftermarket, for example.

That's if you can afford one, period. And if you want a gaming comp? You're out of luck. Same if you just want something for browsing. And once again, if you just don't have the money for one, and you'd like a good multimedia comp, your BEST bet is buying parts cheap and building it yourself. Macs are good if you want an all-in-one or something that looks good, but otherwise...

That is more or less true. Used Macs though can be bought at quite a good deal (albeit not necessarily from Apple) - even recent ones. The Mac Mini would do well in the "bargain" department if it actually came with stuff. But hey, the Mac mini is like the iPod nano - it's the retarded little brother to the rest of it's family of machines. Yeah, Macs do come with all sorts of goodies most PC's don't even have as options, but I will admit, it is at quite a cost.

And about that 19k machine - you do realize you can run a network from that, just like on a server, right? That's what makes it special - it's like buying a server and a Tower machine all-in-one. If you tried to buy such a machine from another manufacturer, you'd have to get a tower machine and a server separately - and the tab would easily be just as much.

About the $18-19k machine - it's about the same price as a comparable machine(s). You can run a server and use it as a personal machine simultaneously. To build a custom PC that could do that or buy a Tower configuration PC and a server from a major manufacturer would cost roughly the same amount. And before you get carried away, maybe you should check the hardware reliability scores of Macs vs. Dells on PC Magazine's website - it's not even close buddy, not even close...
