  • my apologies to cutlerylover . at the time of my posting i realized i had made a mistake. i realize that cutlerylover is well educated on knives and i certainly meant no disrespect . .

  • Just found out about knife art on here. My mind is blown, i've never seen such high quality knives.

  • @Smokeandfireeater612 The smf has 4 body screws, the sng has 3

  • Sorry I have a sng and it looks different than yours . Great video's

  • That's actually a striver smf

  • @Smokeandfireeater612 no its a strider SNG

  • @Smokeandfireeater612

Dude do your research before you just go correcting people

For one thing the back-spacer on an sng is shorter than on an smf

Don't you think Jeff would know what knife he bought?

  • hey jeff do you still have your sng? even if you don't you still love it? i really dig it

  • i saw one of the strider knives in a video a year or two ago. i thought what a sexy knife im goin to get me one of those for my collection.......... then i saw the price 420£ uk probably equivalent to about 600-800$

    kind regards

  • Holy crap its alot of Sebenza/Strider conflict on this videro Jeff :P what have you done!

All i can say is sure the Sebenza can do pretty much everything a Strider can.. BUT the Sebbie got a thinner point witch you really have to take in mind! but shes a rugged cutter belive me! Altho i favor the Striders! tbh i wasent impressed at all with striders untill i had my SnG in hand! i have 1 Sebbie and 3 Striders atm. only thing you loose with a Strider is the sweet cutting abillity that the sebb has

  • is there a way to switch the G10 handle from one SnG to another SnG?

  • @mrlaserguy2 Strider say no. you could try it may work but not 100% of the time. all striders are pretty much unique so the holes might not match up on all scales! altho if its for looks try and see but if its broken send it in and they will take care of you.. dont see why you would wanna change scales.. hope the information helped tho

  • @bluegrodan ok thanks, i wanted to see if i could switch it out with a gunner grip

  • Thats one ugly-ass Knife for 300+ bucks.

  • @xxbryan715xx no knife is ever designed for batoning but that's how you test the craftsmanship and toughness of a knife by beating the shit out of it and seeing if it breaks and I've used my recon 1 to cut down branches as well. My point is if you pay that much for a sebenza why can't you expect it to be tough like a cheaper knife?

  • @GunShotWound308 that makes no sense at all....its not meant to do it so I do it to test for quality? Do you dunk your zxell phone in water to be sure it can handle it? even though its not made to do that? do you top our your car in full rev for minutes on end just to be sure it can do it? nope...I get what your saying but disgree with the logic, I use my knives as knives are meant to be used and dont have any problems or am ever dissapointed it cant do what its not meant to do

  • @GunShotWound308 that being said a sebenza can baton through a tree branch just the same as any other knife, and you know what so can a $2 knife...so whats your point?

  • @cutlerylover jeff I have nothing more to say on the matter do it or not it's up to you.

  • @GunShotWound308 show me your strider going through a log and challenge me in a video and post it

  • @GunShotWound308 your a fuckin retard..... a sabenza is not designed for batoning and neither is a strider. there pocket knives not woods man tools...... if you want i will put a 50 dollar recon 1 up aginst your knife and make you look stupid...... i was in a jam and cut some branches with a recon 1 today

  • @cutlerylover ok prove me wrong but I've dealt with both the strider and the sebenza so do not tell me I don't know what I'm talking about. Off topic though I really do like your vids jeff I just disagree with you on this subject.

  • @GunShotWound308 Ill prove you wrong just make it worth it for me, make a bet and Ill hold you to it publicly, do you feel confident in what your saying or dont you?

  • @cutlerylover just do it. split a log with your sebenza no gimmicks no bullshit just do it. And I don't want your channel. Why would I want your channel? Just do it because I'm a viewer who challenged you. I just want you to cut the bullshit and do it already.

  • @GunShotWound308 lolk oH im going to do it and specifically mention your name and how you gave me shit about it, I just want to prove you dont know what your talking about and that your talking about knives and how they perform based on assumption and what you read, and that you dont own them, I can say ferraris suck all day long but until I drive one I dont know what Im talking about and neither do you

  • @cutlerylover tell you what jeff how about you man up take your sebenza and split a log. If your so confident why not stop all the bullshit and just do it? Stop making excuses grow a pair and stand up to a chalenge.

  • @GunShotWound308 how could you talk about something you know nothing about? Im offering you my entire channel to prove you wrong and you cant accept that? if your right you would love to take the channel wouldn't you? It can be all yours to do whatever you want with it, If your game Ill make a video for everyone to see, let me know you need to man up and out your reputation on the line, are you in or are you a pussy like I think you are?

  • @cutlerylover jeff I think your mad because the sebenza wouldn't do well at something "hard" and while not many people would use their folder to split logs its still nice having that confidence in your knife. Also your profanity doesn't help so show me the sebenza splitting logs like my recon 1 and stop avoiding it.

  • @GunShotWound308 sure admit your wrong and dont know hat your talking about 1st ;) Wait Ill make you a bet if I cna split a log with my sebenza you send me your strider, if I cant Ill give you my channel, deal?

  • @cutlerylover why not prove me wrong then? Split wood with the sebenza. Nutnfancy did it with a cold steel recon 1 tanto and I own that bad boy and for a fraction of the cost of either of a sebenza I got a tougher knife so why not prove me wrong if I am so wrong? Split a log with the sebenza.

  • @GunShotWound308 1st of all anyone who used a folder to split wood IS the tool, and doesnt need one, secondly you wont make your own videos because you cant, admit your an ignoramous spewing stupid shit you dont know about and Ill make a video splitting wood with the sebenza for you just to rub it in your face, but I want to hear it 1st " I dont know what Im talking about, so I dont know why I commented on your video Jeff"

  • @cutlerylover I'm no fanboy and for you to say that is extremely rude. So you want video proof that the sng is tougher than the sebenza? Type in sebenza hard use in the search engine and let me know if you find any real hard use tests then after that type in sng hard use let me know what you find. Also I said the sebenza is a piece of art not a tool and if you disagree then prove me wrong and put up some vids of you splitting wood with it.

  • @GunShotWound308 you made a claim so its up to you to post a video proving me wrong, problem is you cant because you dont own both knives to compare them

  • @GunShotWound308 all talk no show, Ill be waiting for your video response, but I wont hold my breathe

  • @cutlerylover a sebenza is not made to handle the same stress as the sng therefore it cannot do everything the sng can and when I need a knife to perform the sebenza will not handle it. The sebenza is a piece of art the sng is a real use tool.

  • @GunShotWound308 your wrong and I cna prove this by asking for you to show me in video format the sebenza not doing what your strider can do, can you provide me with proof? no, your probably dont own a sebenza your just a strider fanboy making outstanding claims, I have owned both and used both hard never had a problem with either one, but prefer the sebenza

  • Chris reeve knives are not meant for hard use and if I pay that much for a knife it better be able to take abuse so definitely strider over a crk if you want to pull out your knife and no one care bc it looks like a cheap knife from academy then buy a crk if you want a knife that will perform and looks great then buy a strider

  • @GunShotWound308 thats bullshit a sebbie can do what you want a strider is for people who dont need a knife they need a crowbar

  • @cutlerylover Striders so called military heroism is lies. Read this thread

And it is a valid argument to say that 400 dollars for a folding knife is alot. We as a knife community are small compared to all the "USERS" in the world who get by with a 5 dollar knife and dont even know there are different blade steels. A Dodge neon and a Dodge Viper both do the same thing, drive. Same with knives. Just look up Mick Strider has some explaining to do on Bladeforums.

  • @xCaffieneJunkyx where have you been? the strider/burger info has been around for over 5 years...and has nothing to do with the quality of his knives I dont buy or use my knives based on who elses uses them...I will add duane dwyer knows his shit and I trust in his work 100%

  • holy poop, $400 dollars, thats a lot. do a reveiw on the smith and wesson bullseye

  • Do you still have it if so how is it holding up

  • yeah aewsome knife but UGLY!!

  • Comment removed

  • Gravitas Leatherworks makes the best belt sheaths for these high end folders. Rugged and waterproof leather.

  • I think the only thing that turns me off of the larger striders, is the finger choil on the blade. It just doesn't seem like I'm getting enough blade!

  • Id LOVE the SNG but a real turn of is the bottom portion of the handle... id probably sand the extended portion off...

  • I have a strider SNG CC for sale. Ranger green!

  • Jeff do you still have this sng?

  • @pietermoore I don't think he does.

  • Comment removed

  • Hi, now that youve had this for a while, do you still feel it is good as you felt back in '08 when you made this? I ask because I am waiting on one for myself now. Thanks

  • @speedogg138 good point, but its kind of different.... you can buy a knife that works better than this for 50$... you can't get surgery for less, but I agree with you on the watch thing

  • @gawdawg36 like I already said do some research and check it out yourself... I'm not saying that that are bad knives because that would be a lie, they are great knives I just wont buy one because it only costs the company a few bucks to make a knife and they charge hundreds

  • @comebackkidx95 Do you think it costs Rolex or Omega thousands of dollars to make their watches? Nope. Do you think it costs a doctor thousands to perform open heart surgery? Nope. :)

  • 300$ for a used knife... do some research guys it only costs the company 3$ in supplies to make these knifed and you pay that much for them?

  • @comebackkidx95 Lol you couldnt buy the screws of the knife for $3 Im sure that they are making plenty of money off of them but what you said is just ridiculous

  • @comebackkidx95 haha look up the cost of S30V steel, and titanium stock

  • Nice review. Some good insights there - thanks.

  • Let's get something straight here people. For starters you get what you pay for.Befor I really got into higher end knives or even knew what a Strider was I had bought a few of those cheap $40 dollar blades. And let's face it they not only look like shit they are. I got sick of the cheap steel and overall durability issues and one day said fuck it and gave a Strider a shot.Yes the price was high but worth every dollar.I have bought about 5 Strider knives and have never had an issue.I have put 2 of

  • hands down i would choose a Chris Reeve over a Strider any day. I Thinks its funny when people say Striders are better, because there warranty department is almost not existing. Plain and simple Striders warranty department is crap! Chris Reeve's warranty service is amazing. Also, ive heard its hit or miss with Striders and there overall fit and finish, some are good some are terrible. If its terrible theres no one to back it up.Chris reeve= consistency and phenominal fit and finish. your choice

  • That's a lot of money for a knife.

  • wow way to expensive, i would never pay that much money for a knife 200$is my limit.

  • nice knife.but to much damm money,my 40 doller knife works great with no problems.

  • @bladegeo and the guy with the doge neon sais the same to the guy with the dodge viper, haha

  • @cutlerylover haha what?.what you a funny guy.

  • @cutlerylover hahaha great line.

  • @cutlerylover Hi, I am looking into buying a Buck Strider Tarani knife off eBay (the version with ATS-34 and FRN scales), and I was wondering what it is actually worth. This guy wants $200 for it; is it worth it? I don't know much about Striders, so I appreciate any help you can provide me. Thank you.

  • @cutlerylover Lol but in the end it's still a Dodge... jk

  • I prefer things like the Gerber stl or the kershaw leek so when I saw the $400-$500 price rang i was kinda like what the hell...

  • I know this SNG review was done back in 2008, but I was just wondering how this knife is still holding up? Any problems with it? Or do you still even own it?

  • Is the titanium side of this knife the "flamed" finish? I wanna make sure before I order one.

  • money?

  • @calciobalilla0 $300 - $400

  • @cutlerylover $300!!! bucks!!..What the FUCK..I say you got ripped off big time..or just like buying really overpriced knives..Its seems small to..I would not want to skin, butcher, a deer or elk with that knife..I use a Bowie knife nothing fancy, it gets the job done....but its from the 1950's..and I paid $40 bucks for it at a garage sale..

  • @5tonyvvvv your just not that into knives or lack knowledge about the knife community as a whole and what offerings there are out there, like some people who watch this video you may like knives but are not a knife person per say

  • @cutlerylover ok man I guess your right,, yeah I use cheap knives that are made well, but they last for years..I beat the shit out of them, I know old school hunting guys that have old Buck and military knives from WW2..that hold an edge and cut amazing..I think if you maintain a blade it will last for years..no matter if there cheap or expensive.

  • @5tonyvvvv its one of those things, nothing wrong with a $40 knife thats maintained but if you want what strider offers you have to fork over the money, doesn't mean its better than ev everything or that it will work more than a $40 knife, it just offers something you can have elsewhere for $40...

  • @cutlerylover I guess Iam not, but I hunt and fish more than people I know that collect knives, and I use knives a lot more than people do ..its seems more like a hobby..and really seriously ridiculously overpriced hobby..I have 3 hunting knives and 2 fishing blades..I use all year round..all 5 knives together cost me $235 BUCKS!!....I dont know man..but Iam not sure who the dummy is....LOL

  • @5tonyvvvv I fidn that most outdooirs guys tend to use cheaper tools...not to say it doesnt work for you, but knife guys want more, it is a hobby, but folding knives can go upwards of $20,000 each trust me $300 for a good folder isnt much at all to a knife enthusiast

  • @cutlerylover I did like your vid on women..so true..you also forget to mention they make you broke and nag you to death..thats why men die first..LOL

  • William Henry take all!

  • its a knife.

  • Hey Jeff, if you don't mind me asking. Do you still have this blade? If so do you still carry it?

  • What does this knife retail?

  • @ShadowandZues32

A hefty price of $400 and up. The reason i said and up is because there are different variations of this knife. I'm currently saving up for one and i'm getting alittle anxious.

  • Awesome knives, quite pricey for the non-rich. If i were to drop 400 on one id go for one of the beautiful custom designed ones they have. Ive seen some that are seriously jaw dropping gorgeous.

  • @shadowstormreviews

How is that impractical? It gives you more reach, a finger choil and the ability to choke up on the blade.

  • i bet you do love that $300 knife if u didnt that would be bull shit nice vid

  • its tight but not in a bad way. now thats funny. great review though.

  • Nice knife. Think I would rather save some money and get a Zero Tolerance instead though.

  • striders r freeking nice knifes

  • Hey Jeff, I always wanted one of these until I found out how much they are...I just don't see HOW a knife like this can cost so much money? It just doesn't make any sense in my mind. I understand how someone could pay this much and how a knife could be worth this much, but this particular knife? Can you explain that to me? I mean...I just don't see it.

  • @ThePistolChannel Part of it is the high cost of the materials - thick s30v steel, the one piece g10, and the titanium. Another is the Strider name because they are known to be a premium brand. Another huge part of the cost is the warranty - they will fix your knife even if you snap the blade in half.

It's not for everyone, if you don't see the value there's plenty of quality knives from Spyderco/Benchmade/Kershaw for under $100.

  • @mongomondomongo Thanks!

  • You see, when i grow up i want to but a really nice knife this this, and then just keep it forever and give it to my kids.

  • he cutlery lover i started making videos because of you thanks.i suck though.im using my laptop cam to record i have a cam but im to lazy. any tips you can give me

  • I think you can steal TP from public washroom dispensers with that spanner baby too. Diabolical.

  • cant stop the train baby!

  • @jsheadbussa7 dude...your dumb.

  • thumb studs? that is not a thumb stud. its actually the stop pin! how did you manage it so fast? i cant open it at all with it :-D

  • @DonnieCallister your right, they are the stop pins so there sint overtravel but I prefer thumbstuds so thats how I use them...lol...

  • @cutlerylover well THATS what i call an advanced user :-)

actually i will have to give away mine (to buy a sebenza). so i guess i will never master this trick.

but it sure looks good when you do it :-)

by the way: do you think its a trade up? or a bad deal? selling the SnG to get a Seb.

  • @cutlerylover Can you do a review on wilson combat knives such as the extreme lite carry or rapid response folder?

  • EVERYBODY LOVE THE COLE TRAIN BABY!!!!!!!!!!!!!! gears of war FTW!

  • loos like someone took the back off and got a blow torch to it, give it a nice tarnished effect

  • $300 for a production knife and used Strider. I think it is overpriced.

  • i am looking for an inexpensive pocket knife, locking, that is tough and looks good any suggestions?

  • @davidstopton try the gerber ar 3.00 or 3.50 awesome knife and only 35 bucks depending on the model

  • I was at the gun shop yestarday my dad took me we were looking at some knives and my dad bought me a spyderco delica 4 limited edition in blue. But the guy behinde the counter sounded like he was on cocaine he had this knife and he said he bought it for 3000 dollars.

  • Great review. BTW, it's SnG, not SNG :)

  • @priority2 The SnG is named after two military heros, so techincally the S and G are suppose to be capatilized, BUT if you go to Striders webasite its clearly listed as SNG...

  • @cutlerylover that keychain on your keys in the background is now on your jacket right?

  • @cutlerylover is it shugart and gordan. from blackhawk down. medal of honor recipents

  • @priority2 Are you seariously that picky?

  • Comment removed

  • What is the cut out behind the pocket clip for?

  • it might be that the strider SNG is the holy grail of knifes. hard, tough, wellmade. but i just dont like the shape. so sorry. dunno how s.o. can pay that much money for so few metal.

  • Do you have any knives that you could possibly give away.

  • Does anyone know of any knives with a similar design to the Strider SNG, but less than $75?? If so, please message me!! So far the closest I've come is an H&K Ally. I love this design but I don't have the money for it. Thanks!!

  • @c0nsci0usness yes the buck strider...Buck knives had a model that looks like a strider sng but with cheaper materials and made by buck, but I dont think they are stuill in production, google it..

  • @cutlerylover lol they just completely stole that design. thanks!

  • @c0nsci0usness well they worked with strider to amke that prosuction version they paid strider for the design its not stolen, haha

  • @cutlerylover "pro-suction" u just turned this into a vacuum review =] jk

  • @c0nsci0usness Look at the Zero Tolerance 0350 knife all the same material but you can find it on the net for $100.

  • cool video

  • I've used a LOT of different knives in my day, and in regular use, I've trashed Benchmades, Spydercos, Cold Steel, heck- even an Emerson. And yes, for you elitists out there, a Sebenza... Every knife can break, but Stryders are built tough, and they have THE BEST customer service of any company I've ever dealt with

  • @blackroses4her loverd the strider, but still prefer my sebbie...also chris reeves never lied about being in combat with his knives when in reality he was in jail like mr berger did, but that doesnt have anyhthign to do with the knives performance....

  • @cutlerylover When it comes down to it, all that matters is performance and personal preference... Everyone has different tastes in knives and different USES for their knives. So long as you dig your blade and it serves it's purpose the way you need it, I say more power to you! I was just giving my opinion on the CR v. Stryder complex

  • @cutlerylover Can you tell me that story I can't find anything about it.

  • Is the Spanner tool one solid piece of tang?

  • Striders are alright, but I prefer ZTs. They are cheaper than Striders too.

  • Do you still have this knife?

  • Do you know where I can buy one for 300 or less? Maybe the same place you got it?

  • wow how much is that knife new

  • variations of this knife model sell for $400 new pretty much everywhere they are sold...

  • Ugh, i'd kill for a Sebenza

  • Hey Bro. I have the same knife. Trying to do a little research on the blade though. It's a Copper Beryllium (CuBe) SNG. Any Help?

  • @smokinjublies That's a limited edition produced for bomb disposal and collectors. The blade doesn't spark. Whatever you do, don't sharpen it, cut yourself on it, or use it on food. CuBe is highly toxic.

  • the finish looks like bluing.

  • I have exactly the same knife coming and I can`t wait! Good review. 5*

  • do you carry your sebenza any more?

  • the handle kinda sorta looks like a gun stock

  • Did you trade this knife? If so why, and what did you trade for?

  • I am getting the Strider SNG GG Green G 10 very soon

  • DAMM $300! man i could almost afford to pay my rent and move out of my parents house if i had the money to buy that! nice knife though, most people certainly don't own one. whatevers most important to you dude....

  • most peopel no, but if you narrow it down to the knife communty, many do or at least have at one point...

  • OK well whatever floats your boat dude. right on!

  • @damesheck Some people save money for a fancy laptop, an Xbox, a nice suit, or a big TV. Knife guys like us- well, we buy knives =) $300 for a Strider or Sebenza is no small amount of money, but considering how much other guys spend on 72" HDTVs or bespoke suits, suddenly it looks very affordable.

Then again, there are some of us who can afford good knives *and* all other kinds of toys. *Those* are the folks we're jealous of :P

  • Are you for real? I'd rather spend $500 on a custom knife that will last me forever than on an X-box with couple of games.

  • At least he's not in his 30s and living at home. But $300 will only be good for 1 week's rent in most surburban places. I believe cutlerylover makes his videos based on his hobbies, not based on how people should live their lives. With that said, this is an open forum. You post a comment, people are going to respond with their own opinion. Nothing more, nothing less.

  • @damesheck FFFFF WoW what a mouth why don't you practice a little courtesy and lower the language!

  • good review, and your a well mannered fellow

  • I can't imagine what would make a folding knife worth three or four hundred dollars, for that money I would expect its perfomance to be nothing short of magical.

  • @jimjamerman own a strider and you will understand

  • Hahaha WILCOX11B got owned.....hahahaha

    Don't 'ya love know-it-alls.

  • This knife is a genuine strioder and has the normal markings like the strider logo and the bos heat treeat stamp...I eventually got in touch with micj strider about this finish and he told me they made a few versions like this ina short run, but didnt like how they turned out so switched back to the more common flamed finish...so turns out it was a bit more rare than I though, so the guy who I sold it to got a better deal than he though...

  • @WILCOX11B Thats kinda rude to say, especially to somebody who knows as much as cutlerylover does.

  • well he didnt know, just an easy explination...or assumption...

  • @WILCOX11B Are you fucking stupid bitch? You obviously don't know a damn thing about knives nor what you are talking about, kill yourself.

  • Haha, your bluntness is refreshing in this case.
