@kboanddbo In 2007, Redskins at Vikings recap from espn: "The Vikings appeared to have new life when Collins fumbled a hurry-up snap and Kevin Williams recovered near midfield. But Joe Gibbs challenged the play, and the Redskins retained possession when replays showed the Vikings had 12 men on the field." But anyway, glad nothing was called, it was just a curiosity that shouldn't overshadow a great play.
@aapold Good point. I'm a Seahawks fan and I remember a game against the Rams a couple years ago where St. Louis blocked and returned a field goal to tie the game before halftime. But the officials reviewed and they called it back. Then Seattle went down the field and scored a TD. Forgot about that.
It's rare to find intelligent people on these threads. :)
Like everyone else said, players and coaches step on the white line and on the field ALL THE TIME. Even in playoff games and superbowls. In superbowl 43 Fitz would have made the tackle on James Harrison but he ran into one of his own players on the white line and it slowed him.
Is this seriously a video posted by a Bears fan to call out the sideline? That's why I've always said Cutler playing for the Bears is a perfect match, he and the fans can cry together
dude. even if they didn't step onto the field, the bears behind them would not have caught Berrian. there has been several times when a band is on the field and the players have to run through them to score.
hell ya. my first game i saw of minnesota was back in 97 when they were playing Dallas. It was amazing. After that game i knew that i was a minnesota fan.
i wish those were there regular home jerseys. i like those a lot better. . . . as for the play. i live in chicago but am a die hard vikings fan. my dad is a dies hard bears fan.. i was up laughin in his face. it was literally the greatest defensive stop i had ever seen, granted im 18 so i havent seen to many, and the greatest play i had ever seen. just amazing game. GO VIKES
when this happened, i was in shock. this was the play of the decade. perfect pass, perfect catch.eff the bears, wackers and the lions. VIKES ALL DAY SUPERBOWL 2010, Peterson SUPERBOWL MVP 200+ yds
"All team personnel must observe the zone restrictions applicable to the bench
area and the border rimming the playing field. The only persons permitted within the solid six-foot white border (1-1) while play is in progress on the field are game officials. ... Violators are subject to penalty by the officials"
Nope. I'm a Vikings fan. I was ecstatic over the play. Maybe lots of teams violate the rule, particularly the white stripe or the running up and down the sideline part, but I thought stepping onto the actual field inside the border) was not allowed. If it is just a rule that isn't often called, then oh well.
From what I read on it usually officials will warn a team if it becomes an issue, and usually then they are careful.
Anyway one more win and Vikes will sew up the #3 seed...
@aapold Tell that shyte to the Bears DB that got burned. Do you think it made a difference to the crispy edges on his scorched body after burn play? Cry us a river, then tell us how it affected the play.
@aapold some rules they don't enforce. they didn't have any impact on the play by being on the white line so they don't really care. its been like that forever. i can't remember a time they actually threw a penalty for it.
@aapold There would have been nothing to challenge. Penalties, whether they are called or not, are not reviewable.

I think the Bears were more worried about how they got goal-line stuffed and then gave up a 99 yard td than a non-issue about a player on the field.

@XxLilOvi8xX, so Bears fans can comprehend what is going on. I still don't think he went slow enough for them.

Yeah, that on a short list of the greatest viking plays of all time.
That's actually a pretty good question, what are the greatest plays in VIking history
Nelson's overtime run vs the cowboys in 1987.
Cris Carter's overtime catch to beat the bears in 1994...
Bobby Bryant's return of a blocked field goal for a TD vs the rams in the playoffs in 1976.
And i guess if I had to pick a single moment, Amhad Rashad's miracle catch on the final play versus Cleveland that won us the division in 1980.
aapold 3 years ago
That was not the play of the decade. It probably isn't the play of the year.

@basekilla3125 hahahaha fail. Adrian fumble all day peterson and the vikes don't look so good.

NFL rulebook
Rule 13, Section 1, Articles 4:
"All team personnel must observe the zone restrictions applicable to the bench
area and the border rimming the playing field. The only persons permitted within the solid six-foot white border (1-1) while play is in progress on the field are game officials. ... Violators are subject to penalty by the officials"

They'll first issue a sideline warning before penalizing a team for that.
And the play can't be reversed for this offense unless they were on the field during, or before the snap of the ball.
