This is just excellent, really takes me back to my childhood, an avid motorsport fan.

Got to agree these older cars just look so cool, proper old skool stuff being hurled around by "proper nutters" with phenomenol talent, just a real joy to be able to see again.

I participated in 1977 -78 and 79 in the Manx Trophy Rally on Renault Alpine, the only time of Alpine ran the rally. I'm looking for photos of that era.

Pond refused a number of offers to drive more competitive machinery but it was his great loyalty and sense of honour that stopped him taking them.

Just look at some of the crap he got decent results in.

i'm presuming it is Ari......it was his accident in argentina 1985 he's referring to.Ari was an amazing driver,but he did tend to have a win or crash mentality.Some drivers settle for regular points,and there are those who feel that a win is worth the risk of getting nothing.

Ari is the best, if you know your rally history you know he only failed because he was a little over eager and on the limit , which cost him 2 world championships before his horrific crash in 86,

was there as a kid, travelled over as a rally mad family from england!! Plus Walter Rohl nearly killed my dad with a bit of unexpected tail action in the 911. Back when you could get real close !!!

pentti drove the chevette hs before driving the escort,and was british champion in that car.

i hate the 911s but you can see why they rally them, cheap parts, plenty of them around and very reliable, still lucks like a platypus among the ducks though. good vid mate, anybody who wants decent rally footage come here. better than those "fatal crash" videos where a wheel falls off!
